I can't get over the tension, suffocation she experiences at thinking how influential she is over San (her comment…
This is why I love this drama. I also love that it shows Doek-Im’s feelings even better than the novel translations I’ve read so far. San knows what’s in her heart even if she doesn’t verbally confirm it but at the end of the ep13, he finally understands why she hesitates because they talk about it. She basically confirmed her feelings and fears…she’s not afraid of him but afraid of loosing herself. She may fear that she loves him so much that if she took that final leap, she’ll suffer through anything for him; tribulations of suffocating palace life, other concubines and all.
Happens to many Royals in ancient Asian countries because the choice of having concubines isn’t really the King’s or the Prince’s because of maintaining political alliances and balances. A while back, I watched a Thai historical epic about one of the Kings and literally as soon as he returned from war to his wife, 2 concubines just showed up at the palace from the fiefdoms as offerings from lower states. No choice but to keep them less he starts a war.
If Wonbin and Hwabin (who will appear in episode 14) can appear in the drama why not Queen Hyoui….
I’m still holding out hope that she’ll show up in end of 14/start of 15. I think they’ll time skip Hwabin too like they did Wonbin and Doek-I’m becomes concubine at end of 14 or beginning of 15. That should fit in the pacing as we’ve seen the development of their bond/love from beginning so hoping 15, they get rid of Doek-Ro and 15,16,17 is their married life.
Am I the only one that heard it again? King telling his mum about who he will choose to be his queen? Are they…
What he said was basically his Queen is from the highest aristocratic family and now they also already chosen his concubine from another aristocratic family, his mom’s clan so his mom is probably satisfied, sarcastically. His Queen has already been there.
I had avoided the thread because I didn't want to be spoiled, but now I took a deep dive into it and I hope some…
I couldn’t help it. Aside from San being written more aggressive the novel , some of the interactions were sweet and sincere making me hope they’re in the drama. Junho and SeYoung did a great job of becoming their own version of San and Doek-Im from the novel and history with their expressions and voice.
I was so excited. Usually clips are release at 8am where I live. I’ve never been so excited for 8am in my life
I’m going to be the one constantly checking my Viki app tomorrow even though I know from the past couple weeks it’s being released late fully subbed 🤣😂
Oh my SanDoek heart. I just read JLML718 post #38 in the Drama vs Novel vs History thread. Praying to the Kdrama gods that scene is in one of the episodes.
Current age of the leads (27, 28) as of episode 12https://twitter.com/crimmang/status/1473927887221047298?s=21(Not…
That should be close to the age they should be at since Doek-Ro’s sister isn’t a concubine just yet. Doek-Im becomes an official concubine at like age 29 and delivers Prince Munyo at age 30.
Ack….I can’t translate the article. Anything interesting?
Agreed they should have but at least they didn’t recast her with someone older so now he can have a legit reason to avoid their wedding night and bed chamber. Normally they cast someone older who’s supposed to be young to avoid criticism.

I’m kind of glad they didn’t change the actress that plays Doek-Ro’s sister? She’s too young so the excuse (age-like a little sister) that San’s supposed to use from the novel to avoid consummation will work.
