It would be a shame to go in thinking about it as simply a BL drama. There’a a lot more to love about it and many more themes that resonate strongly- such as perceptions of good and evil, sibling love, righteousness, etc. The whole BL element is so subtle that you wouldn’t know it was based on a BL novel if you weren’t already aware of that fact.

Yeah the ratings here have been strange of late. You’re right- there are plenty of shows rated lower that are actually good. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I didn't think it was that bad- I've also said it's not a horrible show by any means. It just disappointed me and I've listed the reasons for that. that's great of course that it resonated with you - it seems to have resonated with many. So don't mind me - just enjoy the show.

Yes, please do give it a try. It definitely has friendships, etc, and some really witty humour

Try Chinese costume dramas (the historical and fantasy ones). They’re very different than the modern romance dramas (and definitely have more complexity and depth to them)

Can’t compare NIF or TU with each other. They’re completely different genres and I would say they’re both the best in their own genres. Of course, considering everything, if NIF is 10/10, TU is 9.8/10, but I still wouldn’t compare them since they’re vastly different

It’s definitely slow in the beginning and it will seem confusing for about 11 episodes or so. But don’t worry, it’ll get phenomenally good from there on

I tried to watch this but the subs were pretty bad. Hope they make the subs better. Looks like a really fun show

I think there was a particular piece of music that was always used for the baddies- it felt so out of place. However, that’s a minor complaint😁

You should really give this a go. I have to be honest - it took me about 14 episodes to really get into it, so it’s possible you might wonder what’s happening for many episodes, but it all falls into place later. The show isn’t wasting your time- it’s building the world and characters

Yeah I think ZLS has a huge fan base. CZY didn’t before but he’s also become really popular from this. They’re both talented but this isn’t the show where they got a chance to show their acting chops.

Lost You Forever seems to be going well for now - 14 episodes in

So little happens on this show that I don’t understand the need for 25 episodes. It’s just the same thing over and over again and it loses any depth or significance it might have had. In a nutshell, nothing happens

I watched the show while it was airing and was shocked at the final ratings it got. I think it’s way overrated and overhyped. Maybe I am too old for these kinds of shows too 🤣 but I’m sure the younger version of me would’ve found it boring still

Since you’re on 21, you might as well just watch the whole thing (I watched it on 2x speed to make it end faster). It won’t get surprisingly better from this point on, but since you’re so close to the end, might as well rush through it.
Haha, I can understand. I watched the drama as it was airing and was surprised at where the ratings stopped after it aired, and hence I felt I needed to write this review. I don’t understand the extreme popularity of this drama - especially when it is a very average one. But then we are in the minority I suppose.
I so agree - they bring up the 5-year age gap so many times and she treats it like he’s some ancient person. Also, the show keeps messing up their ages. He was 24, then turned 26 and she stayed 19 throughout even though they both had their birthdays around the same time? I’m confused.
The brother was underused. He was actually a much more interesting character in my opinion. As for JY - as far as I remember, that issue is suddenly resolved and is never brought up again (which defeats the point of even having it there in the first place).
Yeah, this being rated higher than TU and JoL (which are really complex and lingering shows) really shocks me. I’m not saying simple shows don’t deserve high ratings, but they have to have something to say. This doesn’t really say anything.

No season 2 on the horizon. This is more of historical fiction with some wuxia elements and Shen Li will be a xianxia - so it won’t be related to Princess Agents at all.
