Me now 🤡
I think you used a great phrase "ongoing lawsuit". It is a bit frustrating it is still ongoing, even though it is obvious who is in the wrong. But that is what you get with the justice system everywhere in the world.
I personally expected better from Youku, hoping that maybe they would do sth about it, maybe even resolving it sooner. On the other hand, like a friend said, it is the same platform that filmed a miniseries without having the rights to do so, just because they thought they could because they had the rights for the Hidden Love webdrama so...
Yes, thing is Youku is a shitty platform in general, so I am not truly sure what to even believe at this point or what has truly happened. And now there are rumours that we will get new materials tomorrow 🤷
Well, no matter the case, I hope everything goes well in the end.
I think he probably doesn't want to use his real name so he can detach himself from those allegations, avoid boycots etc. Basically to make people less pissed of with him. He did it in FoF and MJTY too.
JJY's contract expired back in 2024. Her activities did continue that is true, but I believe that we haven't seen a drama of hers since then.
That aside she did say her contract expired back in 2024, and pretty sure the agency claimed otherwise since then. I mean, her agency sued her. In my opinion, any sane person and especially a huge platform that invests millions and has its own legal team could at least foresee the possibility of sth like this happening.
Yes, maybe the whole "20-year-contract" issue is a more recent problem, but she had disputes with her agency for a while. They knew that. Hell, I knew that.
Plus, this isn't just a simple court case. We are talking about millions of dollars. Investments for platforms etc. They wouldn't just ignore it just because Siba stayed still for a couple of years after they sued their own artist.
That is why I said I don't get why there wasn't enough investigation done in time. If this was truly resolved, the court had sentenced Siba or whatever else they decided, this wouldn't be an issue and no one would be having this conversation now. I mean, even people wouldn't care. But it seems more like an ongoing case at least legally wise. Unless they just sue them for defamation or sth. But from everything I read, it seems that what started two years ago, never really ended.
Siba is a company and wants money like all companies. They want to gain as much as they can from her and they did it know, cause VoS is an anticipated series and money is involved. They may have thought that they would gain something like this. Or there may have been an under the table agreement. We can't really know and I am sure things are way more complicated that we know. However, the issue stays the same. Most probably they won't air VoS cause of this and maybe any of her dramas at least until this whole thing is settled.
We all know it's not her fault. I mean ask someone completely unrelated to this, tell them the story, and they can tell.
What I don't get, is why they didn't do anything about this earlier. Like C-entertainment industry is just insane. Even rocks know that.
Are we even being serious? Siba is like "Let me make a fake contract to just ruin everything cause I am like a child throwing a temper-tantrum" and everyone is watching like it is the Dune 3 premiere.
And I am sorry to say, but imo this is also the platform's and the crew's problem. This didn't just happen out of the blue. They all knew about this issue. Like I remember reading about it here in this comment section ages ago. I am sure that if me, a random MDL user, knew about it, they must have known too. This issue didn't just flew with a stork from the sky.
So my question is, why the hell didn't they do anything to resolve it earlier and why is youku doing jack shit? Like why? You are telling me that any person with logic and a brain didn't think that this could create a problem?
This has been an issue for ages. And not even this one in particular. Shit like this happen all the damn time! And what do they do? Avoid it, not deal with it, like it's their feelings.
If this was legally and properly resolved, Siba, even the damn Lion King wouldn't be able to do anything about it. They would be fined and goodbye to them for good. But apparently this is not the case, cause if it was this would never be a damn problem!
Sth similar happened with Lusi too. She unecessarily suffered for no reason cause her company was shit and now it is happening again and it will happen again, cause this is what they do. So for me, I am sorry to say, this should have been dealt with by the platform before they even started filming.
Siba can go jump of a high buildying, but we all knew what they are like. We all know how many of these companies work. They didn't just turn terminator, because they woke up wrongly one day. So the platform is more at fault for me and even the crew. They should have made proper arrangements with JJY to throw them in the deepest pits of hell, so they won't be able to just decide to cause the damn drama-apocalypse over this. Sometimes you can't change a monster, so you have to kill it.
But I think that Boston may change that.
About YouTube I'm not sure how the transaction is made, but it seems that if you choose an episode that hasn't aired yet they show you the cost (it seems to be 3 euros per month here). And I'm pretty sure all eps will have English subs since the ones that are free up to episode 8 do (and they upload one per day for free).
