For YXW, jumping was her own option. If she lives and stay on that boat and get to Jing, her whole family will be declared traitor. She rather die than bring her whole family down. They have the scene where her dad and the king talked, and they were already suspected of being a traitor for letting TTJ escape. And with YXW with him, they believe she will become queen if he manages the throne (they didn’t know whether they love or hate each other like we do lol). Whereas if she is not with him, then they can say he kidnap her/she was unwilling, and her whole family is therefore innocent

So in the book, TTJ got one eye blind, all his arms and feet’s tendons were cut (unlike in the drama where he only cut one hand’s tendon to let the poison out). He used all his might to jump off the boat like YXW did. When YXW found him, his wound was licked by a dog, the dog got killed because his blood is full of poison, so the dog’s owner, a bunch of kids throw rocks at him. YXW stopped the kids from abusing a wounded person, then realised it was TTJ, so she helped him get treatment in a village. Initially, the village refused to let them in, because they think they are demons. But after some talking, YXW managed to tell the villagers she can exorcise the demon, in trading for medicines and lodging for them. Turn out, the demon wanted a bride every few weeks, and this time, it’s the daughter of the house they are staying in. So in order to figure out what kind of demon this is, they got TTJ to dress as a bride (because he couldn’t move anyway), while she follows behind. Turn out, it’s a demon tree, who create puppets out of the skins of all the human it took their life force from. The tree demon was especially a strong one because it managed to obtain an artefact of the old god, the purple flower. There are like 3 flowers (?), and it seems the other 2 is the good one. This purple flower is a cursed one. Whoever use it will have its power for a short amount of time, but then will not have a good life, apart from bad luck, sickness, die young is the consequences of using such flower. TTJ didn’t know, he only cares for power and he didn’t want to go blind, so he tried to absorb it. YXW knows the flower, and feel that it will just compound his evil side, so she took it instead of him, swap her eye for his, the purple flower make it look like her eyes are in tact, but she’s actually blind in 1 eye. Long story short, by the end of it, the flower took her eyesight completely, her life force also going downhill, she has to endure pains every day, and the flower will make sure she’ll die by 20, so she just moving thing along by jumping off the wall

There are quite a few holes in the drama, but like you said, by waiting, she saw his true evil annd coldness and therefore determined to follow through with her mission. This is especially important after the death of XL. In this case, her father and sect was the coffin n XL is the nail lol!

Haha yea, there are many parts I want it to be longer too. But a 40ep constraint is making this tough. Considering ppl keep screaming how good ashes of love is, and it was like a 67 pages novel or something it, and has like 60+ ep! And here, a 130+ chapters is reduced to 40eps 🤦‍♀️
