Very likeable characters. I had to watch the scenes with the Evil Mother at 2x speed, but otherwise this was a healing and pleasant watch, perfect when you need an engaging but not stressful show.
To be fair, am only on episode one, but trying to go into it without expectations. Adaptatons aren't supposed to copy the original work. They should be seen as a separate work that recontextualized or retold a story. For example, Disney's Little Mermaid borrows from the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale but remakes it for another audience. If Disney used the same story, an entire generation of kids would've been traumatized for life. Plus, sometimes it's just fun to jump into a story and see it for the first time. It could be a lousy story, but it's a new story.
For all the drama's imperfections, Lee Jung Eun deserves an award for her performance in this show. And I think the plot deserves some applause for calling attention to some modern problems, like how hard it is to get a job and a fair break, especially when you're older or don't have connections. I was disappointed by the romance/mystery too but maybe the point was for the FLs to come to terms with their not-so-perfect lives. It's a drama about mid-life crisis with a serial killer and a cat, LOL.
I regret not waiting until this is done before starting because I want answers now, lol. Also I wish the writer/director found more reasons to make ML laugh. He looks younger/cuter when he laughs. In that short scene where he did, I finally got it and thought, "Yep, over my second lead syndrome."
Some episodes bored me, some made me ugly cry. But this is definitely a show that will make you realize every birth (and life) has a backstory, and so many people worked together so you can be here today. As a mom who went thru difficult pregnancies, this hit me in so many ways. But even if you haven't, I think this show is a lovely reminder that every life is a miracle.
It was cute but too long. Lost interest from ep 30 onwards. However, both ML and FL were likeable. I also like the relationship between the sisters and wish more of the plot revolved around the two of them working together.
I liked the cameo and bad-ass Hwang Geum Joo on a motorcycle. Everything else I played at 1.5x speed. (It's a shame Netflix won't let you play it at 2x). I think the actors tried their best and I like them individually. But it just didn't come together for me. Season 1 had all the elements of a "campy favorite" and it clicked. Season 2 tried the same formula but lacked the charm. Oh well, win some and lose some.
Same vibes. I only got to episode 10 by running it in the background while I did the treadmill. Am I missing something? All my friends lvoed this, lol.
