She is wavering between two guys but she knows that she only wants someone who will stay with her forever. She kept stating this sentiment throughout the whole drama. So when she woke up, she was touched that Jing would give up his life for her. I don't think she ever felt for Jing that deep but she was touched by his actions. She picked him out of the criteria that he vowed to be with her forever. As for the other two guys, they never confess to her so how can she pick them? If XL made his sentiments known, I think the story would have been very different. It probably would have been triangle with XY, CX, and XL. She would probably just sideline Jing as a friend.

You could go read the novel if you want. There's a translated version online. I went to read it because I can't wait that long. At least I can visualize it in my head. lol

How to walk away from family when his grandma is basically his only family? Sure, everything is easier said than done. He wanted to marry XY openly using his family name so for the longest time he tried finding ways to not hurt YY because canceling the wedding would hurt her reputation too. If he just walk away, that would also mean that he would never be able to marry XY. Her father would never allow that nor will CX. If they get together illegally, they'll be immoral couple forever. So he's screwed no matter what path he choose.

When they woke up from the coma, it was said that the grandma took the life preserving pill to carry the clan while he was unconscious. That would mean that later on she will have to live in pain until her death. Can you walk away from your grandma while she was sick? Sure, that woman was a witch behind the scenes but she's his only family left. XY wouldn't To me it's not because he's indecisive, it's because he was being put into a corner. The clan family name is more like chain to him than anything. I believe it was at the end of 35 that he said those same sentiments. That was why he rather live with XY back in the village just making medicine than return home.

All of the characters in this drama has their obligations and Jing isn't any less important. He just as trap to his grandma just as XL is loyal to his step-dad.

I see your point though I beg to differ. If he value his family above XY, then he wouldn't have tried to end his life to be with her. He would just live on for his family. So to me they're on equal plane. Everything is easier said than done. If he walked away when his grandma is sick then he wouldn't be Jing. Then his character wouldn't be consistent at all. Regardless of the fact that grandma was a witch to begin with but she's still the only family he has left. He basically grew up with just her and his brother. Can you have the heart to just walk out when you knew your grandma took a preserving pill to carry the clan for the years he was unconscious? Because of the pill that she will be in pain and died a very painful death. If he walked out then, I would have lost all respect for him.

I think it's because they're mad their boy didn't get the girl. I think people get frustrated why the XY would go with someone who's not as interesting. They can't direct the anger at the writer so it goes some where else. I feel bad for Deng Wei as he's getting alot of hate on Weibo and for something that is not his fault. IDK why people can just enjoy the drama as it's all fiction.

I do believe he was willing to let it all go. He even said in the episodes that the only way to marry her is to be TSJ. If he didn't have that title, there will be no way that her father would let her marry him. Having no title would mean that they can never get marry. So both paths are screwed to begin with. So that was why he didn't want to go back home at the beginning. I don't think his family is more important than XY but they're equally as important.

Is there an international fan club that we can support Deng Wei through? I heard he has been getting alot of hate on Weibo so I hope we can show our support somehow.

I find it funny that people keep saying Jing is boring but that's what XY likes. All his attributes that we said to be weak is what she liked about him. She even said in the the recent episodes. lol Then she went for Feng Long, who is more boring than Jing. Our girl knows what she wants in life and that is someone who will be there for her forever. So we should stop deciding what is best for her.

I feel for CX and XL but at this point I don't feel bad that they lost out on XY. I get CX wants to protect her but there may other ways then just letting her marry Feng Long. Same for XL, she's obviously single right now so he got so many opportunities. In fact, all this time, he could have snatch her away any time. So they didn't give her any choice to ponder over. All of the men have obligations outside of XY and same with Jing. He can't just give up his family, just as XL can't give up his loyalty. So in reality, XY never had the chance to pick at all. She can only go with what fate was willing to offer.

So if people wants to be mad at the ending then they should have a talk with Tong Hua. lol I think Tong Hua loves tragic endings. The ending in Scarlet Heart was just as sad so maybe that's why she wants to at least give XY a happy ending. I feel like this drama kind of resembles it with CX being the emperor. Though he never got XY's love to begin with. CX's life is just like how prince #4 lived in loneliness and longing for Ruo Xi for the rest of his life.

I know right. lol but the main story is on CX so it's not just about XY's love.

That's the thing though, if XL and XY didn't have that past then there wouldn't be that connection with them though. If XL wasn't tied to the army, even if they knew each other, they wouldn't have that understanding for each other. So I guess you can't have one without the other.

Feng Long is such a minor character that I forgot that he exists. lol I think he will show up more in S2 but I'm surprised they even considered him as one of the leads as he was hardly there in the novel as well.

I'm sure he's aware of of it and I think it's hard to avoid it. I feel bad for Asian celebrities as the environment there is even more cut throat and so toxic. Especially now that there's the cancel culture. That was why a few Korean celebs committed suicide. It must do a lot of damage to their mental health. One must develop a resiliency over time to survive in this industry.

I heard it was even worse on Weibo. I find that the Chinese fans to be quite toxic. They will go after who seems to be threat to their idols. I don't get this idea at all. Why can't we just enjoy the dramas? Everybody put in so much hard work to produce an art and no need people to bring hate into it.

Sometimes I wish some of my favorite celebs don't get too famous because they'll be a target. Like how people target Li Yi Tong poking fun of how she can't get famous despite being in many dramas. You get hate even when you don't get famous enough. lol

DW's rise is quite amazing for someone who only been acting for three years. I hope he doesn't take the hate comments to heart and continue working on his craft. His improvement is quite good and I think he'll do great in the future. I heard that he constantly asked directors for critiques on how to make his scenes better.

Yes, that's why there are many love lines. lol Many flavors catered to everyone.

No doubt. Who says she can't love both men! But how many of us can end up with our soul mates in real life? Even Jing knew about this bond between them so even in the later chapters he let XL console XY at times without stepping in. Even in season 1 you can see that as well. So there's no denying of what types of love she has for them.

hey guys, does anyone know the official number of episodes? Does that mean they'll have to split it into two parts? I hate this new regulation. It's such a kill joy.

I feel your pain. The government trying to kill the industry that makes them so much money. It should be up to the viewers if they want to watch, why should they even regulate the episodes! It ruined so many dramas I liked. Some dramas had to cut scenes and the story felts so disjointed. It's so frustrating.

Is it for this year? I find that they keep floating around names all the time until you see them on set then you know it's real. lol

It wasn't as well done in the drama for the scene. In the novel, he can tell that she was thinking about somebody else when she wanted to kiss him so he stopped her. When XL forced her to kiss him, her heart wanted to but she stopped herself because she knew she would have no future with him. Hence the line where she said something about not letting him into her dream. Cue to scene, you can see XL was heartbroken when he heard that.

Jing knew there was something going between them even before. Where he misunderstood her neck being red as the hickey. Jing knew that her feelings were not deep for him yet so he didn't kiss her back. You can see in the later episodes that it wasn't until she said that she liked him that he finally made the kiss.
