Just to give one example, viu calls deok ro’s sister Queen Wonbin… 🤦🏻♀️ Idk they could just call…
Does VIU go back and clear their dialogue with new translations? I don't think that service is available in America. I would expect to see adverts for it if it was. I heard somewhere the show sends a rough English only translation to license holders, and then they leave it to the licensee to translate to the satisfaction of their audience. It's one reason I like Viki. If you tell them there is a grammatical error or a translation error, then they will fix it. You can see it in almost every episode. Though, this makes it very unlikely there will ever be an English subtitled blu-ray without a major distributor to do the translating. Yet, even Netflix's translations sucks, but they opt for easy readability for all foreign translations, so it's more expected there. There were some shows that were on Netflix USA and Viki USA, but the translations for them really varied.
What I really didn't understand was what made the king's mom join up with the queen. Like that all happened off…
Though another quick questions...what did the king's mom get out of making that deal with the queen? That she would convince her son to take her concubine of choice???

Thank you for explaining that because clearly the show expected me to know that. It's one of the cultural nuances that go over my head when I'm watching the show. I am glad they keep the politics and family wrangling simple and light, because the reality is if they had tried to explain it with several episodes, I probably still wouldn't understand and I'd be feeling turned off from what I really want to see, which is SanDoek.
did they just imply Deok Im's brother was killed instead of the princess??
What I really didn't understand was what made the king's mom join up with the queen. Like that all happened off screen and it's heck of confusing. The way I understood it is Doek is related to the dude they killed, and he is also related to the queen and the king's mom, and of course to San. So basically...he just offed a bunch of his own family members to secure the throne....I guess that's what happened..lol.
OMG…Doek-Ro is nuts! I thought the character sucked in the old Yi-San drama with his torturing of merchants…
I'm assuming then it was just a device to show us how icky Doek-Ro really is. He doesn't care about anybody or anything but himself. I'm wondering if they will put Doek-Im in distress this episode, which would spur a lot of things to happen in short order. That trope still works...lol
I dont think so, there's not much time left before Sandeok get together. And based on ep14 prerelease clip, it…
I almost agree, but from the teaser for the new episode three things stood out. 1. Why is he putting a tail on her if she is in the palace? 2. The maid standing next to the new chick looks like Doek-Im. 3. The king looks like he is wearing the same outfit at the end when he visits the new chick.
In terms of narrative strength and pacing, I felt that this week the direction felt a little unsure. Quite unlike…
Me too! It was hilarious and then there's ninjas! It was jarring, and such an odd place to begin...lol. All the important scenes in the episode felt out of place. They were great to watch, and of course the acting was top notched, but they just felt out of order. And I am with you....bring on all the fan service possible! I mean...did you hear his voice at the end of the preview???????? I swear even though I had no idea what he said, my mind translated..."Take your clothes off" and then his hand is reaching for her little sash-thingy. Whoa!!!! Pantie-trembling...no lie!

I feel like something about his story line is off, which makes me think they shortened it. It's seems like he's kidnapping and torturing CLs because he thinks they poisoned his sister, or has he been kidnapping CLs for years???? Because who was behind the kidnapping years earlier?
Well...since it's about 14 our so hours before I'll see the next episode, and hopefully the next one if Viki uploads them in one day. I want to ask a question for people who have been following book spoilers. Does anyone think Doek-Im is going to leave the palace next episode like she does in the book?
What if he doesn't find it until way later in her things....
I actually think he'll find it in her things after she's gone. Then he will remember and it will be even more heartbreaking. If I was writing the story that's how I would do it. I'd want to milk every tear from the duct by bringing that up just to make people shed more tears...lol

Well said! I really do think the structure was off because they moved scenes around to accommodate an extra episode. The episode started off in such a weird place it didn't even make sense to begin there, so I think they moved things around to wrap up the plots more quickly than they anticipated, so they give more SanDoek fan service and I am not against that at all!
Don't play with my emotions MBC....
