Well put. Everyone wants a wife and 26 concubines and then they whine, bitch and complain when it becomes a problem…
Every man, even today, wants concubines and mistresses, and would cheer if the social norms still encouraged it HOWEVER it takes a real man who truly loves his wife and their children to remain faithful and put away their selfish needs. That's CXZ. He's truly a wise man.
Can someone spoil me and explain if it's mentioned in the novel where the real Cui Jiu went and how is CXZ supposed to enter the capital after LMT if he's forbidden to enter the capital without a decree?
I think it has a lot to do with ML being pure? It's easier to suppress his urges versus someone who isn't.
I think by them making him a virgin in the drama, if I had to really ponder it, it's easier to believe for me versus someone who has already tasted the carnal pleasures. 😂
I just love CXZ how he discontinued the generational and social cycle of concubines and mistresses from his father after the toxic life he has endured. He loves and respects LMT beyond anything because like some have said in here, she's basically undeserving at this point. Her reputation makes it impossible. The way he explained it to his mother was literally the most touching a man can do for a woman he truly loves.
I haven’t watched ep 20-21 yet. Have they parted ways?
LMT has changed since knowing the truth. She doesn't care about him anymore or at least acting like she doesn't. He's been running around trying to catch the bad guys! He must be exhausted.
"The canary he has raised" come on that's a bit harsh 🥲He didn't made up her personality, he has fallen for…
LMT lost her memories of the past three years as the bandit leader, so technically, like you said, the "canary LMT" who only had eyes for CJ was sort of her real self too. CJ never imposed or forced a persona on her. This drama made it VERY clear that losing her memories didn't impact any of her other abilities such as to critically think and fall in love.
I think I understand another reason why LMT begged CJ not to tell her the truth at the waterfall. It's a bit too late. She already knows the truth. It would've been different if she didn't and he confessed the truth to her. But now that she knows the truth and perhaps even more than he does, it doesn't change anything nor matter. The truth is a lot more complicated. She rather leave as LMT and him as CJ as their beautiful farewell. Her enemy is CXZ, not CJ. For him to tell her the truth that he's Lord Huaiyang, she won't be able to stay by his side much longer. She's buying time to rebuild her resources and spend the last moments with him. She could've killed him, plenty of times, but hasn't.
As for CXZ, he knows that she has regained her memories for a while now. He's not dumb. He's giving her time and space to come to him when she's ready. He's been ready to tell the truth or her come to the truth for quite some time now. He's ready to explain everything and accept anything she wishes as long as she doesn't leave. He's not afraid of her knowing the truth, he's MOST AFRAID of losing her. He just wanted the both of them to stay in the illusion for a bit longer, until he marries her because by then, even if they both confront reality, reality would also be, she is his wife and HE HAS to do everything to protect her. He has to justify it that way too to protect her from fellow bad guys and the courts.
