Oh my I didn't know that! Actually, I came to know him first cause of his beautiful OSTs for multiple other cdramas I liked and then "meeting" him as an actor! Honestly, his"rags to riches" story makes him even more admirable to me!

Personally, this is my 2nd or 3rd drama with him I think? Since I usually search and mark based on the plot of a cdrama it's not rare for me to see new or old faces and most of the time it takes time to even recognize some of the actors if the styling is too diferent haha But I think LYN is quite memorable thanks to his not so common sharp masculine features and I would consider that a plus! And like u said, I think his acting is quite decent and here it stands out even more thanks to how much he fits the role!

I see, thanks...That means it will take a while and hearing the spoilers I can sort of feel the headache coming already, sigh...But I understand it I guess, with all other males of his family gone and his grandmother adoring both of them so much, I can see why the ML would act like this and "love" him to goodness...Plus, from the looks of it, the Wei cousin seems to have been selling a totally different image all these years in front of them, which had them drop their guards and adore/spoil him. Still, it will be annoying to watch it, I think haha...Cause I don't find him likable AT ALL as of rn!

Rather than acting I think some have an issue with his visuals not being the usual flower boy handsome ML type and try to find other excuses to justify it...Personally, I find him handsome in his own way, he just has more sharp masculine features and honestly, here it suits his role and enhances it even more if you ask me! Since he is supposed to play a brute general who is soft on the inside and hard on the outside ><

Currently trying to catch up after letting this marinate and I need a spoiler about something for my peace of mind...I am on ep 12 and I am curious how many eps it will take for the Mr.Wei cousin to be exposed? My patience is running out with his antics!

I came here after S2 and now that I've reached the finale of this Season as well, I have to say I LOVED the final match and winner way more in this one! It just felt more thrilling and Seok-Jin truly deserved it by all means! Also, I loved Dongjae and was so disappointed to see him get shot down by the others so early in the game...I am sure he had many more to offer as a player compared to others aka the "mooch off" gang, like how Seokjin called them spot on lol
Orbit was a strong player too, but his whole mantra like logic of protecting/helping the weak, was so pretentious and irritating to watch...Because this is a survival show and when the time comes, they would all have to turn on each other eventually! Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a strategy of his own by eliminating strong contestants like Dongjae early and keeping the majority of the weak players around, since it would make his journey to the finals as easy as a walk in the park, just like how Siwon noticed and said.
And another annoying thing was how Orbit and Dong joo were trying from as early as first eps to make the Seokjin-Siwon(Dongjae) duo/trio look like topdogs and the privileged when the gap between them was literally just 1-2 pieces and after some eps the Orbit gang even overtook them by way more pieces but then there was no talk about who is privileged and who are the underdogs anymore ofc cause it wasn't adventurous anymore...It was really interesting to see this side of human nature...Trying to act like a victim while isolating the toughest players and branding them as the privileged...So watching Seokjin overcome all that, go to prison, bet everything and come out victorious in the end felt exhilarating to say the least! ><
Oh, and my most unlikable pair because of their dirty play style are definitely Joon bin and Yu Min. I know that in this game manipulation, lying etc. are all part of the game, but I still can't help but view their playing tactics as ugly.
And as a final observation, as someone who has watched both Seasons, see the difference between Seokjin/Siwon and Hyung gyu/Sohee duos? They both had a special connection from ep1 as patterns and grew close, but Siwon never gave up on the game and just knew how much she wanted to win but also how to be "faithful" to her game partner by sharing info and helping one another. Meanwhile, Sohee just gave up and honestly, she didn't seem to have the will from the start. Both she and Kihyun seemed as if they came for the games and the whole journey rather than the prize money.
Btw I really hope there will be a Season 3! I am curious to see where the production will take us and what new games and drama will unfold!

There are some articles on allkpop,koreaboo etc. talking about it but the couple hasn't made a public statement themselves I think and personally I think there is no reason to make one since they are not "real celebs" so that's their private life as citizens but "detective " fans following them since EXchange saw they had already taken their pics off from social media some time ahead and went to trips/spend time without eo even before articles and started talking online.
Hence that top korean comment: "Finished filming for the show in September, broke up in November, opened YouTube channel and filmed an actor profile in January, released a breakup article in April and started broadcasting in May. Looking at the timeline, all I can do is laughㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ"

Personally, I think the whole hyung gyu - Sohee "affair" is a stretch even if he did break up with his gf, I doubt Sohee would be the reason...It's just Soheee's lack of motivation to win and ult support for HG that made many twist it...

Same here, but the thing is, Hyung Gyu broke up with his EXchange girlfriend Ha Eun, around the time he participated in The Devil’s Plan 2. That timing surprised a lot of people and after watching the show many knetz started speculating things. On top of that, many viewers were disappointed with Sohee for not putting her all into the game or competing as hard as Hyung Gyu and the others. Instead, she seemed more focused on supporting Hyung Gyu rather than making strategic moves for her own benefit. Both her and Kihyun lacked motive tbh.
People were also unhappy with how the production team handled this season overall, it seems. And then there's the noticeable difference in how Hyung Gyu's personality came across, he seemed very different in the dating show compared to the survival show. Which honestly, I think makes perfect sense. After all, a dating show and a survival game are bound to bring out different sides of someone.
And for knetz cruelty as kpop fan I am not surprised tbh I just wasn't expecting to see it on such an intense level here...Cause I expected in drama/shows they wouldn't get as heated, but alas...

Unlike Sohee, who had the brains but lacked the motive (and I just can't tell why). Like some players were clearly NOT suited for this type of survival game and it showed (even if they had the intellect).

Well said, honestly...The reason for this season's downfall is wayyy beyond just Hyung gyu tbh. It's a combination of all you mentioned with a BIG emphasis on the production team fumbling the bag when it came to the games structures...Even the PD said in an interview he had thought it in his head completely different compared to how it came out and that he didn't excpect things in prison to head like the way they did lmao I just hope if S3 happens they will work on it and produce smth better and more balanced for the sake of both the audience and the contestants...

Hmm idk I think there is a difference between bad aka hate comments and those who just give a well-grounded negative review after finishing the show based on the things they felt unsatisfied with. And I think we can find both kinds of comments in MDL or anywhere else. So the anger was justified in my opinion on some cases, mostly against the production's choices for this season rather than the contestants themselves (though I do feel salty about some of them cause certain players lacked the motive cough cough)...So it wasn't just people with anger issues who reacted lol But I do agree that some have clearly gone way too far and missed the point, using this as just a way for them to release pent-up anger on the contestants, which is wrong...

I 100% agree with everything you've said, actually! I also think this season's issues heavily lie on the production and not the contestants themselves! Though personally I think the casting could have been a bit more balanced even though compared to last season we certainly had smarter players here but some (espescially from living area) seem to lack the motive or other (mostly prison area) seemed to lack the socializing skills and sadly that was tendrimental with the way the production layed out the games and script... I really wish if season 3 happens, they will make the living/prison areas a bit more balanced with the rules and rewards and there will also be individual games instead of emphasizing alliances. We will see~
