If you read other’s comments, the general consensus is that first 30ep is great, after that down hill, people will rewatch the series for only their otp moments, which speaks volumes about this series

:) haha I know where you are coming from. I was able to avoid the few things that frustrated you: totally skipped from ep2 to like 26? I started the series at 26, after trying ep 1, and felt overwhelmingly bored with the direction it was going, so decided to check back later when it was on the half way mark, and found myself interested! After it was finished, I went back and watch the SuSu with Ye Hua’s human lives together. To this day, I haven’t had one bit of interest in the first 10 episodes!
I guess many had no problem with how YE Hua treated her because they probably have read the book, and the internal monologue show why she was ok with how he treated her: because they were meant to wed soon. So yea, in principle, what he did is not ok, but if the victim is ok with it, who are we to say :/? And one of the reason why this drama is sooooo popular is because there are so many kissing and bed scenes! Yup, we are just a bunch of desperate for food passionate love? Lol!!!
And yes, I also agree with you that many side stories serve no purpose whatsoever, you can skip them and you still get the story! Same goes with the villains, they are so laughable, you don’t need to watch them!
