I deeply enjoyed this drama because of the mains and the supporting characters. The two major things that bothered…
I agree. The director's taste in filming did affect certain important scenes and revelations. I wished there were more close ups because this director loves to zoom out when it's about to get juicy or somewhere.
Second Zhao Lusi drama I've finished since Romance of Tiger and Rose. I have to say the rating of 8.1 is surprising…
The majority of people who had something bad to say about this drama are ironically ALP fans. Lol After I'm done rewatching this drama, I'm going to pick back up on ALP. I do remember the CGI and fight scenes being better, for sure, so I agree with ALP fans. However, at that time, the story wasn't that engaging to me, so we'll see how it goes when I restart it again. Yes, the best part about this drama is the development of the characters.
If it was your first drama with Wang AnYu (and even if you didn't like him here) I recommend you try his other…
I'm not into modern dramas either. I feel as though things that work in ancient dramas don't really work in modern. But yes, I'll give these a try, thank you.
If you were to compare Wang An Yu's Yuan Qi to Lu Si's other male lead characters in Who Rules the World and Love…
Yep, I appreciate the reversal of roles. I adore Gu Jin who is so carefree and aspires to live his way after having witnessed his parents live for the world.
I LOVEEEEE ZLS.. I’ve probably watched and enjoyed most if not all of her shows. She is one of my favorite actresses.…
My reply to you wasn't to offend or convince you but if you took it that way, that wasn't my intention. I agree to disagree if you didn't get that. Lol
This wasn't an invitation to fight. If I wanted to fight, there are plenty of comments here besides yours that I would've joined for chit chat. I actually liked your comment and thought we could have a friendly exchange but I guess, I was wrong. Again, I don't want to offend anyone.

I respect that and that is also your opinion of this drama. If I was the only one who loved this drama, I would say, I'm so biased to the point of no return. However, a lot of us here really enjoyed this drama. It was epic to us regardless of ratings, popularity, production value, and comparisons to other dramas. The story moved in a linear direction, in sequence, everything made sense, there was strong character development, not a zig zag back and forth. I think people may be a bit confused with performance versus how the characters are supposed to be. That's why I really think both WAY and ZLS did a great job with what they had. We all agree that there were limited scenes to showcase their emotions and passionate love. When Feng Yin first learned the truth behind YQ's sacrifices in Episode 35, she was no longer A Yin who'd cry like a baby and run to him for an embrace. She has lived so many lifetimes and died so horrifically each one, she had become so calm and mature, very detached. Thus, her reaction wasn't intense with a burst of tears. So maybe when we compare the emotional scenes in here versus ZLS's other dramas, ZLS seems like she didn't deliver BUT I differ. I've watched almost all of her projects too! I've always been a big fan of hers. She is one of the finest actresses of her generation but it's not because of that that I like her so much in here. This drama just hits different and in such a good healing way for some of us. Perhaps ZLS didn't act the way we're used to, but I was still touched. Despite all the flaws, I just really liked the drama overall.
WAY and ZLS worked with what they had. They created an epic story. If it weren't for them, this drama wouldn't have been as memorable. That's how you know it's the cast that made the magic work and not the script. This drama really put their acting chops to the test. And they made it. They were quite impressive in here considering the limited script, skinship, and all the red flag ingredients people want to see. YQ was probably too green flag for some. Haha.
Not all ZLS's characters and projects are going to be hits or well liked. There's no perfect drama; therefore, there's no perfect actress who can always choose hit projects. Even if ZLS personally chose this project because she believed it was the best, it doesn't mean the audience will like it just as much and agree with her.
The only issue this production had was it being rushed which affected the CG and editing and then of course, the script could've been better. But I'm glad this happened because only through imperfect dramas can the actors truly show their craft.
Oh well - it was a fun ride any time with Lusi, But honestly, you wait for someone for a thousand years and when…
If you were to compare Wang An Yu's Yuan Qi to Lu Si's other male lead characters in Who Rules the World and Love Like The Galaxy, of course YQ is going to look like a weakling. The story of this drama is written that way. Both YQ and A Yin, actually all the youngsters in here, were played at one point. They made many mistakes and don't know everything. The whole climax of this story is when YQ kills A Yin, so he's supposed to regret, mourn, and exist like a ghost in the thousand year wait. If that makes him weak instead of faithful, perhaps it's the world that doesn't deserve him. I'm glad Lu Si chose this project. She's already had very strong male leads before, don't want to see that again so soon. She wants to try something different as in having a weaker male lead and it's not good enough?! I don't know if Lu Si is type casted in certain roles or if the audience only cares for a certain type of male lead. In 2023, all of the green flag male leads received no attention. It's always the red flag male leads that gain fandom. Lol
I already see many comments where Audience is planning to re-watch The Last Immortal. This drama has good re-watch…
I agree. This drama isn't perfect but the overall story and character development was well done. Like you said, the cast executed all of the scenes very well but it's the selection of scenes and script that intentionally focused on friendship, youth, and pure love. I'm sure this production knows how to film passionate kissing and love scenes but they chose not to. The kisses in here are so innocent, sweet, and cute, not meant to be adult like with passion. Thus, the angst isn't going to be hot and full of sexual tension, it's more of Yuan Qi's sad puppy eyes following Feng Yin around, which is so cute.
Not long ago in here before that episode aired. I was feeling sorry for Yuanqi how he never get to have a proper…
Feng Yin is Feng Yin, we can clearly see that because she's been through a lot over the 1,000 years. However, it's Yuan Qi that brings A Yin out of Feng Yin all the time. As long as Yuan Qi exists, so will A Yin. I really liked the dream too, cried a bit because it was so touching and sweet. Feng Yin didn't wish Yuan Qi a happy birthday and then they sort of skipped the celebration for the reinvestigation of the case, so it was very lovely that A Yin who only cares for Yuan Qi got to wish him a happy birthday. 🥹
It was so sweet and sad when the scene revealed that Yuan Qi regretted meeting A Yin not because of how it was misunderstood, but because he has caused her so much suffering. He said he was her tribulation and not the other way around.
I enjoyed the drama, but will I rewatch it? No. The reunion between the leads was lacklustre. I never really felt…
That's probably how they intended it to be. Even the kissing scenes in here are conservative compared to those dramas you mentioned, so this show isn't entirely focused on the angst and passion but rather youthful friends who gradually fall in love.
It's sort of funny how in real life, Wang An Yu is A Yin and Zhao Lu Si is Yuan Qi. Hahah. WAY is being hated on just because he isn't as popular and well known as ZLS and her previous costars. He doesn't have a strong enough fandom to protect him yet. WAY doesn't deserve all the hate. He's doing a fantastic job in here. And those who claim to hate his character, have ya'll truly watched the drama? I mean, this drama LITERALLY spoon feeds the audience on what is happening. From Episode 25 onward, he literally carries the emotional part of the show. I don't think anyone could've done a better performance than WAY as GJ/YQ especially those heartbroken and puppy eye scenes. Besides being popular, I doubt others can hold weight as much as WAY as GJ/YQ.
