Personally I am also not like that. However, I do realise that some people are really like our FL. They carry that victim mentality in them. They think they are only worth if they sacrifice. These people I know that are like, then have kids so they can "sacrifice for the family". In case of our FL according to her novel background, she grew up in an abusive home, where she was belittled and opressed her whole life. The only person that gave her any kind of respect was her sister. Assuming also that she was very young when the flashback events happened, I see why she did not have the courage to admit to herself she is in love with ML. She thought that is betraying her sister and most importantly the life she knows. She needed some time to grow up and relax herself into love with our ML. Unfortunately, her sister used her naivette and manipulated her into thinking FL ows her. So our FL did not even think to put ML first. He is a stranger, sister is family, she was nice to her so she ows her. I think this is all just a mask to cover her inability to lead her own life without someone putting chains on her and directing her. I sometimes wonder about her lies. They look more to me like lies to herself more than to others. When her bubble breaks in the end she is unable to cope with all that comes out of it.
And if our ML was not so obsessed and if he moved on, their love would be like a first love from young days, memory in the wind, and she would only in her older days, when Chang'er does not need her anymore, she would begin to analyse her life, mistakes, lack of courage and missed ships. Perhaps, while watching our ML happy with his family. However our ML did not move on, so we got what we got.

I like all the actors, and I think they all did their job very well, even the kid. Regarding FL, I think it is just her character here is a bit annoying, a little bit hesitant and guarded.
Personally I like the ending of this one but since this is the adaptation of an original work with HE it is understandable people are dissatisfied. I hope some conclusion will come in the specials mon-tue 🤞
