Hang in there! There is a good emo scene in ep 12 or 13.... Story is great in the first half, but um, can consider dropping in the 40s eps.... due to censorship issues, story becomes incoherent towards the end.
Why is this drama rated so highly? I find it shocking. Chinese cannot produce a serious modern drama or thriller…
Um, avoid cdramas that list Yu Zheng as screenwriter. The guy love to be theatrical and melodramatic.... There are good thrillers such as The Long Night, The Bad Kids, Burning Ice, Day and Night..... and the recently completed spy thriller, The Rebel.
As for why this series is highly rated, those who enjoy nonsensical dramas, will love this series. I had an okay time watching this. It was fun.

Tbh, if this is 20 eps, the direction and acting are sufficient. But for a 43 eps drama, the script is too weak -_-". You can't keep the suspense and tension throughout just on ML's action sequences.... And FL is there, to do embroidery 🙄. Good qn ^^". Been some time since I watched this, I think I was searching for the word to describe their interactions and chose "camp" which means exaggerated, unrealistic and forced.... I think I was talking about Jasper and Qin Lan being civil and diplomatic with each other. In the initial eps Jasper kept forgetting this is a romance show and addressed Qin Lan as elder sister (she would act upset when that happens), subsequently they try to inject in a bit of romantic atmosphere but it comes across as unreal. I was quite disappointed becos I tot Qin Lan would have some interesting thoughts on love to share in the show, as she is the eldest. But end up it is Yitong and Yan Lin who had the most meaningful conversations on love and romance. Neo and Chaoyue were also more interesting becos of their initial conflicts, how they gradually learn to work together and we can see some sparks between them in the last few eps.
Hiiii!! I'm a fellow LYT fan too \o/ I haven't seen Blossom in Heart and Fate, I try to avoid over-complicated romance dramas, but for Yitong, maybe. How was Blossom in Heart and Fate for you? I love her in Legend of the Condor Heroes (2017), Bloody Romance and Royal Nirvana. If you have a basic understanding in Chinese, do check out "Don't Think Twice Love's All Right", the drama is average but her acting as Xia Ke Ke is a pure delight to watch! A very sassy, street smart and kind-hearted character.
