Yeah it was a bit weird seeing how they changed the thumbnails đ€·ââïž, but then they also re-uploaded many episodes last year and removed many of the flashbacks on the show đ
All that "flying" while fighting is just too silly to ignore... Why do they do that đ
Itâs very common in Chinese dramas where martial arts is a focus. You have to see it as something that comes with being very proficient in martial arts techniques. Plus they donât really fly as much as use a form of body lightness to glide. If you view it as them being extraordinary in a way, (like superheroes in western superhero stories), I think youâll be able to overcome that.

Thatâs probably just an advertising thing. They uploaded different thumbnails for the show on YouTube- those pics are of wu lei from love like the galaxy. He doesnât grow up on Nirvana in Fire
That's because no official source is talking about the cast yet. Of course, XZ is the first choice, but currently…
Hopefully theyâll bring back the original cast. I was confused because Xiao Zhan was listed on this page along with Elaine Zhong (is she confirmed yet?) but now heâs not
Tie Xin Lan's character... SMH. She goes from portraying a strong male hero to becoming a fragile crybaby every…
That was one of my main problems with the show. She was super cool earlier and just became a complete damsel in distress. There wasn't a single female character I liked on this show
No you don't. There are a few obscure references to NIF1 but nothing that will confuse you or anything if you've not watched NIF1. I advise you to watch this first and then NIF1 since NIF1 is way more complex and confusing as well.
Any other sageuks like this? I watch lots of C-dramas (and the costume dramas are brilliant), but any sageuk with political intrigue and philosophical depth would be nice since I want to sample some more Korean historical dramas.

Can someone explain to me why this actor is so popular? His acting is okay. He acts well, but not as heart moving…
I really appreciate Xiao Zhan a lot, and prior to the Untamed I didn't know about him at all (apart from him appearing on the list of most handsome Asian men). I went in to watch the Untamed with no expectations and was very moved by his portrayal of Wei Wuxian. I look forward to all his shows and songs etc, nowadays. I think like many people have pointed out, he comes across as a highly genuine and empathetic person and is constantly pushing himself to be better. He just exudes some kind of warmth and light. But I understand not everyone would feel he's worthy of the fame or whatever.
My unbiased opinion is - it's up to you to form your opinions on him. I'm not particularly drawn to some overhyped actors. I don't feel that Xiao Zhan is overhyped though - he's not an international celebrity on the same level as Hollywood actors or even Korean actors. He's famous in China and amongst those who watch Chinese dramas. He's not even the highest paid actor in China or anything.
As for the Untamed - it starts off very slow and takes a turn on episode 15. Depends on what you're expecting in terms of "interesting". I found the Untamed slow until ep 15 and even then I didn't know where the story was going. It's around episode 26 that all the climactic stuff starts happening. It may seem slow, but if you stick with the show, it's very rewarding and all the slow parts in the beginning make more sense. After Word of Honor I didn't think I would like a show more and I went in very ambivalent about the Untamed. But I liked it even more than Word of Honor.
Inconsistend in its plot direction for the ML. In the first half it is all for toxic love and in the second half…
Agreed. I don't know how he's compared to Mei Changsu. I don't see it at all. I also don't see how this is similar to Nirvana in Fire apart from the ML being ill.
I had a problem with the love story of the leads. I couldn't connect to their love story at all and felt like Zuo Cingci fell in love with Su Yun Luo all of a sudden based on such an insignificant meeting in their childhood. The first half was all about how totally nuts he was about her and she was hellbent on saving her master. Not to mention the lack of trust between them. I much preferred the third couple - Changge and Jiang'er. Si Yuan and Man Qing's love story was alright. Anyway my problem was too much focus on the love stories that weren't very well developed anyway. The court politics was even less convincing. I of course liked parts of the show, but it didn't stay with me overall. I have to say I love the soundtrack of this show though.
Finished the show. Overall, thoroughly enjoyable and not an extremely heavy watch. I stumbled upon this show quite accidentally before it gained more recognition and I'm glad to have started watching it that early. Missed Fed during the last episodes, but I hope he will be back for the next season.
26 episodes in. Enjoying this drama but have not been a fan of Yingtao being incorporated into the gang, particularly as SWMâs love interest. SWM appeared to be aromantic. They couldâve just kept it that way
