Short answer: Haters.
Longer answer: Statistics breakdown says all age groups are voting above 8, so what's dragging it down atm is people voting the unaired eps 1-star. Will recover as more eps are and more viewers rate them, but basically if 1 person 1-stars an ep, 4 would need to rate it 10 before it even made above 8.

(There's not too much point stressing about it, but if it stays this good, it'll go up naturally as more of the show airs since more viewers will rate the eps.)

Probably they'll fix them soon, sometimes subs are released pre-QC if the platform doesn't get the subs much before the a/v comes in (since all viewers would like some wonky-ish subs over no subs), and then they amend them once the QCer's done.

In a day or so Ep6 will probably be fixed.
Ep7 already is good again. (If it ever wasn't.)

^I don't want him to turn out bad ;-; But I think he and Sis Feng have many parallels, he will need to slowly learn that humans can be good by meeting some good ones b/c at the moment he has only had bad experiences with them or heard horror stories about how the humans will get him if he doesn't behave from Sis ;-; And he'll probably also have Madam Qin threatening him too, which will complicate his life as well ;-;

It is hilarious, especially Kiddo Fugui's "Do you not like wealth?" to Daddo. I head-scratched up till Qingtong started calling him Young Master Wealth about why Fugui'd be asking his dad about his feelings about money and then had the oooooh moment of realizing, oop, just a translated name in the subs. 😆

Ep7 is better, hopefully they fix ep6 soon. (They have a suggested sub revisions box, and I imagine every English speaker'd be filling those out for them, or at least iQIYI got 59+ from me.)

Not to mention the drinking tea for his "wife" at Mom's grave LOL 🫠

I love the character relationships in this, him and his father have so much pain but I love that he still has his empathy and not bitterness and hate, but I also like that his dad isn’t just a typical terrible dad, he has his own reasons for pushing his kid to fight too 😭😭 Though with that shade saying “With hate I’m reborn if there was only love I’d be destroyed” I wonder if empathy of some kind will be more powerful against it in the end?

Fugui and cousin, like “I’m injured. You stabbed me.” *snickering*. I love them. I also loved that his kindness towards the FL started when she was a spider (not just a gorgeously attractive woman, though she now is that too), I ship them so much and I think part of it’s that she was nice to the soldier for no reason other than empathy even though she’s been raised to fear and hate humans, and he was kind to her for no other reason than empathy (and recognition of her empathy) for much the same, even showing her his daily routine so she’d have something to report bc he knows he can win anyway and life’s tough for minor spies with crap overlords holding serious grudges against him. And back to cousin: Communication. I LOVE THAT HE DID THAT, “I need some help, Dad wants me to kill you and he’s holding my friends hostage” like, the trust there is beautiful. I love these three so much 🥰

(Rumu’s dad tho is so bad, worst father ever. I get the impression that the lady who kidnapped Rumu has a story there, I would guess she’s the dragon with the snowflakes he wanted to know he didn’t blame her so I wonder what that story is 👀👀) (But don’t spoil me if it’s known!)

Love this very valid life lesson 😂😂 And a second, to round it out: Ultimately, you are responsible for your own life choices. Instead of blaming everyone but yourself for your life not being how you want it to be if it’s not, instead look at where you are, where you want to be, and plan a path to walk that might actually get you there in a way where you can still live with yourself when you arrive at your destination 😂 (And if the voices in your head are suggesting mass murder of family and friends is a brilliant and A+ path, maybe don’t listen to the voices in your head 😂)
