I actually think the styling might be because Ji Man is a modern girl. Jiman’s style and behaviour makes sense for a modern girl who doesn’t want to be bothered by doing up their hair and clothes. There’s a photo from the wrap ceremony with PXR wearing modern clothes. I have a feeling everything was all a dream but either the showrunners or censors cut that part and they were clever enough to have the explanation be that she grew up open minded from sailing the seas since young.
Fans have complained about the styling especially after seeing the makeup video but I also noticed a lot of passerby saying they like her face, which is a positive of having such a bare faced look.
Also Chen Minzheng still belongs in costume jail but I get the sense he was going for a western princess look but make it Chinese. Someone cut Jiman with some Disney movies and other than the plainness of the materials, she didn’t look out of place.

Right? I don’t watch either. There’s some shows flying around this year that look terrible to me but I just mind my own business and keep to what I like.
I used to be a lurker too but PXR doesn’t have much of a fan presence overseas so I joined this site to support her shows. It’s just sad this show’s page ended up being mostly about fending off negativity. I’d like to be like the Chinese fans who are discussing the plot, characters, creating drawing and videos, or really funny memes(they’re also fighting negativity too but it’s calmed down now).

It’s because I like the show. I don’t comment on shows I don’t like. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I don’t see the point in wasting time trying to spread negativity, hurt others, or ruin their day when I can focus on the things I like and be happy.

I’m trying not to respond to those kind of reviews or comments anymore. Too much negative energy. From now, unless it’s something really rude, I’ll just chat with those who like the show or post tidbits of the show that might not make it on YouTube instead of argue.

Tbh, I never pay attention to the ratings on this site because they seem random. Good Cdramas on average seem to have low scores on here. When I saw someone give a drama a low score because it had a sad ending, I knew it was a wrap…

You’re welcome! I felt I had to write one because I feel a show should be graded according to its genre and once it’s finished.
This website is very harsh towards Cdrama romcoms (I looked at other ones over the years) and most of the bad reviews were from people who didn’t finish so they’re not complete.

There’s a backlog. I’m still waiting on Chen Ruoxuan to release the ones he’s got on his phone.

It seems like it’s his eye skills, a bit of his body language, and how he handles his female costar that creates the chemistry. He’s obviously worked hard/studied at it which is good because so often chemistry falls on the actress when it should be a two way street. I don’t know why so many young actors can’t do it but I’m glad to find one who can.
