The synopsis makes the plot look extremely similar to the Korean drama “You Honor”. Is this one a remake? Or is it just similar?

It was partially based on the manga (Alice in Borderland: Retry), f.e the whole Arisu and Usagi plot after the…

it gave off Mr sunshine vibes with the ML being so old compared to the FLs LMAO
(personally I don’t like the main couple) but they hey don’t look miles apart in age tho? She looks around 30 and he looks around 40 (which is similar to their respective ages in real life, additionally they both look really good for their age) it’s about a 10 year difference (which is pretty normal) and neither of them are young adults.
He looks slightly older than her, which is just true.

How was it successful? Were the netflix viewer ratings good? I hadn't heard any noise of this when it released,…
Arthdal Chronicles is a really interesting case, it wasn’t popular when released but then it gained traction to the point they made a second season.

People don’t have to look young and pretty to have good chemistry with their on-screen partners. Sometimes it’s way easier to watch two people that you find attractive do the romantic stuff (I admit) but it’s usually the case with heavily romance-centered dramas, on the other hand a lot of attractive young actors could have the acting range of a wooden board, so no matter how good they look their performance and chemistry is bad. Sometimes the age gap is a plot point in the drama, and sometimes - like here - when the actors are good, you can feel at least decent chemistry between characters no matter if they’re attractive to you or not. And most times, it doesn’t matter what kind of age gap the leads have in real life, or how they look, what matters is their performance.

Hmm. I found it nice at the beginning BUT, to be honest, the survival game was unrealistic. So many flying non-penetrating…
I kinda agree, it was (at least the fighting scenes) clearly made with the entertainment in mind, not really realism

with violent dramas like this one, it’s always so funny to see the behind the scenes photos with the actors still covered in fake blood etc but being all merry and smiling.

In what time period does this drama happen?

I really like this poster, it looks somewhat old-fashioned (like old historical dramas) and that gives it a unique feel.

Titles in kdramas all sound alike. I’d swear I’d all ready seen this just from the title. Anyhoo love the…
There was another article posted about it tho, like a month ago (with almost the same title), about that these actors are rumored to star in this drama (and confirmed that they received the script and are reviewing it). This one confirms the casting!

Thank you, you are a blessing! I do not have a particularly strong desire to watch the whole series, but as I got incredibly interested in the Souther Archives/Southern Anecdote upcoming drama adaptation I was always overwhelmed by my desire to know what’s going on in this series, what goes in which order etc. while never being able to comprehend and organise it myself - until today, I found your list! Thank you again!

[On a side note: there is so much stuff based off of these novels or using it’s characters 😭 some of it contradictory, some of it are re-makes and even the continuations of the stories almost never has the same cast (why tho??)… it gets so confusing - especially for someone like me who has not read the novels, but likes to know the details of everything.]

I have a question though; there are a lot of movies and spin-offs to the Mystic Nine series (particularly interesting to me is the Mystic Nine: Qing Shan Hai Tang - which apparently is also a prequel to the main series you mentioned here?), is there any particular order to watching them? Are they based off of novels too or just made in addition to the series?
