There were a lot of complications behind-the-scenes just to make season 1 happen. That why Ryan and his company wound up being involved. Funding in return for Ryan being a part of the cast.

But now Ryan and his company are out of the picture. So they gotta come up with funding elsewhere. And contract renegotiations - because several of the actors' contracts ended after s1. And working around the schedules of the cast they do have secured - because other projects take precedence while things are in limbo. And probably rights negotiations - because s2 is focused on a different novel. Plus covid - Perth had tested positive at the end of last month.

Bittersweet obviously hit some sort of standstill as well (coming from the same studio). Possibly the same ones. And that had done some filming in order to create the teasers and promo materials. Perhaps that's why Tricreation is seemingly only focused on appearances and events, in order to accumulate funds and sponsors?

I wouldn't give up total hope yet. It's not uncommon for dramas to be in limbo for a few years. It's also possible that this might get picked up from a different studio.
