I love the character relationships in this, him and his father have so much pain but I love that he still has his empathy and not bitterness and hate, but I also like that his dad isn’t just a typical terrible dad, he has his own reasons for pushing his kid to fight too 😭😭 Though with that shade saying “With hate I’m reborn if there was only love I’d be destroyed” I wonder if empathy of some kind will be more powerful against it in the end?

Fugui and cousin, like “I’m injured. You stabbed me.” *snickering*. I love them. I also loved that his kindness towards the FL started when she was a spider (not just a gorgeously attractive woman, though she now is that too), I ship them so much and I think part of it’s that she was nice to the soldier for no reason other than empathy even though she’s been raised to fear and hate humans, and he was kind to her for no other reason than empathy (and recognition of her empathy) for much the same, even showing her his daily routine so she’d have something to report bc he knows he can win anyway and life’s tough for minor spies with crap overlords holding serious grudges against him. And back to cousin: Communication. I LOVE THAT HE DID THAT, “I need some help, Dad wants me to kill you and he’s holding my friends hostage” like, the trust there is beautiful. I love these three so much 🥰

(Rumu’s dad tho is so bad, worst father ever. I get the impression that the lady who kidnapped Rumu has a story there, I would guess she’s the dragon with the snowflakes he wanted to know he didn’t blame her so I wonder what that story is 👀👀) (But don’t spoil me if it’s known!)

Love this very valid life lesson 😂😂 And a second, to round it out: Ultimately, you are responsible for your own life choices. Instead of blaming everyone but yourself for your life not being how you want it to be if it’s not, instead look at where you are, where you want to be, and plan a path to walk that might actually get you there in a way where you can still live with yourself when you arrive at your destination 😂 (And if the voices in your head are suggesting mass murder of family and friends is a brilliant and A+ path, maybe don’t listen to the voices in your head 😂)

The ML is the kid of the main couple in Love and Pavilion but they show the relevant parts as flashbacks in this one so this one can be watched as a standalone

I am hoping all three airing dramas (this, Blood River, Whispers of Fate) have joined hands to air together intentionally so that the black water marketing accounts won't know which to sabotage (or will be hired to sabotage or support different ones) and won't target any of them so brutally as they would be able to do if airing alone, and that we therefore won't see as much of that for this October run🙏🙏 I can dream, lol.

It breaks immersion (in that it breaks the third wall), but given he isn't going to live through his next fight without those powers without some serious plot armor (tho as the protagonist he likely would get some) and he knows he's going to get them from those eight masters, it'd be weirder if he wasn't following those eight masters down that cliff in my eyes. (I've not read the book to know how it played out there, but I'd imagine much more serious, and possibly leaning a lot more into the, 'I feel I owe you because I was unable to save my old friend AKA your dad (hence why I am carrying around his sword sheathe) so that's why I'm giving you my powers since you're avenging him' angle, and the whole conflicting orthodox/unorthodox energy being potentially lethal to the person being injected with it, so not necessarily a kindness on behalf of those other 4 to do it either.)

LCZ is dubbed with another VA, XQS/XMM is dubbed by CY, but I agree his own voice is beautiful, so soothing to the ear for me too 🥰 (tho I did love LCZ’s voice as well.)

He uses his own voice to dub himself sometimes, tends to be a production choice I think. This one and Mysterious Lotus Casebook are the two with his own voice I’ve seen. Most of his others I’ve watched were dubbed by a different voice actor. (The one who did the monk from Blood of Youth 😂)
