I want to talk about the "botched ending", it is not botched at all! Imho I think it is very creative (and sad),…
Think about it, the entire last episode do not make sense-- 1) If 2 companies submit the exact same design for tender, why would the 2nd submission be accepted?? That company would have been called out for copying! Yet she won the tender? 2) How could Shao Mingzhe spoke to the Bank on behalf of Hong Yuan? He did not have such right. 3) Up until ep 39, the situation was such that it is impossible for reconciliation between Xiang An and Su Mo... 4) That wedding scene. Remember Xia Ran Ran had dreamt a similar sequence earlier? And I can't see how Shao Ming Zhe would ever agree to dress in full white like a prince in fairytale.
Throughout the drama, Xia Ran Ran occasionally talks to herself and have fantastical daydreams. So that ending is probably her fantasy, her wish of what could be. The real ending is up to our own interpretation.... I would say drama is an OE (open ending).
If we really look at Xia Ran Ran, tbh, anyone in her position would have gone mad. It is really a lot of crazy stuffs to happen to one person.

I'm enjoying Crossroad Bistro!! It is like Nothing But 30 + My Best Friend's Story (for me). The story is really fast pace with realistic timeline (the story took few months for the restaurant renovations) although the 5 women friendships feel a bit pretentious, if you can look past that, drama has a lot of little life lessons + sneak peeks into the film industry
Hiiii do you have recommendations of other cdramas similar to this? I dun wan Taiwanese dramas though... It is quite rare to see similar complicated rich families with a lot of secrets and tangled romances like in this, in Chinese dramas
Ahhhh does anyone have a good recommendation on similar makjang drama? I see Go Go Squid 2 listed but that is such a wrong recommendation!! Completely different genres
Ironically I was just talking about Yang Xuwen's scandal with frens..... He was blacklisted in 2017 becos of what happened, but as investigations cleared him of any wrong-doing, he managed to recovered and I recently see him in Crossroad Bistro (currently airing). I think Painting Jianghu was shelved, did not even complete shooting becos of what happened?
Me, sudden ideal on the plot, just want to write down here before I reached the end
Did Shao Mingzhe's father and Xiao Ran Ran's mother have an affair?? Both parents went missing around same time, it is also weird neither stayed in touch with families.... It would be too makjang twist if that is true, more like something that happens in Thai drama than in cdrama, but the coincidence in timing fit this possibility.....
I'm sure they'll just put CGI over his face but it will be very hard because he's so neckless! The new face would…
It is 60 eps, 60 eps of 40 mins each π. Even if they do face change, drama would be stuck in production for at least 1 more year.... the cost and time, is it worth it for the company?
π€π€ I was thinking after I finished it, that someone should write an article to recommend this drama, and here you are!! Lol, definitely on my Top 10 cdramas of 2021 π
No. Actors are still not announced yet. They are only starting with sets design (building construction) π But they probably have already signed the actors, just delaying the announcement....
Episode 7 - Han Kyung appears! He does exist! Although he looks different these daysI'm beginning to hate Xiao…
To be fair, this drama is showing several stereotypes.... just as it shows women to be fickle-minded and difficult to work with, it also has a few MCP men (men who thought of themselves first and women are just accessories). It is also quite gutsy to talk about the competition for 1st line name display in film industry and using numbers to replace dialogues (since it'd be dubbed over)..... It is talking stereotypes and challenging the stereotypes

or if production is able to use tech to 'change face' for ML, but that would need another year or so of production π
