why don't we have the countdown for the next episodes?
I think MDL had to change the countdown schedule for this drama because it kept on changing. Tencent is opening express tomorrow for this drama aka dropping the rest of the episodes.

There are a lot of good C-dramas but I don't think they have English subtitles just because they are not the type to do well with I-fans just based on the genre (aka non-romance). "She and Her Girls" on MDL for example has like 8.4 but on Douban it is over 9+.
Ig, international audience s#cks because this drama is rated highly on Douban compared to the dramas like the…
C-side has noticed a long time ago that I-fans tend to like the dramas they really dislike lol. I think I-fans watching these romance dramas only care for the romance so as long as it is cute and they have romantic scenes, they are good with it. But C-side tears apart these types of dramas (even if they are popular stat-wise in terms of people watching) with the way they tend to write the FL being helpless and not having a life beyond the ML. And how these dramas tend to write the 2nd FL and other female characters being plot devices.
Edit: In addition, a lot of their acting in general is just not that great. The way they use their voice, the way they "understand" the characters, etc. tend to have a lot of problems too so this is something the C-side evaluates when looking at these dramas. A lot of I-fans here only watch certain dramas with certain actors/actresses and the acting they know is only from those stars. But if they expanded into what we call "reality" drama acting, they would realize those actors/actresses they knew were not that good at all. It is also why a lot of them have a hard time transitioning beyond idol dramas in their 30s-40s.
Any idea why so many attacks on this particular drama? Is it because of the unique plot or merely because itβs…
TJC is kind of a traffic star at this point so the more traffic one has, the more of a competition he becomes to the other traffic stars. It also seems like because of LYF where he blew up with Xiang Liu, the fans of the other cast from that drama were upset at his popularity so they want to make sure to check him and make sure he doesn't get any bigger. Not to mention his role as Shen Yi from UTS 1/2 which just shows he has range. They all do this to each other and it is pretty annoying but usually if a drama is /good/, the non-fans scoring will win over these fandom scoring.
Part of it is also because there are other modern romance dramas airing right now so yeah, in a way, it is to make sure this drama doesn't get more audience. FF and TBT have more official viewers but their review reception is not as good. Douban ratings influence people to check out a drama so even if a drama doesn't have the top view stat while it is airing, more people will tune in later after the drama ends just by the Douban score alone.
Well said! I didn't realize that Li Landi had done that! It's explains why I always felt it was SCC, no matter…
Yes! There were even behind the scenes of her acting those scenes too, but most of those cuts never made it in the actual drama since they were the transformations' scenes.
Antis worked hard on Douban, but fans of the drama worked even harder!!! It is emotional seeing people who don't even usually use Douban going there just to rate this drama well because they saw all the 1-star personal attacks and know this drama deserved more. π₯² And they are right to say if this was a K-drama, the score would be even higher. Now that the score opened, there will be more antis flooding in trying to lower the score but hopefully the positive ratings will counter them and keep the score steady and even increase it.
The production/cast should really be proud of themselves. An original IP with such a wacky theme was a risk but they managed to do it. They were able to push it beyond it being just seemingly silly from the teasers. They tackled on this kind of transformation trope in a way where SCC isn't going around using "beauty" to one up everyone. She used it and realized she actually doesn't like it. There is so much reflection and introspection in this drama.
TJC took on a risk portraying TQ because TQ is complexed and might seem like a jerk in the beginning so unless people gave the drama chances beyond 1-3 episodes (his POV was already hinted before the reunion scene but it was episode 8 that confirms a lot more about his POV), they will never /get/ his character and that everything he did was with logical reasoning from his part. In an age of fast-paced narration where people just want a character at their most true and perfect state by episode 1, TQ is like a wine that you need to take your time with to get.
LLD also took on a risk portraying SCC because not only does she has to plain herself down, but she is also essentially sharing screentime with everyone and everything. Not many actresses (especially as a rising actress) will take on this risk as this type of drama label can be transferred into them in real life and affect their own name brand. Especially because her looks might be compared to the transformations and people might go around saying they wish X or Y continued playing as SCC instead. In addition, LLD acted out all the scenes first and her transformation actresses/actors mimicked her and most of her scenes as these transformations will never be aired. However, she did so well plus the consistency across the actresses/actor/alpaca reinforced that SCC is /her/.
Not to mention the rest of the cast, everyone really put their hearts into it. They should be very proud of themselves, and I can't wait to see the rest of the episodes.
The rating is considered high on Douban right? TFF which is more popular, is 2 points below this one
Yes, 7+ = good but people are saying it deserves at least an 8+ so it is likely people will continue to rate it well (despite antis continuously giving it 1 star).
I feel like they have a good chemistry than tan jianci had with female lead
Oh yeah, they get along great, I just meant as the characters they are acting. They weren't really supposed to have romantic chemistry in the beginning as they disliked each other.
Yay! People have been noticing it is also because so many people are pirating this drama. It makes sense though…
Yeah, people are making lists of those rating 1 stars and what dramas they rated 5 stars for to determine which fans are the worse and who has beef with who. π
People are so sharp, with the mirror within mirror placement for their first kiss, you see them kissing 3 times aka the 3 times TQ fell for SCC: https://v.douyin.com/i5qypTPa/
