Maybe it’s because I don’t really follow other Chinese stars closely or maybe it’s my fan filter but I’ve often wondered why the criticism of her seems so harsh in comparison to other actresses when she is pretty low-key too. Her fan base rarely gets into fights with other fan bases but there is a group that doesn’t like her for various reasons and they actively campaign to turn people against her and spread rumors about her all the time. They did a lot of the work to trash Xiao Feng’s character as wilful to the point where some viewers can’t watch the barrage anymore. The way Yezi is being scolded fits the same pattern and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was them because they spend a shocking amount of energy trying to tear PXR down. 9/10 if something negative comes out, they’re either involved in it or get involved in it to trash her.

Episode 21 was so good. I felt like that’s the quality the show would have had originally. FSF and PXR really do play well together. Even their kiss scenes look good despite Cdramas usually having trash kisses. I watched the bed scene on repeat basically to watch their micro expressions but I really wished they hadn’t cut YXM pulling Yezi back into bed. Seemed like he was going to try to placate her which was super cute in episode 18.

The beginning of episode 22 …😭. I dunno why but it was really touching. Seeing the shift of emotions on PXR’s face as she interacted with the royals, her dad, and then Yu Xiuming really killed me. Especially the little smile she gave YXM as she walked by. It really hit me how lonely Yezi was in Yebei and how leaving there was the best thing for her. It made me go back to episode 21 where I saw how much she’s grown by how she dealt with the villagers wanting to kill her for the wolfs death. Such a clear sense of growth in 21 made me lament the cuts again. I think I’ll die regretting that I never saw the intended version.
What exactly is Youku’s strategy with all these d*mn cuts!!!? Is there some unknown market for romances with no romantic scenes? They even cut a stretch!!! How risqué is a stretch!?

A’Rui is literally the only person who openly cares for Yezi. She even saved Yezi’s life when they were kids. If this is the only real family member you’ve ever had in a world that has treated you harshly from day one, it makes sense to want to save them. Plus saving A’Rui means she can love Yu Xiuming without guilt.

Actually the script for this seems really good and I think if the shows wasn’t involved in the author’s scandal, it’ll probably would have been top notch at least in terms of plot and acting. Honestly low-key I think she’s being scolded by some unscrupulous Yi Wuyou fans or anti-fans using Yi Wuyou as a cover since a Yi Wuyou fan was the first complaint I saw about the character in the show’s superchat. PXR has some dedicated haters so I wouldn’t be surprised. I think the acting complaints will stop after tonight’s episode because her emotional scenes look pretty on point.
