I liked the villain and that's weird.
Although liking villains has become a trend nowadays but I was always against it. in THIS drama I couldn't.
I was practically begging Lin Xirou in my head PLEASE do something bad so I can hate you but when the writer tried to show her as a villain it REALLY felt like it was a fake and forced plot. I honestly didn't like the hunters they were more like pretentious

I'm on EP 13, it REALLY feels like Lin Xirou genuinely cares for Yan Tuo. I really hope it would actually be like that. I like that

I KNOW forgiving mass murderers and villains and all kinda evil people is a TREND in c-dramas but this one is TOOOOO MUCH
two people almost ALL their lives KILLED, TORTURED and MASSACRED innocents, and they were forgiven JUST LIKE THAT? why? just because they are parents of ML and FML? this is beyond RIDICULOUS.
GOLDEN RULE in c-dramas:
ANYONE can getaway with anything as long as they are friends or relatives of the main leads.
beside that and a couple of loopholes I liked the plot generally I think it doesn't deserve 6.5, I've seen literal TRASH with a score higher than 8.5. this already shows how some people are on MDL and you can never really trust the scores here.
I'll give it a 10 not because it deserves a 10 (I think it's a 7.5) but because 6.5 is tooo low for it.

First of all
Yes the drama talks about sexual assault and menopause and all that, it's good did I say anything against it? But this drama didn't throw men out of the window, like that they don't exist like other so called female centered plots. This drama didn't show men as evils and women as angels. THIS is the good parts of this drama that I'm talking about and I like.
Awareness of womens problems are important and I know that.

In my dictionary a misogynist is someone who hates women.
You make fun of me when I talk about men being heard and frustrations of a man in a relationship, you talk about men as xys. NOW am I supposed to believe you don't hate men? So are you NOT a misandrist??

I don't know if those so called domineering women are in china or not, but from what I've seen online from Chinese people so far it doesn't look like they are few at all.
one more issue is that are dramas going to show us an equal dynamic in their roles between women and men or superiority of women over men? where every needs of women are fulfilled their emotions are heard and ML keeps sacrifices himself for her whereas men keep to themselves they're not heard , keep being misunderstood by FML or being like puppies around FML. when there is a sacrifice or a risk ahead the women are told but you have a career or a whole life ahead of you you can't throw it all away for a MAN! yet in the same situation the man with absolutely NO doubt will take the risk and do everything in his power to protect the girl she loves.
these examples may look cool to you but it's not for us
if women CAN'T give men the same or even near the same energy that men gives them, then they don't deserve that man. it's like that if the roles are reversed TOO, men should give the same energy back too.

if you don't respect others, you can't expect them to respect you either. and if what I'm talking about is a joke to you then you're no better than the misogynist that you despise

this drama has something that NO C-DRAMA EVER DONE:
1_ women admitting they're at fault
it's interesting that in c-dramas WHENEVER there is a problem in relationships the fault ALMOST ALWAYS is on men. and even if it's not, the man somehow apologizes for everything.
2_ actually listening to what men has to say.
in c-dramas women ALMOST NEVER listen. NO it's the mans job to listen and always be there for his GF or wife, the existence of women alone for men is an honor which they forever must be grateful for.
c-dramas nowadays are fairytales specially design for women who are looking for a prince charming.
I'm thankful for this drama that showed a little world of men too, it showed men can get hurt too, men can get frustrated in relationships too.

one bad mistake in c-dramas that is getting trend these days is in this drama too
Ling Bo had a suiter, he liked her but she liked him as a friend and ignores him. he had selfrespect and respect her decision and backs down. so far everything is good and ok.
the way mother of LB explain is NOT, she says you saw him as friend he understood and ignored you, we respect HIS decision what a pity
Ladys if you have a good suiter and you like him too, DO NOT play hard to get , life is not a fairy tale like this drama where whenever a woman wants she can find a good match. some of you may not believe it but men have pride and selfrespect too. in c-dramas where FML keeps rejecting ML and he keeps coming back that is not love, that is obsession.
don't throw your mans pride under your or others feet and THINK this is norm, like FMLs these days.
(P.S. I later found out about his actual motive in approaching her, but even if that is the case, my comment remains correct in a general, public sense.)

A c-drama where the woman is at fault in divorce??? Wow, This new! After watching so many c-dramas the unbreakable rule was in divorce ALWAYS men are at fault and women are the victim

one question from ding yuxi, are you yourself ok with this kinda humiliation for your character? keep being rejected over and over and over?
is this really an equal dynamic in a relationship?
will this relationship work if one person keeps begging the other to pleeeeeease accept me?
one reminder these are not happening 3 to 5 eps in the drama to say oh they're getting to know each other and it's cute NO these are happening 20 to 30 EPISODES in the drama when they've been through all kinda hardships together

because c-dramas only talk about equality, they can't walk their talk and the reason for this one is most of their target audience are women. they want to elevate women by putting men down which is wrong

ep19 , ML says I'll give you the world and everything you want, FML says I don't want to pay the price of this relationship I'm out. no problem with that, it's her choice and it's ok.
what is not OK is ML saying I'm not giving up untill you agree. in this situation either his behavior is obsession which is harmful and must be avoided or she is playing hard to get in a serious situation which is still harmful and extremely childish for two grown ups, or both(my opinion this is the right answer)
for once in ALL the c-dramas that I've watched I hope to see the ML after being rejected to say alright wish you the best and goodbye. no this NEVER happens. if the situation was reversed the FML would definitely do this. it NEVER happens when a FML is rejected (not in the first or second eps) to still be pressistent and why is that? because woman have a life and womens life shouldn't solely be based on love and relationships. this is the logic of ENTIRE c-dramas.
for men, no. we don't have a life. in this dramas MLs are born to be in love with FMLs and be on their back and call.

I sense nothing between them and everyone in the drama says oh so you have feelings for each other...
no chemistry at all untill now
btw both of the leads are great actors (I KNOW that)
AND since WHEN Hong Yi wants every single demon dead? he wasn't like that before, not even after all his friend was killed he still wasn't like that
I need a very very strong reason for his behavior or I consider this a big loophole in the drama
