Absolutely loved the novel and was anticipating the drama's release. While the drama is slightly different from the source material, it's working out really well so far. Blasted all 5 episodes in one go.
Though we can't expect the spicy stuffs from the novel, the tension between the leads is absolute fire. So, I'll content with that. hehe
How is the romance? I don't have a problem with an unhinged FL, even less if it's because of revenge (I love revenge…
Romance is minimal, and there's only some towards the later part of the story. The dynamic between the main leads is awesome throughout the story however, even in pre-romance era. Revenge is awesome and MC here took the least amount of assistance from the ML among the author's novel despite her low social status (she's just a commoner here).
No, there are no explicit scenes iirc.
Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll check it out.
I'm a bit lukewarm by the end of the drama. If I have to pick out a specific example, while the twists were definitely interesting, couldn't help but feel the script glossed over a lot of the events so I was not that emotionally invested to anything by the end. Middle of the series was the peak for me, and ending was just okay-ish. It definitely got to do with the limited episodes count for sure.
Anyhow, it was a good watch. The current score 8.5 felt appropriate to me.
Imho at the very bottom. I am yet to start reading DHX but read ME, Ill-fated Consort and Star General. The Noble…
Lol yeah, that chapter was really funny. The entire story, ML knew FL is sus, but can't do anything about it due to lack of evidence. She's basically lapping around everybody and their mothers. lol
About the adaptation, there's an MDL page for it so likely the license was already bought from the author. But yea, no way all those good stuffs will make it past the censorship sadly.

Exactly! Despite the lack of romance in majority of the story, I finished the novel because FL character is amazing. Doesn't even bat an eye at the notion of killing or being killed. She's so unhinged lol.
I initially thought Shen Miao was the most ruthless FL among the author's novels. But, Lu Tong changed my mind. She's borderline psychopath, both ruthless and crazy. It was so refreshing to read due to that. π
In the novel the FL was only 12 or 13 when the story started and the ML was 21 so not a lot of romance for a while.…
Being different is good in a way. I can read the novel for what it is. xD
I already got used to slow romance in Qian Shan Cha Ke novels because most of the author's novels take like at least 150 chapters for a smidgen of romance. lol

Thanks. That's very helpful in setting my expectations. I've read ME, Ill-fated Consort, Star General, and DHX. DHX is way wayyyy at the bottom in the romance department compared to the others, simply because FL is very revenge driven and has no space for romance.
Ep23: Zhuang family is one big mess of a family. lol
For the novel readers, I wanna know how much romance is there in the novel. Let's say, compared to other Qian Shan Cha Ke novels, Malicious Empress/Star General as the highest score and Deng Hua Xiao as the lowest score. Where does this novel stand?
I always feel that dramas add narration in when the acting is not strong enough to convey emotions or moments…
In essence, they are different.
You might find some similarities because both are from the same author. In fact, the author specializes on revenge themed stories. There are a couple more of the author's novels slated for drama adaptation. Legend of Female General being the closest upcoming one.
Happened to binge ep 16, 17, 18, 19 today. My gosh I'm glad I couldn't watched them the past few days, and instead binged them. I wouldn't have survived the daily waiting for these developments.
I like the darker vibe of the story. I needed a break from the usual rainbows and unicorns we usually get, and this is definitely it.
Can't wait anymore so went and read the novel. Such a good read and I was hooked from the get go. Not a single boring moment either.
Don't think much of the mature stuffs from the novel will make it to the drama though. Just hope Wei Shao wasn't excessively toned down. I'll watch it for the slow burn regardless however π
fr... our dude's first response whenever he sees someone outdoor is to drape his expensive fur cloak on that person. I'm pretty sure Zhuang Hanyan alone at least got like 3 cloaks sitting in her closet by now.
She can take them back as her dowry, so it works out I guess.
I watched till ep4 on the day it aired. I was still on the fence until then because of the pacing (it felt way too fast).
Now that I came back, binged, and caught up to ep14, it felt much much better after the initial episodes, and kept me on the hook with something to look forward to for the next episodes. Gonna follow this daily now.
So I am supposed to believe that Skinny Hanyan, dug the grave with her bare hands, carried the body all the way…
Not sure about the FL here, but my skinny sister sure lifted a 20 ft ladder by herself and ran during her adrenaline rush while the house was on fire. xD

Yes, whenever the 1ep/day schedule starts. ugh... π
