I agree, however I don't think it is impossible. Maybe it was something that the high ups on youku recommended…
True, however most of the times they mention things that circulate or are confirmed, so the meeting will happen. No one knows if that is the reason for the delay though.

I hope the rest of the danmei adaptations actually get to see the light of day. It's been years since they filmed them and they are good productions, so I really want to watch them.

They definitely dealt better with LoN, but that one was not a danmei adaptation and most ''bromance'' scenes were cut. On the other hand, this one seems to be more daring in that department and it also is adapted from a danmei novel (which they follow pretty accurately so far). But then again, it didn't even have proper subs for days lol, even though it was highly anticipated...

True, but unfortunately we never get any legit info with Cdramas, so everything is just speculation or based on melons that no ones knows if they are true.
Even dramas that we know will not air due to controversies have never really been announced as "cancelled".

The Rose issue was definitely a problem, so maybe they just want to low profile the series for a while until people forget about it or until they find something else to talk about.

Tbh it could be anything. AvenueX also mentioned that meeting though and even though many people dislike her, she has legit info on chinese entertainment. Even though there is this meeting we don't know it is has any connection with the delay, so I suppose we will see in the future. If it ends up dropping after the so called meeting then the rumor could be true.

For the time being, I am hoping you are right and we get to watch the series soon (along with some other long anticipated ones)

The conference rumour doesn't make sense, it's not like they didn't know when it was & they scheduled to clash…
I agree, however I don't think it is impossible. Maybe it was something that the high ups on youku recommended them to do after the series broadcasted, because they thought it would be better because of the traffic.
However, I agree that there is also probably something else that happened.

At least I hope we get to see the rest of it and this is just a delay.

for how long is this drama on hold? I think I read until April somewhere, Is this true?
We don't really know. It's just speculations because of the meeting that will take place between March 5th and 15th.

So it will probably be after that, but no one knows.

it means that the drama is on hold for now as no new eps are going to air for the timebeing
My take, I think that Youku just wants to ve cautious because of the meeting and just not attract too much attention in this drama, because of its theme and because it could affect the bans, because no matter how gay it is, people tend to overanalyze and post all the time about the scenes.

Only watched the first 4 eps, it is close to the novel so far. Not word of honor, but pretty obvious what the relationship is.

why only 6 ep ?? -_- I think its the new trend for most of 2023 kdramas.....
They are probably planning another season and this way of separation helps them make more profit

Exactly.
So far things seem to be going relatively well.

I hope there are no future problems.

How an actor being in a relationship and sleeping with their partner is crime ???? I can't understand people's…
It's not. It all has to do with the "moral thing" of the situation. The main problem was that when the "scandal" broke out, first news where that the girl in the photo is married. So yeah, that was the problem plus immature fans thinking their idol is not having any type of romantic or sexual relationships in his life.

If she was married (which she wasn't) that would cause a huge problem for him, since such things are considered a big deal in China. Of course it wouldn't be a crime, but the general public would condemn his actions and as a result sponsors would abandon him and he would basically lose his entire career. Of course maybe he would be lucky since he has a powerful family 🤷‍♀️

Anyhow, since it was confirmed they were both single at the time and he is taking legal actions, then hopefully there won't be a problem.

Like the other user mentioned, the reason they all met was because of the suicide case. After that both Tao Ze…
I do agree that the live action is not perfect, even if it follows the novel quite closely. To be honest, the general atmosphere of the novel is much darker and disturbing, something that the live action can't achieve (an atmosphere like that of the Bad Kids would do).

I don't know what it is. It's just that in the novel everything just feels much more suspensful. However, imo, the lack of subs definitely affects that, at least for me that don't know mandarin. I can't follow what is going on 100% and I can't feel any huge impact, because I am trying to decipher what the subs are saying.

Regarding the characters, I am not sure yet. These thoughts are coming from me after reaching the 5th novel and here we are in the first case. I had similar thoughts about the characters in the first novel that I have while watching the first eps of the series.

Yeap, the novel is quite long, like 5 novels plus an 80 page epilogue. Personally I haven't finished it yet, but it is definitely worth the read, regardless of the series. It is very well written and easy to read. I am generally a slow reader, but I read the first 3 books in a week. Of course, you are completely right that no one should be required to read the book to understand the live action. Regardless of the series though, it is worth the read, especially if you are a fan of the investigation/psychological genre!

Rumors, this will air in February. I hope it's true but who knows. Also, I hope Mangotv will have suitable subtitles.…
Let's hope another platform picks this drama, because I don't think Mango will have subs at all. They don't really care about subs 😂

Kind of. He is an amateur extremely smart profiler. He provides the police with insight and he is one of the reasons why they solve the cases. He helps in other departments too and there is another thing happening later, but I don't want to spoil.

However, as you saw, at first he is mostly meddling because he or his close people are somehow involved.

Btw, I would definitely recommend you to read the book. You can find it online. It us fantastic.

Generally, so far, the series is very loyal to the novel. Of course there is no obvious mention of them chasing Tao Ze, but is it obvious from the scenes.

I mean, I don't find it that ''weird''. They have a very close relationship, so I get why Wei Zhou likes him, but yeah, Tao Ze doesn't really care lol.

Pei Su (Fei Du) imo is a fantastically written character. What you are saying is practically ''true''. He is a multy-faceted grey character. Definitely not your typical hero (more of an anti-hero) and his actions are extremely questionable.
When I started reading the novel, I had the same thoughts as you. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned up being a serial killer or something.
He is charming, smart, he knows when to talk and when to stay silent and he knows how to please people, even when he doesn't really feel like that.
His past has affected him very much, and from my perspective he likes criminal psychology mostly because he wants to know how people think and get into their minds and not so much because he wants to help them. He seems to be able to understand others emotions, but himself doesn't feel much. I feel like he doesn't know how to love and how it is to be loved and he avoids situations that take him out of his comfort zone. I actually find him to be a bit more ''emotional'' in the first two eps of the series, comparing to what I remember from the novel. That's my perspective at least without having read the final novel.

Generally, the romance is very slow paced. There are barely any scenes between the two leads in the first 2 books, and even less of them being ''romantic''.

Sorry, that got pretty long.

I haven't read the novel and I've only watched two episodes but can someone explain a couple of things. Why are…
Like the other user mentioned, the reason they all met was because of the suicide case.
After that both Tao Ze (Tao Ran) and Luo Wei Zhao (Luo Wen Zhou) took care of Pei Su (Fei Du), especially Tao Ze. Pretty sure he also visited or stayed in Tao Ze's house once in a while.
After that, he got infatuated with Tao Ze, so basically Pei Su and Luo Wei Zhou became rivals, because they both liked Tao Ze. It obviously is not clearly mentioned, but it is obvious from the scene that Pei Su gets out of the car (1st or 2nd episode) and asks Tao Ze to take him to dinner.
Besides that though, like Pei Su mentioned he wants to major in criminal psychology and he ends up helping them with the cases. I don't remember if it was mentioned that he helped them before, but as you saw in the first two eps, at first he is helping and giving advice mostly because of coincidences and because he is involved with Tao Ze.

Haven't finished the book yet, but it wasn't really a high profile suicide case. It was a simple suicide case and there was barely any investigation, because it was obvious from the investigation that was done that it was a suicide.
