I just realised after 20 episodes that Jang Uk is the actual main character of this drama.
The story opens with Naksu and ends with Naksu, our introduction to the world of Daheo is narrated by Naksu. Naksu has the most lines, Naksu has the most scenes and the story is told from her point of view. Naksu is clearly the main character like its not even close. The story is clearly built and formulated around her.
This drama made me fan of Cdramas. They are so good in such genre. I saw Love between Fairy & Devil which was…
"The Legends" has a similar story to this. A badass powerful female gets trapped in the body of a weak princess and struggles navigating the world in attempt to get her powers back. I think the romance in "The Legend" is much more deeper and powerful and doesn't take away or drag from the story, as I felt it did in AOS. The FL actually becomes a maid of her future love interest because she wants to kill him because she believes, he plotted to have her killed and take over her sect. The romance in AOS is like a puddle, compared to the ocean in the "The Legends". I say that to emphasize the intensity and depth of the romance in the "The Legends", which aslo remains a true fantasty epic/Wuxia whereas AOS wore a lot of different hats and ended being a romcom towards the end. It does have its flaws being 56 eps long and I believe it suffered from some censorship which causes some of the scenes to be cut but it is one the most memorable dramas for me and one of my favorites. "Love and Redemption", "Ancient Love Poetry" and the recent "Love Between Fairy and Devil" are all good but have very similar stories.
If you didn’t like it to Ep 10 then you won’t like the rest because it’s all sinkhole downhill from there.…
I agree with your sentiment, but I would only regret watching it to the end if there weren't a season 2. I hopefully we can tie up some plot holes have more badass Naksu and less chessy romance fillers.
Dropped this at ep10 picking back up now but STILL cant seem to get into it :-( its the story line thats throwing…
You just have to look past it. I didn't care for the romance either it felt forced and unnecessary. I know many people enjoyed it, but for me it was much a draggy filler, I just had to ignore it because the broader story was much more intriguing, I really connected to Naksu/Mudeok's character as she went from a powerful fearless assassin to a maid being trampled on by everyone. It was intriguing to see her navigate various struggles with the goal of getting her power back. I love the dynamic with UK of Master/Maidservant and Master/Pupil all at the same type. Unfortunately for me, the tone of the drama changed from a Fantasty/Epic with comedy elements to a cheesy romcom with serious plot holes. The main female lead goes from goddess priestesses female assassin to a supporting character as a house wife maid(Satire). I say this because even though I felt they butchered the story in the its still one of my favorite dramas. If you love fanstay epics you should still see it through, I believe its still worth it. But like the other guy said if you didn't like it at EP10 you only get more cheese romcom and less fantasy epic.
C-Dramas are getting better all around. This one was consistently good and entertaining. I like how they steer away from stereotypical side characters who have no redemptive qualities. I was expecting DFQC's brother to become evil and back stab him like the stereotypical evil jealous sibling, but he was more of a multifaceted character, which I found refreshing.
Episode 20, the finale has the lowest rating of all episodes on MDL and is now well below the average. Seems that many people were dissatisfied with the last episode. (under episode guide)
In response to reviewers and commenters saying “Naksu was such a strong badass woman and then she decides to…
I totally agree, instead of badass female assassin whose father and family were slaughtered then being manipulated and controlled for 20 years only to lose the only thing she owned her name "Naksu", reputation and her life's work her "power and skill", her pride and dignity. Instead of trying to get back any of her independence or identity she should happily wash UK's boxers for him in the wilderness and enjoy life as an maidservant housewife. Ladies this is true happiness. Even though Jin Mu controlled her for 20 years, the crown prince constantly threatens her but also shows her care, Master Lee tells her if she draws her sword he will kill her. Park Jin kills almost kills her as Naksu then is always suspicious of her as Mudeok and consistently targets her, UK agrees with all the men who have tried to control her before and tells Master Lee I will force her to make a choice her power or me. She cannot have both because we say so. The moment Naksu wields her sword and saves UK's life he quickly tells her your "choose now keep your powers or wash my boxers". The choice between giving up her powers or killing UK and she choose him. But did she really have a choice because if she killed him everyone would be after her and she would lose all her friends. She fell in love but was only willing to give up her powers to save the people she loved not for the love. As in she didn't say O I want to get married so I don't need my powers, but I love you I want my powers but I don't want to kill you for them.
I didn't want to watch a show about a remorseless murderous female assassin, but I wanted to see a show about fearless women who was just as powerful as an assassin as she was in the weak body of a blind servant girl, whether an assassin or servant I wanted to see her rise up over those who had trampled upon her to gain her dignity and pride back, but those choices need to be hers alone. Without any influence, control or limitations placed on her by anyone else. Naksu was forced by her circumstances to reluctantly give up on her goals.
I totally get the Naksu's arc and the message the writers are trying to convey. But this would have worked better if Naksu had truly regain her power and exhibited it in some meaningful way reestablishing her as one the top mages, with her former respect from everyone and then deciding to give it up for love at crucial moment. That would have been a redemption story where its her choice. But the writers decided to write her into a dead end, a catch 22. She barely gets to wield her sword, (something viewers had been waiting for 17 episodes) before UK forces her to give up her powers or kill him.
Yeah the true Naksu would rather die 1000 deaths than to be regulated to a house maid wife. The way the plot gives…
I completely understood the plot. When you say her original goal was for revenge and to kill all those responsible for her father's death, yes that was true when she worked for Jin Mu. As Mudeok her goal is to regain her powers back. Even after she finds out about her dad she still set on getting her powers back. But getting her powers back turns into a catch 22. As she has to choose between her powers and the lives of her friends. Naksu is even conflicted about what to do when she does temporarily regain her powers back. In fact she only gives up on her goal when UK tells her she has to kill him first and she refuses to. It's then without no hope of using her powers again because she will not kill UK she wants to ensure that he does love her. Remember Master Lee basically threatened to kill Naksu if she wielded her sword and then she couldn't use the ice stone because it would have killed everyone, so she is almost forced into giving up on her powers.
AoS had a great potential but got wasted because of the amount of filler scenes it had. 3 or 4 episodes do not…
Yeah the true Naksu would rather die 1000 deaths than to be regulated to a house maid wife. The way the plot gives up on UK's training and Naksu getting her powers back was a total let down, after 90% of the story is about them getting their powers, then they switch to not caring and having a cheesy romance.
Why is it unreasonable?A handsome prince saved her from the gangsters, and he was kind and gentle to her, concerned…
I don't @haenbi is saying the love in itself is unreasonable but the level and dedication at which a selfish swindler thief would put her life at risk for some random "handsome prince saved her from the gangsters" whom she had only met once, that is unreasonable not to mention it didn't really service a purpose within the plot.
Too many plot holes, inconsistencies, contradictions and things left unexplained. What are some I missed?
~Jin Mu is still Alive( characters had to be dumbed down for this to happen) ~So I is able to remove the blood worm without any magic, the worm was suppose to be the insurance policy to hold her hostage, but she easily removed it. ~Instead of getting Seo pills for the worm why doesn't So-I just remove it like she did for herself. With all that said I'm a huge fan and the show has maintained it's unique Charm, I'll be waiting for season 2.
Hong sisters are so focused on Romance and comedy part that they have the guts to dismiss Naksu's strong character…
Yeah stupid plot switches from assassin priestess goddess Naksu trying to get her powers back to her wanting to be a house wife who washes UK's boxers in the wilderness. I think the ratings declined with this change and some people are no longer interested in season 2.
I still can't move on with this drama and I need more. Do u guys perhaps hv some book reccomendation that hv quite…
"The Legends" is a good Chinese novel with a similar plot involving body swapping of a powerful female lead into the body of spoiled princess. I read the novel after watching the series. The series isn't bad but the novel is much better. nonetheless the series is still one of my favorite C-Dramas.
This drama arguably had the strongest start among all series I have seen. It got me hooked from the beginning…
I agree as do many others. It went from a fantasty epic with a female badass priestess goddess fearless assassin lead to a romcom with the female lead becoming a maidservant to the hero goofball.
I liked part 1 just fine but I think I probably won't watch part 2 unless/until I don't feel like I have anything…
Yeah many people agree, its opens up as an action/fantasy drama with some romcom elements but half way through the season it becomes a draggy romcom, I got burned out on the romance to point I didn't care anymore.
