Agreed! I preferred him in this type of costume vs his modern look;)
I’ve never watched him in anything else aside from Side Story of Fox Valant….. and it was then that I realised he has the vibes and charm of a young Jet Li’s Wong Fei Hung…… this charm somehow disappears when his queue/braid disappears…… 🤣

Couldn’t agree more…… as much as this is fiction but I ended up Googling so many historical events (which I never knew)…… because of how accurately they’ve weaved facts into the plot….
Just felt it was a very uncomfortable watch from the get go because of how there were too many parties/camps, and too many genres thrown together which felt kinda off…. BUT the strong cast inc. the supporting cast and the sufficient budget got me hooked… living during that era must have been so strange and uncomfortable.
Remember Hong Zhu. He's going to play a very important role later.
I’m trying to. Sorry to say but the slew of new faces are rather uh…… challenging. I mean for example Fan SiZhe, Wang QiNian, 2nd Prince…. Honestly they look pretty unique (like the kind which you only need to watch one of their dramas and you’d remember)…
All the new actors are kinda difficult, and I’ve never came across them in other Cdramas. 😱😱😱 and there were many of them in the cast list!
The new YBY is way better IMHO. The first one had zero chemistry with FX and acted like he was sleepwalking through…
The previous one was just angrybird expression all the time…. And I somehow always had the impression they used eyeliner on him….. 🤣🤣 this one is a lot more normal

Me too!!! I have been waiting for the 2nd season anxiously (for ~3 yrs) thus my expectations were super high (due to a zillion rewatches), and it totally exceeded all expectations!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love it so far….. only thing whereby I’m in the minority is the OST. I prefer S1’s OSTs.
