Nahhh, he did walk away 2 years after the crazy hate after one of his shows I believe in the past, but came back because he really loves acting and the craft. I really hope for him he can have a strong support network around him and ignore the hate and keep doing what he loves 🥰

If we’re randomly gossiping and assigning blame without proof, my money on platform to blame would be on Tencent. They are the ones who are pushing to introduce an age cap on historical drama leads, and Princess’ Gambit also suffered from terrible writing and editing. Nearly the exact same style as in the 6-14 arc of “but actually they didn’t win/lose because 5 hours ago this happened” style 😆

We can not respond and just block them. They’re doing it for engagement and to incite fanwars, so just ignoring them will discourage them and annoy them most.

I think they mean that in a typical /wuxia quest, to some extent, it’s about levelling up— the quest is to unlock the next level up of your abilities, or cultivate your next amazing skill, with the goal of reaching the peak of possible fighting abilities. (like for the greater good or the greater evil, improving is important to the lead and also a struggle for them they only improve through overcoming difficulties or reaching near death.)

Here XQS already knows what abilities are going to be granted to him by the plot, so he isn’t stressing about how he can unleash new levels of awesome in himself as an end goal 🤣😆 Could be reading them wrong though!

tbh, it is way more likely that the platforms were working with multiple locked cuts for stuff like subbing and dubbing (very normal) and that they didn't update to the final cut before airing or someone mislabeled a version. I think the blooper stuff was only WeTV one of the comments said? In that case, it would just be a WeTV staffer who messed up, not the whole show's editors for those.

The editing and pacing and writing being off is probably more to do with there being 4 producers and 7 screenwriters and 5 production companies involved and only 3 months total to shoot the whole thing than anyone intentionally sabotaging it. Overall it has still been super enjoyable to me despite the stuff you're flagging, and I feel like genuine sabotage would have resulted in a product that wasn't fun to watch, not just continuity issues ☺️

He is a gentle soul to be sure, at least at the start, and never really loses the soft heart he has for others. For me, the journey was about how the book can change the reader, as opposed to how the reader can change the book, so I was okay with it never being about the power level of our lead, but I can see how it's a totally different tone and feel to the ones you've listed for sure. Hopefully they make some series more in your style for you in the upcoming series lineups!

The voidheart codex lets you absorb power from others, kinda like what the masters gave XQS except you can take it even when they aren’t offering. Once Kaiyan absorbed some of his inner force, Crazy Yan not only lost it but Kaiyan gained it, so Kaiyan got proportionately more powerful and Crazy Yan less so. If you think of it as a battery, he is stealing all the power and Yan can’t recharge except actual time or else items that give you 60 years of power etc. (or at least that’s how I read it 😅😅)
