I’ve been bingeing this on Viki with user comments on and only see hate comments for him. Your take is very…
Thank you. It just depends on the crowd of watchers. So far, the majority of us understand CXZ's point of view why he had to do what he had to do to a not so innocent person like LMT.
I'm glad that LMT didn't regain her memories any earlier OR else she wouldn't see, feel, and know how much CXZ has fallen in love with her, how much he has to bend to protect her, who he has to go against to be with her, how genuine, gentle, and faithful his heart is for her and only her. I'm also glad that the writers made it this way, for LMT's safety at the moment, she's forced to stay by CXZ's side and witness his love for her.
I don't know how Ziyu is in the novel but in the drama, does he truly love her? They haven't showed much BUT he allows her to do illegal trading in the midst of bandits? Sure, under the disguise of a man, but she's still a woman, no chance against a guy if they really wished her harm. She literally has to travel in such faraway places for business. He had her secretly keep all that money?! That's basically putting a HUGE target on her and is what technically got her killed. He allowed her to prance around danger and commit all sorts of crimes ALL the time for his mission? And if caught, the punishment for her crimes would surely be death. I don't know, LMT was being used as LW too just under the pretense of love or a nontraditional free life that women weren't allowed to have. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding Ziyu. I mean, sure, his hands are tied but he doesn't have to support her this way. CXZ would NEVER allow LMT to commit such crimes that would cause her to end up in prison or dead for his sake. He's the one who gave up all his money to her and pardoned her when he divorced her. He doesn't put her in danger, period.

I'm glad that LMT has all her memories back and now knows that CJ is Lord Huaiyang. Only then can she see that it's truly difficult to be him. All sides want him dead yet he's the first to be sacrificed for the country's peace. He has so much pressure, stress, and lives on his shoulders. His life doesn't belong to him but to people who are constantly trying to kill him. It's only his intelligence and luck that has saved him from time to time YET he doesn't even hate Lu Wen who has been a pest to him and the courts for years. Honestly speaking, CXZ is very admirable and noble. I hope LMT sees that and won't waste their precious time with petty revenge.
Cui Xing Zhou has got to be one of my favorite male leads in a long time. He’s smart on the battlefield and…
Omg! THIS! Perfectly put.
"Unlike other male leads, he naturally exudes this domineering aura that doesn’t require raising your voice or oppressing others."
The short drama world has gotten too toxic and cringey with the male leads trying to dominate the female leads with their violence, I can't go back there anymore.
After watching avenueX's first impression of this drama, I can somewhat understand that this drama has a certain…
I totally understand why people think this drama is slow. They should've started with LMT being badass battling with CXZ and then bam the amnesia. But it's okay, I still LOVE this drama no matter what. This drama is so mature and well written so far.
What I find so cute and fascinating about LMT is, she's always so expressive with what's in her heart. She subconsciously does it even as Lu Wen BUT that's only towards CJ/CXZ though.
During the amnesia LMT days, LMT never complained about working hard, but instead, she whined about CJ not comforting her, hugging her, having more skin ship, not trusting her, not sharing his burdens with her. I can't believe she's such a woman! This is a good thing, if you're wondering. Like you would think a tough bandit life would teach her how to be less emotional but she can't help it when she sees CJ. She wants him as a real hubby. Hahah. I mean, the girl expresses hate towards him as a KISS??! Then even as Lu Wen right now, she's been complaining to him that she barely sees him anymore, that she wished they'd go back to the carefree days, that he no longer just focuses on her but talks about state affairs too much. As much as she believes it's a facade to retrieve information from him, she genuinely feels the pain of the lost days too from time to time and the flashbacks definitely nail it.
What I'm trying to say is, LMT has lived as LW for the past 3 years, never really showing her soft, fragile, weak, or gentle side BUT when it comes to CJ/CXZ, she always does unconsciously. Like when he looked at her for doing what she did to the garrison's nephew, she immediately did that cute puppy face that she may have gone too far. He's her safe card or soft spot, brings her back to humanity.
Cui Xing Zhou is most afraid of Lu Wen's return BECAUSE.....that means, Lu Wen is going to take back Liu Mian Tang, his concubine, and interfere with Xing Zhou's marriage prospects with her. HAHAH!
This drama is so well written, just having short flashbacks of LMT feeding tanghulu to CJ and her running out of their home in Lingquan town to greet him when they returned tells us that LMT misses the good days of the amnesia one when BOTH weren't pushed back to their original positions as enemies. Like LMT said, they were so carefree back then AND on the same team. As the drama progresses, like LMT has complained to CJ so many times now, she's like literally screaming inside telling him that everything is changing around them, CJ is becoming more and more like CXZ and she, more and more like LW as the days goes by.
LMT keeps advising CJ not to overestimate his cleverness but at the same time, she too, shouldn't overestimate hers because behind the scenes she may or may not know, he's doing everything in his power to keep her safe knowing she can kill him at any time especially sleeping in the same bed every night BUT it's a risk he's willing to take. I'm sure he senses more than what he shares.
I have not watched the last few episodes properly, so I don't know if they changed things. But LMT was basically…
So far, the writing has been mature. LMT is keeping CXZ safe to keep herself safe. I don't think she'll truly hurt him out of vengeance later on or at least I hope not. LMT has been on the wrong path ever since three years ago. She believes that living on a mountain with bandits, playing a cat and mouse game with the law, living under an alias is to be free BUT it's really not. There are consequences to everything. I hope that living with CXZ has allowed her to see things from his perspective. He's trying to protect his people and country. It's the people who abide by the law when they can easily go rogue too that are admirable. If everyone played by the code of thieves, there would be too much bloodshed that even LMT wouldn't wish to see that.
