Just watched the first episode.It was good and established the backstory but quite less entertaining compared to Hwayugi first eps. IU looks too plain for the lead role that actually requires a very polished and expressive actress and Yeo Jin Goo only impressed in the scenes he was terrified and running for his life-and this is quite a shame as they are both good actors with different material.This story gives a reverse Beauty and the Beast vibe!
The production values of the Hotel itself are SUPERB ! Great sets and world building involved.
Will hold for now and watch when it is done.

The OSTs are quite catchy though

Just started this and this looks like they are trying to make this like an American show.The production values are fantastic but some of the naturalness you associate with Kdramas is missing.Let us see how it goes

Pretty fun watch ! Some of the corporate jokes were bang on ! Sung Joon is also putting out a very stiff upper lip version of himself here.The actress is pretty and natural.Even the second leads are quite good.
This is one show where I am more interested in the Business part - as to how they will revive the company

Just completed this and my love for this drama DID NOT DIMINISH AT ALL !
The last fantasy drama that left me feeling so good at the end was My Girlfriend is a gumiho-which had a similar star crossed love story..
There are many comments which found that the second half is weak when compared to first half and due respect to them but then how can heartbreak compare to the first rush of romance ?Its like different seasons and all have their value as per me.
For all those on the fence for watching this drama all i can say is that you would like this if you like love stories,pure leads ,beautiful OSTs ,beautiful cinematography, natural performances and have a general belief that things do end well
I am happy to have seen this show and dont think anything will top this in 2019 in the romcom genre.

That was really the point of the show.Kim Tak Goo is inspirational in that he never loses sight of his goodness even after huge personal losses -even one of those could have broken anyone else.
I call Kim Tak Goo one of the most inspiring kdrama male leads ever !

Well,the angst is what makes this drama.I seriously hated makjang elements prior to watching this but the show has executed these elements superbly .Also,the ending to the angst elements is positive.This may be the only show I liked both the protagonist and the antagonist's character portrayals (another eg.is Six Flying Dragons)

So am I.. His life was so dark-he deserved to be with someone like her after all his troubles.

Well,that's a creative choice of the writer.Am pretty sure Mr.Grey from 50 shades of Grey would be the creepiest person on the planet for many..Try reading the Manga.The drama stays pretty true to the manga

Many of the popular Kdramas actually have Japanese Manga as a source material- "Boys over Flowers" ;"City Hunter" etc.
This manga is actually strangely addictive while reading..

Had read the Manga-it escalates much more quickly there

Am at ep 28/32 and this show consistently remains well written,directed and acted.
Many of the comments below seem to suggest as if the drama collapses in the second half and I am surprised to find the opposite -the love story gets much more depth and there are many excellent emotional scenes. As for the melodrama,it is still great till ep 28.
I never pictured Shin Shye Sun and L to have such superb chemistry but their OTP rivals the best ever kdrama OTPs ever.Kudos to the PD/Writer who got them together and they have seen something magical and the lead cast has repaid the trust in spades.The OSTs played again and again make the scenes pure poetry in motion.
This show is a total gem -not that I expect any less from the PD of Healer and King of baking Kim Tak Goo -but the surprise positives are many
This show is a treat for viewers like me who want their OTPs to have loads of scenes together ,love great OST tracks,like beautiful cinematography ,love strong Male leads and this is a star crossed love story in the best possible way.
All in all,it is a joy to have discovered this show and it is unlikely such fantasy romcom drama magic will get repeated in the near future.
Best of 2019 so far!

Am at Ep 23/32 and still no sight of any cinched plot points The romance continues to be more adorable and ,if anything,the dramatic stakes keep rising.
Looks like I am definitely going to miss this show once completed..It is PURE GOLD so far!

I really liked that scene as well and the usage of "Pray" in the background was just sublime.Made me fall in love with the OST really!
