Actually i am GLAD that the writers changed those two plots. I can't imagine how mess it is with eunuch marriage plot. Ikr it added the level of angst but still.... also i can't bear to think that MRJH loved 2nd FL besides Mei Lin.

I actually want to rewatch KMLM again. Because in the first watch, I haven't fully watched it yet and just skip skip some episodes.

As far as I know, there is more biggest changes besides the torture scenes. For example MRJH thought that he loved the female general and they tortured Mei Lin for their pleasure. I don't see it in the drama. Also, they also changed the plot when MRJH forced Mei Lin to marry his eunuch, because in the drama Qing Yan is not a eunuch, but his personal bodyguard who still has his "thing" below.

For example KMLM, the strongest attraction to the novel is "toxic relationship but they love each other" and "S&M" relationship. Some ppl really loved it.

I also love red flag ML actually. The cold, cruel but handsome ML. Woah i really like it. But I know if the drama didn't change the level of toxicity in the drama, then KMLM would just become a daydream. It would not pass the censorhip in the first place. Except they change the format into short dramas with each episode 15-20 mins because "Love & Bid Farewell" (24 eps x 20 mins) can pass the censorship even though the leads relationship is super toxic + manipulative but handsome ML. For example ML raped the FL, force kisses + marriage, pregnancy as the result of rape, grabbing the neck, stabbing party, suicides, and countless death everywhere.

It means that full length dramas have more strict censorship idk why 🤣. So, KMLM actually has chance to stay true to its sources BUT they need to change the format into short dramas.

I am waiting for The Princess Gambit. LXY and MZY will be a gorgeous pairing.

Most of chinese dramas adapted the novel/web novel into their dramas. I can say that many novels have strong plots and wonderful stories. Both chinese and international fans are crazy about those novels. That's why production team adapted them into the screen. So I disagree if you said "sometimes the plot is weak" because the sources of their stories are strong.

It's almost impossible at this point. Yuan Bingyan (FL) was cancelled because of tax issues.

I love him in KMLM, even though he is not as "super red flag" as the novel, but he was sweet and very handsome in the drama.

Love Never Fails is actually so sad. They need to release it as soon as possible before the show feels outdated. Nowadays, the quality of period costume chinese dramas have significantly improved especially for their cinematography, costumes, sets, CGI (fantasy), and its whole premium packages.

For example you said trash about Xie Ze dramas but you still rated them 10/10. Ikr it's for PXR and I don't have problem with that. Even though it's very hypocrite but it's ur rights to rate them.

But they way you rejected other dramas bcs there is no PXR in those dramas. It was enough to tell me what kind of person you are. I prefer to talk to ppl who know how to appreciate and watch the dramas.

Oh i remember that you only watch chinese dramas just for PXR. So it's really subjective and I can't say anything more about it.

In the other side, I watched almost all chinese dramas because of various reasons. I love many actors and actresses but I also watch for the story, romance, journey, and its beautiful cinematography and production in period costume dramas.

Since we have different opinions, then i can say goodbye for now 🙂

Then maybe you should try to check them out. So many of great cinematography in chinese dramas with movie vibes nowadays. I have listed some of them in my previous comments. There is many more actually that i can write for pages to list all the cdramas with good cinematography.

Guo Jing Ming's My Journey to You is a masterpiece for cinematography. Everything was so beautiful. All the scenes and people. He also directed Fangs of Fortune but FOF is fantasy genre so maybe the cinematography in that drama is a bit different with MJTY but i still can sense his style of dramatic, mellow, and beautiful movements.

For me, the most important thing in every drama is "beautiful cinematography". It's not only about the styling of the person, but also how the camera shoot the scenes and people. The good cinematography definitely enhanced/added a lot of beauty in the shots.

I am glad that cinematography of chinese dramas nowadays have improved significantly especially for period costume dramas. They have big screen movie vibes with dramatic but beautiful shots. Some examples like Love Like The Galaxy, My Journey To You, Blossom, The Double, and many other dramas.

I know that I talked about cinematography is a bit out of topic. But i just wanna share my thoughts about it.

The wigs are looking good same like the other dramas. I don't see any issue with the wigs.

Oh you said two of her dramas were shot by Director Xie Ze who can't shoot people? Romance of twin flowers and Jun Jiu Ling?

But i suddenly remember that Zhao Lusi's one of her masterpiece drama "The Story of Pearl Girl" was directed by Xie Ze as well. And there is no problem with how Xie Ze directed the drama. Zhao Lusi was very stunning in that drama. There is no issue with make up, costume, or even filters and color grading. Everything is very beautiful to watch.

So i guess we still can't blame it alone to the director for PXR/production issues in ROTF and JJL. Xie Ze clearly can direct and shoot the people very well in The Story of Pearl Girl.
