I feel like he probably said something romantic or referenced their revenge pact. It seems like the editor was keen for there to be no sympathy for Yi Wuyou. It almost feels like they were worried about Yi Wuyou being like a second Runyu.

That seems to be the reason why some of the big name BL dramas haven’t attempted to do the same thing. Supposedly Immortality thought about it but the results wouldn’t leave much left.

They cut out all the married scenes. I’m so angry because they’re really cute. Below is a link to the BTS of a post wedding scene that appears in the opening but has been cut from the show.

While this show has powers and is considered fantasy, I don’t think it’s actually xianxia which maybe why people are being thrown off. It’s closer to western fantasy and the focus seems to be more on wits and political intrigue than powers or brute strength.
Bai Lu was kinda the deciding factor in that by holding the wedding, they could lure out the assassins. That’s why she says to Yu Xiuming let’s get married fast.

The author said some things that got him cancelled and it affected the show. No one knows if what was cut was his plot lines but he definitely is a factor for why so much had to be cut.

It’s also possible they cut that part out. A lot of the problems with the story seem to stem from the editing.

The answer for this drama is that content was cut so it could pass the censorship review. All Cdramas have to pass the censorship review in order to broadcast. Sometimes that means scenes get cut. In the case of SJFY, 11 episodes got cut so it could pass. Then it looks like Youku might have made further cuts before it aired.

The editing of the drama makes me so annoyed! Her acting is fine but now all of these people are coming to trash it.

It says Yu Xiuming was ill and would age normally so there’s a chance he passed away.

I think not understanding the backstory is leading to a lot of disappointment. Once I knew what went on, I kinda relaxed and just enjoyed the show.
I also want all the romance too!!! Most of the people watching this show are adults!!! Since when do we need to be shielded from kiss scenes!?
I held out so much hope for that princess carry😭. I’m also pissed about the scene they cut when Yezi was trying to get out of bed.

Oh, about that, from the very beginning Yu Xiuming says that she has no martial arts. That’s why she never fights, she doesn’t know how to. And I think her powers are Sky or astrology related but they seem to take a lot of time. Even her dad seemed to take a lot of time to summon his spell. It seems their powers are kind of useless in a fight or the battlefield.
I also think you may have to be trained to use the magic. When Yezi was trying not to become a slave she mentions not getting proper training but I don’t know if that meant with wielding powers.

As a PXR fan, I have such mixed views on this drama. Not about her performance because I’ve seen the BTS and can see her acting skills, but about why the editors cut her scenes so poorly and why production chose a voice actress that couldn’t keep up. If you use a scene meant for a different storyline of course the reaction will seem off. And according to Chinese fans there are several scenes were the dub and the mouth movements don’t match up also implying changes to what was originally acted. And for some strange reason her more powerful performances have been cut too. Just look at BTS between her and ZZT after the final showdown. In it she’s sobbing, holding Yi Wuyou’s face in grief but in the show it’s like a brief moment of sadness. As a fan watching those kind of cuts is maddening and I partially think that the tidbit releasing have been almost apologies to the actors for how the final cut has portrayed them.
But I still like Yezi. I think she’s a strong character even if the cuts basically gutted Yezi’s original personality into a mostly silly white sweet.
It’s made a mish-mash of things and has passer-by fans thinking she can’t act though I don’t know how this can be said after episode 21/22 which seems the most uncut showing of her character (and even there they cut her off when she was weeping over not be able to go back in time).
But Yezi is truly my favourite character out of PXR48. She’s the only character PXR has performed so far that has a clear line of growth. Watching the wolf scene and Yezi’s reaction to the villagers in episode 1 compared to how she reacts when she goes back in time in episode 21, there’s a clear difference. Yezi is also another FML role PXR has taken on who has a ML who treats her right. It’s a choice that feels intentional when most audiences remember PXR for Xiao Feng, a character who spent the last three years of her life in an abusive nightmare powered by her husband. It’s just a shame the show editors seemed so determined to ruin the show. I’m still happy about SJFY. I didn’t even think I’d ever get to meet Yezi so I guess even if the meeting is bittersweet, I’m still glad to see her and she can be another beloved character alongside Xiao Feng, Jun Jiu Ling and Li Binghe.

The final showdown actually impressed me. It’s what made me start thinking there’s been at least two editors and there’s a set of original scenes and set of for the review scenes.

I actually cried watching that BTS. It doesn’t make sense that they have all these good scenes but choose not to use them. I’m really starting to have a conspiracy theory that this show was not meant to be cut well on purpose. I know the director is dissatisfied . I also read that one of the producers came out to say something today but their post is now hidden.

1) Bai Lu broke the seal but they cut the scene that actually showed this so it was confusing. She does have powers but they seem to only have to do with astrology. The show glosses over it but it seems that there are different types of powers.
2) It basically means they are a good match.
3) He’s on the path to becoming a regular dude.

No there’s no intention of making it two parts. The cuts have nothing to do with length but with censorship and other mysterious reasons that also have nothing to do with length.

I’m starting to think destroying the quality of this drama was the point.

It’s only 25 episodes. There is no 2nd part.
