Listen, writers have been sentenced to 10 years in prison as recently as the last 2 years for writing "homoerotic"…
?? is that addressed to me? Because I said to be grateful that despite some authors being arrested for being considered subversive by the Chinese govt they continue to still write in the genre. So, I don't know how I come across as forcing anything... other than saying that some Production don't want to deal with the issue at all but still decide to give fans of the manwhas at least something, and that they have to consider the censors when doing these productions. I just don't think it's 100% accurate to lay the blame on the production companies being anti-BL.
As it stands, it turns out the issue with this drama is NOT the BL theme but actually the "Era" in which the story takes place. That's the reason it got pulled again at the last minute...and based on what some Chinese reporters said, it looks like the historical era aspect of this drama is likely to never get past the Chinese censors anyway... so there's that.
Let's not continue on the bullying. He was never charged with sexual assault because the sex between them was…
How did I "victim blame"? I never said he wasn't guilty, and I never said she wasn't innocent. Quite contrary. I was pointing out comments like yours, in where you attack a person online for something they didn't do or say. My point is, the kind of condolences Hara needs is for everyone to realize her private life isn't something that people need to discuss at all, whether you think you are defending her or not. Frankly, the more "defending" she gets the more the topic stays in the news, the more she cannot return to South Korea and pick up where she left off. It was KeyEast, the entertainment industry, and Knetizens who made it impossible for her to restore her life after this guy trashed it... and THAT'S where the blame lies...when your own country abandons you, where are you to go???
Let's not continue on the bullying. He was never charged with sexual assault because the sex between them was…
"Discredit Hara's testimony"???
Defending him I am not... the dude is a convicted felon...for blackmailing her, attacking her, & destroying her property... THAT IS NOT DENIABLE... the guy is a sleaze... but saying he "sexually assaulted her" which is essentially "r#$%" is untrue and was NEVER part of the facts in this case. Hara herself NEVER accused him of sexual assault.
You guys believe that this guy is the reason she did harm to herself, I think not.. I think she was better than to let this guy take that much from her, by the fact that this little girl scratched the shit out of his face and didn't go down without a fight! I'm proud of her for that. She defended herself, and rightly so... so I don't THINK she was that WEAK!
What I do think is the society at large KNOWS what he did YET, like KeyEast, didn't renew her contract, wouldn't let her promote in South Korea, and regular South Koreans forced her to Japan to make a living. It's the Knetizens.. or people like you, who go around talking about this crap and bringing it up instead of allowing her to get on with her life and recover from the situation..it's the constant discussion of her private life and along with judgmental attitudes that made her look FLAWED to society, and, thus, not someone they'd employ in her field of work!! She was employed and working in JAPAN for a reason!! and it didn't have to do with this guy not getting the proper amount of JAIL time!!
....and now everyone wants to act all passionate and accuse someone they deem "responsible" to actions of sexual assault he never committed. Fine.. go ahead and continue to lie about him to make yourselves feel better. but the fact of the matter is...HE ISN'T THE ISSUE.... and if you deem me saying that is trying to say he's innocent and Hara was guilty then you're one of these bully types who want to go championing on social media attacking innocent people, not LISTENING and UNDERSTANDING the point...and just trying to fling POINTING FINGERS in people's face because you feel better having someone to get angry about. This is the kind of thing that created this kind of Cancel Culture that invites a situation like we see with Hara. The blame is in the wrong direction, period..
Let's not continue on the bullying. He was never charged with sexual assault because the sex between them was…
"...please let this team do their jobs properly and investigate further..." That's MY point. This isn't a matter for social media Justice Warriors. Especially when the facts you are posing are false and fake. I have a hard time seeing untruths, constantly posted about, when there are legal documents, court records of proceedings, and a timeline that shows none of it is true.
1) he never sexually assaulted Goo Hara,
2) Goo Hara was released from any and all contracts in South Korea in January, 2019 & was promoted from Japan through the agency Production Ogi, who she signed with in June, 2019,
3) Production Ogi didn't "force" her to apologize, since she didn't have a label, and I doubt her manager who found her demand that of her either. Unfortunately this is just part of SK celebrity culture, or in fact, that's what SK citizens do in general, apologize for "perceived" wrongdoing, because SK society as a whole attacks people's character if they don't.
4) When Goo Hara testified to the judge, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS, she was with a Japanese agency and didn't need to HIDE anything from the judge regarding any of her ex-b/f's wrongdoing. She had an open forum to address any and all her grievances and didn't have ANY SK company on her back making demands for her to conceal or lie about any of it on their behalf. They already kicked her to the curb... which begs the question: Why isn't anyone angry at KeyEast for dumping her in January?
5) He was sentenced to 3 years, but for this being a first time offense, which, if you are familiar with SK laws, he got it suspend for 3 years...and if he gets in trouble again during the 3 years, he will have to serve time. Meaning, he is currently on probation, and, thus, it's not true "..got away with no charge..."
So, at least, when your warring for justice, and posting FACTS about this case, give honest information... and THAT'S why it's best to let the police, prosecutors, and judges, who get ACCURATE and COMPLETE information, do their job.
Let's not continue on the bullying. He was never charged with sexual assault because the sex between them was…
"...further investigate.." implies that the police didn't do due deligence and BOTH Goo Hara's lawyers AND prosecutors, as well as HIS lawyers, Goo Hara herself behind closed doors with the JUDGE, her roommate behind closed doors with the JUDGE, her label CEO behind closed doors with the JUDGE, didn't provide ALL THE EVIDENCE in this case. ...it's just Knetizens attempt to "FEEL GOOD" that this guy is the ONLY reason...and nothing more...
Goo Hara has been bullied AFTER this incident!! She attempted suicide back in May! Then she does a performance on Japanese TV where the entire front of her dress fell down on national tv while she was dancing exposing her nude pasties over her breasts. While Japanese fans comforted her, Knetizens attacked her...and that happened only ONE MONTH after she attempted suicide. ...the idea that this was about this one dude is ridiculous...the idea that there's anything FURTHER that needs to be investigated is ridiculous... it's just a witch hunt so Knetizens can feel better about their own bullying and go back to business as usual after this all subsides!
please everyone consider bring attention to this #최종범_처벌 (the ex-boyfriend who sexually, physically,…
Let's not continue on the bullying. He was never charged with sexual assault because the sex between them was consensual. The judge watched the video and confirmed his stance which was that it wasn't molka, meaning he didn't release the tape either. He has acquitted of the molka charge, and he was charged 3 years suspended sentence of a 18 months sentence on 4 of the 5 charges. You don't get factors, like an OJ trial, with jury nullification, since SK only has judge trials. I'm quite sure they can handle it based on the law. He's been punished by their laws. You can argue it was too lenient..but that begs the point that the CITIZENS of SK need to address their politicians to change what judges mete down as sentences, not do a witchhunt based on one-sided articles that give half the information, and none of the information in total that the judge saw, as well as the closed door testimony from Goo Hara herself.
It serves no purpose now to demand and turn around to bully this dude to be punished further so that we can end up with another person who, based on a bad reputation, is no longer able to be employed in South Korea, shunned by friends and family, to the point he commits suicide himself. Let's just let the courts handle the matter.
Unfortunately for Goo Hara, this event was in a long series of things that the Knetizens decided to latch onto to in order to cyberbully her. Let's put the BLAME where it lies...which is this need to get into the private lives of celebrities, act like we have personal first-hand knowledge, and then take to being Social Justice Warriors on Social Media. This in itself is what creates the problem. In the USA, it is now known as Cancel Culture, and it's taken on a life of itself, in that, average citizens, with no celebrity, who don't hold the bullies' political and social beliefs will be docx and have random protesters show up at their home. This is not the direction any of us needs to be going in.
For Goo Hara, I just find it so sad that events out of her control kept piling on this year. This incident was just one in a long line that Knetizens bullied her over-- she was only able to get signed to a Japanese label and promote in Japan, they bullied her over eye surgery, while Japanese fans showed her support over her bra snaffu on Japanese TV, Knetizens bullied her over that issue...and so on and so on... Now these same Knetizens don't want to own up to the BLAME and instead want to turn their bullseye target on a dude, I don't care how much of a sleaze he is, that has already been punished according to the law... Like, let's just stop TARGETING each other all together.... and feeling the need to judge every little action people make, and delete Cancel Culture altogether. If someone has done something ILLEGAL, take it to the cops, or sue them in court...stop dishing the shit out on social media. That's NOT helping anyone!
Listen, writers have been sentenced to 10 years in prison as recently as the last 2 years for writing "homoerotic"…
It's like you refuse to understand the context here. China CENSORS its movies, news, and tv because that's what their political government does to stay in power. The government considers homosexuality to be subversive and, thus, it will never get past the censors. There are over a billion Chinese citizens who have decided that they'd rather have SOMETHING as opposed to NOTHING, and , thus, the entertainment industry works with censors and their scriptwriters to revise things to a level of bromance/sismance that the censors will find acceptable. Regular citizens don't get a say in what the Chinese government wants to censor...
im confused and annoyed with china lolso its based on a BL manhua and yet they are gonna force heteronormativity…
Listen, writers have been sentenced to 10 years in prison as recently as the last 2 years for writing "homoerotic" material in China. Pornography is illegal, and although China "pretends" that being a member of LGBQT is not a crime, it uses "pornography" as a way around going after gay people, by referring to any romantic interactions by those of the same sex as "obscene behavior". Be grateful that there are still Chinese writers willing to provide strong BL themes, and an entertainment industry willing to craft bromances to get around the Chinese censors at all. [https://thehill.com/opinion/civil-rights/418834-chinas-pornography-laws-are-a-backdoor-for-censorship]
Personally, this was finished filming back in 2016 and never aired. I don't ever think this one is seeing the light of day and will forever be shelved. It also doesn't help that Jin Mo had an affair with the lead actress during this drama and for about 6 months before moving on to date his current wife. I'm not sure he or she wants to be reminded. =/
It's a beauty standard that's been woven into Asian culture for centuries. Since nobles could spend less time…
Whereas in Europe and America, it's the opposite. After the industrial revolution, that it began, having a tan meant you had the leisure time to go to the beach and to lie out in the sun. When UV rays were found to cause cancer, in the USA, people opted to spend time and money lying on a tanning bed, to get the perfect tan without the detriment to the skin. lol.
The means of economic production, along side culture, supersedes everything.
Hyaku - fast/hurry -- iku - go -- yo - verbal exclamation to end a Japanese sentence. So, added up, he is essentially telling her, "Hurry & go!" It's romantic way for a guy to end his date, because it implies that if she doesn't leave him fast, he won't let her go.
Yep, Yep, Yep. Like I know a lot of other people are gonna say, you wrote what a LOT of us have started to feel since a few years ago. It first started when they broke up the episodes into two 30 minute sections, instead of one hour long episode. I wonder if that effected the way the writers pen their stuff. I also kept thinking that it was because some actors were off the market with military service that there just was a lack of talent that brings these dramas to life. But as they start returning and starring in dramas that lack the old flame, I'm definitely beginning to believe that Korean writers and producers have lost their umpfh. On top of that, NetFlix has delved into the fray with their South Korean original dramas that they are trying to put THEIR own spin on that's actually, tbh, pretty annoying. So, then I wonder if some of the writing changes are because the OGs feel they have to compete with this style....
...but whatever reason it is, I'm with you. Of late, I've spent a whole lot more time watching Chinese dramas than Korean dramas, and less and less am I anticipating to watch a K-Drama, and after already re-watching a lot of K-Dramas, I've started re-watching Chinese dramas to fill in the gaps as well. Sad but true. And this is not to say that Chinese dramas are all that great, they just offer more of the atmosphere I'm looking for in my escapism. The love affair maybe over soon if things don't change. =/
Maybe people think that GGMTV & OffGun had a bigger choice in how this story would play out. Just like SOTUS, there's only so much leeway you have with a LIVE ACTION drama based on a NOVEL without completely re-writing it, pissing off the fans of the original work, as well as the writer of the novel as well.
This drama was based on the novel Theory of Love...I'll give a link to the English translation of the novel in a spoiler below:
thats a lot of words, are you so mad that other people didn't like what you liked?
LOL. Yeah, so many words that you obviously didn't read it...and if you didn't read what they said, it would have been kinder to have just passed the comment up and not make some sarcastic remark to insult a person for something they didn't say, and making yourself look silly in the process.
This comment was directed at both sides, stating that if you like the drama you can say, if you don't like it you can say so...and how insulting it is to tell others they don't have a right to voice their opinions.
SO...no, @Betty20 is not "mad" that "other people didn't like it" but making a point, and valid one at that, and one I've often made at MDL, which is to say, I want to hear BOTH sides of the story, and their reasonings, so I can make better choices in how to spend my time watching dramas. Sometimes a reason a person gave to NOT like a drama maybe the very reason I want TO watch a drama...so YEAH, all viewpoints are welcome and do not deserve to get hate thrown at them simply because they disagree with your views. ....lol...
Next, at least give the consideration to take the time to READ it before commenting about it!
Don't quote me on this but I believe that in order to get parts in the Chinese drama and film industry, you have…
I do say..."Don't quote me.." so it's not necessarily 100% accurate, but I believe that Chinese censors are particular & with that, your agency will look to "legitimize" your career by showing you went to a Chinese university & a willingness to accept Marxist ideology. From my numerous entries of Chinese actors to MDL, looking at their profile's early work, this is something that has stood out to me.
Additionally, I'm referring to the subject of "CHILD" actors and how they have go through years of training to reach a certain level of recognition. Zhao Li Ying had already graduated, Langfang School of Electronic Information Engineering, a secondary vocational "education & development model school" whose motto is "Self-Cultivation", to become a flight attendant when she won the star search in 2006. For family reasons, she decided not to be a flight attendant & just be a company employee.
Her first 6 years she had to work hard & started out doing commercials and her first drama, Golden Marriage, which also aired in Japan, which gave her a wider audience recognition, was a family drama that was praised by the the Chinese censors at the Television Department of the State Administration of Radio, Film, & Television, for its plot on family ethics, and "profound significance on sociology", that's "giving value" to Chinese family culture. Being a part of this drama gave her the legitimization she would need, since it was highly valued and recognized by the official Communist governmental departments. But, again, she was an adult at the time who had already graduated from a Chinese university, and that's the point I was making.
I wish Chinese dramas cast close to accurate actors I mean I'm not asking for 16 year old to play 16 year olds…
Don't quote me on this but I believe that in order to get parts in the Chinese drama and film industry, you have to go through their universities, even if you are a Westerner.
Yes, you can model, and likely do bit parts for local stuff, or possibly internet platform content, but to do major productions on national televised stations, you have to be legitimized, like going to the Beijing Film Academy. Being that it's college, I think it's really hard for the industry to use child actors for more than bit parts with heavy, moronic, childish voice-over dubbing. With that in mind, they just have to have everyone suspend disbelief, and I'm sure the Chinese audience, over so many decades, have become used to this tactic, and have become willing participates in suspended disbelief for their dramas, and sometimes movies. ;)
I've watched until episode 5 and was thinking, "...I'll just watch each episode after as they get subbed..." BUT... I think I'm rethinking this. I'm not gonna torture myself. Even though it was sad, I was okay with where episode 5 had finished. Emotionally, if things don't go well for them after Akira turns 18, I'll be way too impatient to be comfortable sitting with watching sad episode after sad episode for the next couple weeks.
I've now decided that I won't watch any further episodes or trailers until the drama is complete. I think that from here on out, the only way I'm gonna be okay watching this drama is if I binge watch the remainder. See you guys a few weeks.
