The fact that no matter who they cast, the fans call it a rotten cake, means it’s probably not good. This is one of the few dramas where everything depends on the script because the content of the original story doesn’t seem like it would be popular. Viewers don’t want to see women being abused for the sake of abuse anymore. And the government is stricter about some things too. This show will have to be changed to pass the censorship review but if the script isn’t well written enough, then the show won’t do well either. Makeup and shooting will also be important. The casting seems to be choosing white rabbit type actresses but according to some book fans, the heroine should have a tenacious, stubborn air but also be stunningly beautiful in order to convey the right atmosphere. Bai Tao and Li Muge shot Xiao Ran well because they understood the heroine is important to the story too. This director seems to have mostly shot hero dramas so I don’t know if he will know how to shoot and highlight the heroine well. Lastly, it doesn’t seem like Xiao Ran would like this type of role because of the relationship. She talks often about social responsibility and I feel that she wants to take roles that can be good role models for younger viewers. Since Goodbye My Princess, she seems to have only chosen roles with either healthy relationships or where the heroine leaves if the hero is not treating her right. I can’t see her taking on a role where the heroine not only takes the abuse but then decides to live happily ever after with her abuser.
According to rumours the hero has changed but PXR is being floated again. This feels like dropping a rumour because they want to cast her or trying to raise the show’s status rather than her fighting for it . Unless this script is massively changed like RoaTF or there’s some massive trade off in resources , I can’t see her agreeing to this character setting based on her interviews. If it hasn’t, I hope the heroine is one of the other actresses being floated. I’ll support her because no role is a waste but not even the director being the same director as the Untamed can make the original story appetising and a lot of passerby seem to have a negative view of it.
I prefer this to Jun Jiu Ling. I like all Peng Xiao Ran dramas but Jun Jiu Ling has very little growth arc. She’s…
I think I’ve seen Oh! My Emperor. That’s the one with Zhang Tianai, right? She’s so beautiful that I watched her last drama with Xu Kai cheng without caring one bit about the plot😂 I even watched a bit of Snow Sword Stride for her. I wish she did more dramas.
So happy more people are starting to recognise Jun Jiu Ling! When it first aired she got so much hate and ridicule…
Yes, she started very late for an actress because she used to be a host for IQIYI while doing small support roles until Fan Binbing recruited her to her company. Unfortunately some things happened and Xiao Ran lost FBB who was her biggest backer making it hard for her to get A-lister level dramas or to find work in general. JJL was a low budget drama given to her when she was down but a lot expectation was placed on it because of her heroine debut as Xiao Feng in Goodbye My Princess. The makeup and shooting in GBMP had a more glamorous look so there was disappointment that JJL didn’t deliver at the same level. Some of that turned to ridicule and hate (A lot of comparison videos use GBMP to trash other dramas without caring about the life of the cast so I guess that’s where the hate comes from 😩) Fortunately she stuck with it. She’s got two dramas and a movie left in stock but hopefully she’ll start filming a new role soon.
New fan of this amazing actress since I saw her in Jun Jiu Ling, going to watch her previous dramas and be looking…
So happy more people are starting to recognise Jun Jiu Ling! When it first aired she got so much hate and ridicule but as Peng Xiao Ran says “Time will tell us everything, don't worry, take your time." and now things are getting better and better! Her next drama with a heroine focus similar to Jun Jiu Ling should be Hua Mei.
For those who were asking before, looks like the grades of this show must have been good. PXR just got announced as a brand ambassador for a jewellery company today.
I prefer this to Jun Jiu Ling. I like all Peng Xiao Ran dramas but Jun Jiu Ling has very little growth arc. She’s…
Haha, yes, different tastes😊 I like all types of genres but I like deeper characters who undergo growth or transformation most. Jun Jiu Ling had a couple episodes deleted though so maybe the depth got deleted as well. But, I’m glad JJL is getting more and more positive feedback though. When it first aired there were a lot complaints about it just like with this show.
May I get your Attention Please!! So, I recently watched a hidden gem in the drama world...so dear historical…
I prefer this to Jun Jiu Ling. I like all Peng Xiao Ran dramas but Jun Jiu Ling has very little growth arc. She’s one of the lower ranked characters in PXR48 because of this. Ji Man feels a lot more flesh and blood than her. And, I like the message of this show a lot more. Plus, the shooting is a lot better in this show (sans the intentionally weird shots), the chemistry is heavier, and the styling of the leads is more compatible.
I read some comment ..and I am very sad to see that ..most of them need this show shorter not completly negative…
I’m also a student but I only watch a few dramas a year so I don’t have to prioritise I guess. From episode 20 is when the story seems to shift focus to the emotional aspect of Jinyumantang but I guess the viewer has to be into the emotional development of a romance to not think it’s dragging. I thought some of the best acting came in those episodes and emotional development takes time otherwise it won’t feel real. That’s also when the setup and foreshadowing starts to pay off. I’m really not sure how this show would look with half the episodes. There’s too much setup and detail… But everyone is different and has their own tastes and not every show works for everyone.
Haha, Yeah it’s really a surprise. It’s like there’s no good points to this show and it’s absolutely terrible, which isn’t true😭 Seems like the harshness is the norm on a lot of the romantic comedy Cdramas but it kinda ruins the mood of chasing dramas to see nothing but complaints on such a cute show😩

It’s really weird because a lot of the comments on Weibo says the plot isn’t procrastinating yet the main comment here is it’s repetitive. I wonder if that’s due to the rise of the short form drama. I noticed they’ve become really popular in recent years. And maybe that popularity affects how much people want to watch? I’m a fan so the more episodes ,the merrier😂I wish there was a life after marriage episode.
He is n't powerful!!he lose some fights! ..he have some skills in fight ..he isn't seem boy !!! He just thin .but…
The comment is reasonable. Everyone has their own love and it’s okay if this show isn’t for them. I just wanted to explain Ning Yuxuan’s look because not everyone considers the character setting.
I love the actress. I have nothing against the actor. But why do they cast actors supposed to be powerful when…
The statistics actually say the main audience of this show was women in their 30s but I understand not every show will work for everyone. Powerful has different meanings and interpretations, and in this drama, powerful is referring to capable rather than literal physical power and prowess (Though the ML does fight and is capable of protecting the female lead) . The character in the drama is also set to be a young man in his very early 20s so in terms of looks, this casting is appropriate because the ML should have a boyish air about him. Plus, the juvenile looks don’t stop the male lead from having a sense of machismo during romantic scenes.
