Until what episode should I watch to not get the sad ending? I find that a lot of dramas end pretty conclusively,…
ep49 he dies of poison, but he dies beautifully while passing the throne on. You can probably stop around mid way through ep49 where they’re attending the lantern festival and he spins her around with slow romantic music as your happy ending, stop after the first two cuts of the spin as he faints at the end of it, and the rest of ep is basically him dying and passing on the throne and the kingdom now being a happier place thanks to his hard work throughout 😂😆

for me, I don’t know that it’s badly written quite; In the previous ep, XQS chatted with his friend who remembers the novel plot, and they say “at this hero conference what originally happened was LCZ and you became allies and eight masters gave you their power which is how you don’t instantly die fighting LCZ.” And XQS theorizes the plot may be changed by R.
XQS follows them down the cliff because he is aware of this plot point, and upon seeing him all simultaneously are triggered for this quest and rush to give him their power. (He gives a token protest since he’s aware they’ll die doing it and he doesn’t like people dying, but doesn’t fight it too much because they are all dying anyway due to their wounds from fighting each other and also it’s the plot and definitely the only way to beat the Power Gang, which they want him to do to.)
It’s a scene both hilarious for me (cuz it’s like when you play an RPG and you go near a town and an NPC rushes up and says “you must save the world random stranger!” *journal update: new quest added*) but also an unsettling reminder that our lead is imersively LARPing a plot that is still following the original novel; he has more free will now he’s destroyed the System and has “become” the MC rather than the player (memory-wise), but he still hasn’t changed a key plot point yet; he is still living the protagonist’s journey rather than changing the protagonist’s journey.)
But yeah it certainly is a scene that breaks the third wall 😂

They have strongly different theological beliefs, basically, due to the different martial arts they practice and so the orthodox trainers want to prove orthodox methods are better while unorthodox want to prove unorthodox are stronger.
Feel for you. I mean I loved the show despite its flaws, but still. Maybe try Stand By Me for a stronger supporting…
There's something very addictive about his acting, right? When I see photos of him still it's a completely different experience to watching him in a show, I think because he's so good at sinking into the role and emoting what the character would actually feel in the scenes. I'm slowly working my way through his other series too on this same logic 😂 >> [cannot miss him]
(I love his outfits in this show, so for me they worked, luckily for my viewing enjoyment vs yours for the first few eps🤭But I gotta say, my bar's not super high, I don't think I really detected the production values a lot of viewers were complaining about. The only thing I noticed was everyone's makeup was quite heavy in some scenes, but I think that was more to do with the weather being very hot when filming and needing to stop the sweat from washing it straight off, so I could understand it. There's one scene where one of the actors' chests is just slightly visible under his neckline and he was dripping sweat, it made me think the weather must have been so hot. Everyone did so well with their fight scenes despite the heat! I think I read it got up as high as 45, I wilt even at 30.)
Hi there, just curious what's the difference between MaoYan vs Yunhe vs Kuyun data? Kuyun also includes TV viewership?…
A non expert so take my answer with a grain of salt:
Yunhe = what all viewers on online platforms are watching (number + %)
Kuyan = what viewers in online plus TV are watching (number and %)
Maoyan = More a popularity index (it monitors Weibo and Douyin too along with episode views, so more of a measure of how viewer engagement is going.)
A show only aired online may have 40% Yunhe, but 20% Kuyun if 50% of people were also on their TV doing something. If no one posted about it after their Maoyan score would be lower vs one everyone was talking about or making gifs/clips of, which would have a high engagement index.
I have watched 4 eps and except for Cheng Yi, all actors are so bland that its shocking. Plus someone fire Cheng…
Feel for you. I mean I loved the show despite its flaws, but still. Maybe try Stand By Me for a stronger supporting cast and a less live action anime type wardrobe CY historical?
Yan kuangtu is LCZ's dad? Isn't LCZ related to imperial Royal Family? The emperor is LCZ's brother I guess. If…
I read another commenter saying that he's his dad in the book but that in the book Yan Kuangtu is the founder of the Power Gang and LCZ isn't a prince, so it could be that he is (despite never being covered in the series that I remember), but it could also just be that MDL is wrong. o.o
LCZ died the most stupidest way ever. He’s so strong, how does some guy able to kill him that easily esp when…
LCZ is still poisoned, just not dead from it. (It's said earlier in the series I think that it's an ongoing poison ala Princess' Gambit where he needs to visit every month to get a cure for it or he'll suffer. The emperor has been withholding the cure (that thingy he crushes in Ep38 and keeps hiding in the box, I think) so LCZ isn't dead but the poison has reached his bones, he's not going to live long either. (No comments on it being the stupidest way ever for him to die. I mean it didn't make sense but I was just glad they improved on the fate of how him and his wife died in the book, at least they let them die together with dignity here. ;-;)
ML picked it up from the qin music he played. "Snow Across the Land" (flashback to the tune Daddy Xiao tried to teach his three kids as kids) had the Voidheart codex hidden within the notes of the music. (Luckily, XQS and XMM are both good at the qin, unlike poor Kaiyan.) The somebody he mentions was the Jiang bros, who kidnapped Crazy Yan's siblings to force him to teach them the Voidheart Codex but then didn't give the siblings back even after they learned it, I believe. It's unclear why they didn't if they felt guilty enough to write down the codex for posterity, but given how Xiao Sr met Adopted Sis, it's possible some third party may have attacked them while they were trying. (I don't remember which ep it was to check if she was with a living adult when she was adopted.)
ML can kill bro as he now also has the Voidheart Codex. Kaiyan's strategy when fighting is, by default, to level drain; his meridians tend to pop if he expends too much of the power he absorbs as he's not had a master or an infinity pill to open his meridians properly, but since the absorption makes his enemies weaker, Kaiyan generally doesn't need to expend that much energy to kill them once they've lost their martial arts. Since ML now knows the Voidheart Codex too though, he can counter with it so Kaiyan can't level drain him anymore. It's down to skill vs skill, and while Kaiyan's absorbed a lot of crazy skills, our lead also has had about 10 masters giving him crazy skills too, so they are both advantaged by golden cheat codes. (was my reading!) (Since ML died of exhaustion due to buffing himself enough to beat Bro like that though, it's a bonus power that comes at a hefty price.)
I am rewatching because I am finding it hard to move on, LSF’s face when he spotted XQS is hilarious. I wonder if he asked “do we know each other” because he was trying to work out if this was a (very good) disguise by his boss 😂
random side note: They make the cutest merchandise for this show 😂
I would love love love to know that too re the first part, like, howwww? Is it just that like XMM he has LN’s…
Yup, like I get not wanting to die as a side character but it’s crazy entitlement to think anyone else owes it to you to care about you. Nice if they do, smart to hang around people who do, but if they don’t get over it and move on 😂 Kaiyan’s whole arc made zero sense because he used methods that made him hate himself to achieve objectives that would never be achieved using those methods for reasons that never made sense anyway. Whiny, unrelatable guy from start to end. Even LN had logic that made more sense, at least he just wanted money 😂😂

Good luck with the rest of this one!
