He's less unapproachable (?) in the novel. What the novel offers is more of his thoughts? That's usually hard…
Agreed. Often, dramas take only a few elements from the novel, which can sometimes be confusing or cause some viewers to dislike certain characters. I fail to see the chemistry between the two leads. But again, I have only watched 8 episodes.

I’m caught up with all the episodes and I still share this opinion. It’s a two-fold problem. 1. The ML character…
Without his nightmares, we wouldn't get to truly know him. I agree that the script adds more depth with the FL.

Thank you for saying it's not his usual way of acting.

Title Pursuit of Jade Spoiler
that's his role. he shows more emotions in other dramas (not all) so you don't like the character in this drama.…
I understand what you are saying, and that’s why I might read the novel. I see why he is hiding while recovering. I understand he lost his parents tragically. I get that there are family intrigues. I have a pretty good idea that she has a higher status than a girl who slaughters pigs. I know he has a high status and all. I get it. But he doesn't show emotions on his face. For my taste, it takes too long for him to tell her the truth, especially after the assassins in the woods.

This is just my personal opinion, but I don't like men hiding the truth. It feels manipulative. How can a woman trust such a man in the future? So whenever he feels like it, he will hide the truth. It comes across as condescending and dishonest. Hiding the truth is a form of lying. The male lead doesn't seem genuine. I don't know much about this actor except for watching him in "Fairy and "Devil," which honestly didn't leave much of a memorable impression except for the plastic he wore. 😜

I know it’s only a drama, but I have a hard time liking both the actor and the character.

Also, he was close to dying, and it took 24 hours to recover? Why didn't they call him a concubine instead of whatever they are calling him?

I hope to change my mind after few more episodes.

I am probably in the minority, and I don’t mind—everyone is entitled to share their opinion.

I really like the female lead, Tian Xi Wei; she excels in this kind of role—a kind, sweet, naive, innocent character. However, I have some issues with the male character, Zhang Ling He. I find him very cold, and I don’t like that. I understand it’s part of the story, but I don’t like men lying, even if they believe it’s for a good reason. I find it mean and unnecessary. It’s okay for one or two episodes, but no more, even if he paid a lot to make her life easier. It’s still lying. Something about it bothers me. I plan to read the novel, and maybe the TV drama doesn’t portray the male lead accurately. Maybe if he showed more emotion on his face, but he doesn’t. He wears the same cold face over and over. I haven’t watched all the available episodes yet, and I hope this will change. However, the actor, Ren Hao, is the cherry on top of the cake.

It's been a while since I enjoyed a drama that much. It is the perfect role for Tian Xi Wei. Another drama that I want to watch also has a novel I wish to read.

Do not support murderers and criminals. Always check and boycott the entertainment figures who have raped, hurt, and murdered Yu Menglong, as well as the media outlets (such as EE Media, Mango TV, and Tianyu Media) that promote crime and are complicit in these acts. At least eight known individuals have died under suspicious circumstances connected to those mediaa, with many more likely unreported victims who have conveniently died by suicide or in car accidents. This is a safe and effective way to impact them financially—hitting them where it hurts: their profits.

Rumor has it that he will be the co-lead with Zhao Lusi in a historical drama. This should help propel his career forward.

Hmmm, what critics exactly?? The thing I hate most about some of these articles are the ambiguous "they"…
It’s known as clickbait, and unfortunately, people tend to be more attracted to negativity than to positivity, which they often find boring. The old adage still holds true: if there is drama, I can write multiple articles about it. When everything is going well, there isn’t much to discuss. It’s a sad reality that people enjoy gossip—especially the more scandalous, the better—and often feel a sense of satisfaction when the rich and famous face difficulties. Human nature often appears to avoid happiness. Anonymous posters tend to amplify negativity.
