He does but 1) for the “good” version you need to expend large amounts of inner force to use it, hard when you’ve had it all sucked out by Kaiyan, and 2) the “evil” one, absorbing the abilities of others is a massive massive nope in the martial world, it is considered demonic cultivation and it’s just not done. Passing abilities yes, forcefully stealing them nope except by evil people. (is my understanding 😅😅)

They don't show it indeed, but it was the same place just a couple of levels down, so XQS probably just had to shout "general" and listen for a reply to get there. Given the General seemed to have powerful martial arts still (based on tossing that spear like that) it's also possible the general was saving his energy and broke free himself to meet XQS half way.

XQS definitely dies, XMM's ultimate fate is less certain though it doesn't look good that his BPM is dropping to 17 as XQS passes away, or that LN passed away in the real world at around the same time Kaiyan would have been killed by XQS in the novel/System world (allowing for the riding time). XQS's weapon was the sword, while XMM mentioned at the start that he and the sword bros were in the Qin club. So the fact that he was walking off ominously towards the light with both sword and qin to me says that their souls indeed merged, XMM really did put his own life behind his principles alongside XQS to protect the world he was in and the people around him, and XQS/QMM are both dead and starting anew in their next life/ascending. (Or maybe a bit like L&R, they were both just human fragments of one primordial spirit to begin with, and both now passed this trial.)

(I do oscillate between thinking this, and thinking the System punted QMM outta the game when he completed the main quest of save the world/be named martial arts leader/redeem LSF though, so the doctors saved him and he woke up, but the two weapons are as XMM still had a lasting impact on XQS, just like XQS did on XMM, and neither of them will forget each other even though XQS is technically now gone.)

Confusion is fair, given XMM destroyed the System and therefore lost the ability to ask it questions, so nothing was spelled out at all 🤣🤣🤣 But at the same time, fair and in keeping with XMM/XQS's character, in that he was never worried too much about why he was in this world or where he was going when he died, mainly only worried about the wellbeing of those around him and living with dignity and keeping his principles himself while alive, no matter where he was or what put him there.

Sammme, iQIYI at 8PM pronto, and they never translated any in the English subs till Ep39. Maybe they added them later, or I just was blind and missed them? I don't remember them though, I mostly remember thinking 'what the heck are they circling' and only knowing it's names from other commentors who could read Chinese XD

Lollll poor Kaiyan. He really is annoying. There's literally no redeeming qualities to him, every motivation he has is incomprehensibly awful. Li Nan is marginally more comprehensible, in that if you know you're in a game then yes there will be a temptation to just kill the NPCs to profit, but Kaiyan doesn't have that excuse, he's literally part of this world and whining no one loves him enough despite him literally killing them. *pelts him.*

HAHAHA yeah, tiny hidden under the Alliance Arms Inn on the map is a Ring of Wizardry, which if you scrape up the 100 gp you need to identify (or waste 1 x spell slot on 'identify') can be sold for ~9500 GP, whichhhh if you play a sorcerer gives you the gold you need to buy up some 'stone to flesh' scrolls. You then gotta get the 24-hour dominate cloak from that guy Algernon, ideally via pickpocket with a thief, your familiar if solo mage/sorcerer class. Armed with all 3, you go to the area east of the temple district, desperately hoping for no "overland encounters" till you meet the ghoul who will temporarily be your buddy. Send him in first (or pick a familiar immune to petrification), let the 7000 XP basilisks attack him, and then dominate one of them with the cloak. Make your new bud attack the second basilisk attacking the ghoul, and armed with your stone-to-flesh scrolls you can gain a tonnnn of levels by turning your basilisk to stone and then un-turning it again, as you get 7000 XP per greater basilisk. (If you wanna do a solo run on Legend of Bhaal difficulty in game 1 where even the rats are invincible, this is how a brave sorcerer can do it.)

Yeahhh, Feng Lang died permanently via a needle to the forehead curtesy of LSF, RIP poor NPC. Sancai was a second OC, except he was more 3 characters in the original novel who MC merged into 1 because he thought three was too many. (*applauds his decision*)

I got a feeling-- though I could be wrong-- that the puzzle was based on knowing the lyrics of a modern song. The message was the lyrics, and the missing words when combined together meant "The Hero Token is in this place", but you'd only be able to solve it if you were from modern times and knew the song lyrics. (eg. "Let it **, Let it go, can't ** it back anymore, turn away and slam the ** would be solvable for us as "Go hold door" but not for anyone who didn't know the song. Could have totally misunderstood that though!!)

My understanding is that the Emperor was wanting peace with the Northern Wastelanders and being misled by Water King that peace was totally possible and that the only reason LCZ and General didn’t want it was because LCZ was working with General to stage a coup (that conversation at the table of surely only someone eying my throne would want the war to go on.) Once he realises he’s been deceived and the enemy really has attacked, he wants to beat them as he never wanted to lose the land he has left, only stop the war. Thus he’s actually a bit sorry to have misjudged LCZ all this time, but now he’ll never have the chance to say so. My understanding of how the poisoning worked is that the cure to an ongoing poison is meant to be what LCZ is drinking but the Emperor is withholding it, thus he probably wanted to actually give it to LCZ but again too late, LCZ is dead. He has regrets but too late to fix it now.

Up till then he has (aside from the parents who he didn’t cross out even though he had killed them), but yeah at the start it’s Crazy Yan and Sis, and at 34 mins the two names he crosses out at the top right are LCZ and his wife, and then a name that wasn’t subbed, then XQS, and then we cut to them with the rescue of the general 😅😂

Lollllll the translator on iQIYI picked that up, the one with the big cross out is XQS 😂

The one before that that he hesitates while looking conflicted over is Sis. LCZ and his wife are crossed out shortly before the ambush I believe, and Crazy Yan is crossed out before his sister (iirc) but Ep39 is the only ep they translate any names 😂

(I empathise bc throughout every other ep I was thinking this exact thing, what is he circling 😂)

Not beyond what's up there already in MDL, as I've not looked up the book/stage play since I don't want to spoil myself. I'm pretty happy deciding "yup" for watching based on the water photos 😂

Nahh I didn’t watch the deleted scenes 😅😅 I only heard they deleted some ending ones but that actually sounded like an improvement to me since instead of all problems being solved ultimately by LCZ and XQS, it instead showed all supporting cast were standing up for their own principles now so that that conversation between LCZ and XQS about neither of them being necessary to the martial arts world really lived out. Like, LSF and the rest of the power gang was there to finish what LCZ started, everyone was singing and laughing around that fire without the centre of their world being XQS anymore, reflecting how unlike Ep1 where the story ends with “rule us for 1000 years” as the author he’s like a parent who’s raised his kids/world to be able to leave him/him leave it 😂🥰 So for me I thought it made sense to cut those scenes. (But it’s CY so I’m sure it would have been epic to watch as well even if they kept them too, I can see where you’re coming from!) 😃

I hear you but I just think of Happy Camp and that “cover the arrow, the budget extends to 5 seconds only” 😆 They would have had to do an insane amount of editing to pull that off or else relied a lot on back and forth over-the-shoulder shots, or “I’m talking but we’re both standing with out backs to each other”. I’m happy with what we got, the ep27 fight was sooooo good and part of that for me was that they’d been so stingy with LCZ that it was the first proper time to see LCZ in action🔥🔥
