The actors aren’t good. They’re not good at acting. The usual stuff. I think some people are confusing PHM’s stoicism with poor acting. Certain emotions will never be as intense on her because that’s the type of character she’s playing. It’s like the yelling scene today. The frontal view looks stiff because PHM is trying to control herself but in the side shots, you can tell she’s upset af from her body language.
The “how can I take care of you when you get sick ?” line too😌

I’ve always said she has a classic Hollywood look about her and I feel this show really brings it out. There’s a few shots in her makeup video that really remind me of Katherine Hepburn’s loose casual style. I think the stylist’s from her future costume dramas need to stay away from the recent cheap idol makeup popular nowadays and give her looks from the classic era of Cdrama. She can hold that heavy makeup and if you look at Laojiumen and GBMP, her two best costume looks come from that era of emphasising the eyes and mouth which are her most mesmerising features. I really feel like she’s hit some sort of turning point. She’s that type of beautiful right now that can only come when a woman feels at peace and confident in her heart.

Director Ge possibly has ulterior motives but she also seems to have a mentoring relationship with Bai Hui. From that pov, I can see chasing away Secretary Lu who Bai Hui doesn’t seem to have feelings for while at the same time encouraging her to pursue JDY who she does seem to have feelings for.
