Yea he really is. Lol. I keep rewatching this series just because I can’t find anything new from him. Some of his other works are too old that the production quality irks me. Like the colours are just too weird.

I was LDIC coz of him, I didn’t exactly enjoy the series…

Tribes and Empire has like 75 episodes………. I tried playing the first episode… fail… lol. Was it worth the watch? The rating on MDL isn’t exactly high…

Sighs. Is there anything good that you came across? Maybe I just missed something…

You should watch Wrath of Time too, the prequel which Vengo Gao was the ML. Was really good and you’d understand the background and history of the whole series.

Suggest watching Wrath of Time first before the rest… Vengo Gao has a segment here as a guest star (his part was really good, in Episode 7) as a direct continuation from the ending of Wrath of Time, the prequel depicting the history + origins of the tomb raiding factions even prior to the 2016 TV adaptation.

Definitely recommend to start with Wrath of Time because it is the prequel… before starting with the rest in the order mentioned… there is even a segment in The Lost Caverns which guest stars Vengo Gao as the direct continuation from the ending of Wrath of Time.

You’d also enjoy the whole series better because of the sensible chronological order.

It’s super good. I’m also rewatching it now. The production quality is really high. All the TV adaptations of Gui Cui Deng is done pretty well.

Vengo Gao is so cool as Zhe Gu Shao….. super fitting…

Same!! I found this better than Worm Valley too, think Worm Valley lacked a substantial plot was just a lot of action. This was a much better balance, so intriguing.

Haha I preferred the ML in the first TV adaptation though. Pan Yue Ming is also a good actor but Jin Dong had a more suitable Indiana Jones vibe… also I’m a bit annoyed at the casting of Pan Yue Ming because he played another role in the same series… he was Chen Yu Lou in Wrath of Time, basically the old guy who was blind here. =.=

Yes, it’s a bit sad that it isn’t as popular as Daomu Biji (The Lost Tomb)… mostly because of the author of the novels… so the author of Gui Chui Deng isn’t as good in marketing as the author of Daomu Biji.

Plot wise yes, both are just as good. I actually think it’s the execution. I have to say I found JoL’s execution to be flawless, not even kidding but I found SSS to still have some minor issues….

Haha it appears we do have the same taste, but I checked the Recommendations above and they have been recommended. So I found Story of Ming Lan to be amazing as well though it is a different genre but I thought she was so smart, the plot was super smart. Also, My Heroic Husband BUT this was only reallyyyyy good for the first half of the series. I don’t know if it still interests you.

Someone below recommended Nirvana in Fire, I know it was crazy successful in China. I haven’t watched it yet. Everything else on my “Must Watch” list is a different genre though….

Now I understand why I’m always confused…… as much as it’s got different plots. So for Candle in the Tomb and Daomu Biji BOTH the sidekicks have the same name; Wang Pang Zi! Wot the….. why though…. They even have the same last name….

Haha yea. I would say you need some form of gauge for MDLs ratings I.e Korean dramas alwayssss have higher ratings than C-dramas although they might be similar “level”…

Was reading one of ‘Recent Discussions’ in the NiF page, apparently it takes a while before it becomes really interesting.. like 19-20 episodes.. will see if I can get pass the slow start.

I don’t know, I’m kinda wary about these kinda series without romance, maybe because of the Longest day in Chang An. I think for that it made sense because it was just 24 hrs… but after I watched Longest day in Chang An I just had a “?!?!?” expression.

But the JoL rating I’m looking at is 9.0…. At least on my webpage it is. And NiF rating on my webpage is 9.1

And I’m sorry to say this but when I see 2 Caucasians in the same scene speaking bad English to one another it’s just…… don’t get me wrong… their English could be accented, like the French or Italian but it was so obvious from the drama that it was just pure wrong….. I had no idea where to look and couldn’t listen any further….. I just FF everything…. 🤣🤣🤣

The analogy would be like 2 Chinese Americans speaking Mandarin to one another in really bad Mandarin…. I would FF everything too…

I have to say the dubbing for the Caucasians speaking Mandarin was en-pointe, was believable.

I’ve been watching this on repeat recently, it’s really amazing. Not even kidding.

The show was amazingly written and the entire cast was incredible. At least all of them were above average.
