Currently watching Snow Sword. Thanks for the tip. Same witty character. Will let you know my impressions ;) I think I mix it with the dance of the phoenixes

I enjoy only happy endings :P but will give a try with sword snow and rise of the Phoenix. I do not like the FL in long ballad but love Zhao lusi and wu, Kunning is too sad for me.
I suggest the story of minglan, rumors feast and new life begins. Recently I enjoyed a low budget k-drama “faith”. I have watched a few but I definitely crave dramas such JOL ;)

Thanks for the suggestion!!. Plenty of dramas but few masterpieces. I am generally more into secondary characters. My major pet peeve is childish play and unfortunately dozens out there.

No I don't want to know about his origins. I love spoilers but somehow I think I will enjoy it more if I don't know too much Love stories though are not in the center of this drama so it is fun to picture him a womanizer lol

So ML got 3 affairs… emperor of Qi, haintang and Lin waner? No silili. I thought his father was the emperor? Lollll I need to read the book. My imagination goes all over the place

Thanks! So my assumption that ML will not end up with his sweetheart is correct. I am expecting she will die because of him. I would have thought haitang was his real love after the death of his sweetheart's first love. The connection with hairang is too intense. So you are saying that the emperor of Qi who is a woman will probably marry the prince (ML when he will be revealed son of emperor and next crown prince)….. Wow I didn't see that coming but it makes sense. Unless ML had an affair when he was in Qi which was cut from story in this tv drama?
Once again, I dislike the female lead because she seems too immature. It is a romantic comedy but still annoying to watch the dumb maid, the stupid emperor, and the childish behaviours all around. I am pushing myself to continue watching the show despite her character.
The book has a happy ending. It doesn't end in the icy lake. Thanks to the bloggers and above discussions! If not reading those to know the real ending, I would have continued to be very frustrated.
Sidenote… and as usual in dramas I watch I fell for the second (Yan Xun) and third (Xiao Ce) male leads lol
wait, the ending is that ambiguous? I'd love for confirmation ): I dont want effort to go to waste. I don't mind…
She traveled back in time multiple times until she found him. He had been waiting for her for 5 years, and with just one look, they exchanged a mutual understanding. She left her life behind for him and he knew it. I agree that it lacked a bit of touching or kissing though but at least it was a happy ending.
We have to blame the Chinese censorship for time travel dramas. Scriptwriters need to follow certain guidelines…
I recently watched a Chinese drama about time travel, where the female lead went back in time. I also know of a futuristic time travel drama (not set in today's era) that is going to be released soon with a twisted ending. Obviously, there are different kinds of censorship involved…I understand that scriptwriters have to follow guidelines if they want their script approved, but I am curious if they do not change Chinese history events why it would be restricted for a character of fiction to go back to living for good with the love of her life? Scriptwriters are just lazy using the same bittersweet or sad ending. Maybe giving a river of tears to the fans is their happy ending uh? If the couple is not meant to be together from the start, then the drama should not be labeled a romance. If K-Drama scriptwriters can offer happy endings (not always, I agree but way more) why not C-Drama scriptwriters? (Faith - The Great Doctor). I already have a hard time with comedy but time travel is soon to be added on my black list. Not worth it.
Time travel in romance stories always seems to result in a sad ending where the couple is separated. Usually, the male protagonist either has a doppelganger in the modern era or rarely, he joins the heroine through time. There's only been one instance I watched so far where the heroine goes back in time and returns after 10 years without aging (thank you cosmetics anti-aging!) To me, this kind of time travel plot is not romantic at all and quite the opposite of what a love story should be. Bittersweet or sad ending 99% each time. 😑
Scriptwriters have no imagination and use the same boring overused sad/separation endings.
