I loved new life begins. I strongly suggest you to watch love like the galaxy, then royal feast. Both are very different but for me top of the top. And you are definitely not alone in being obsessed with c-dramas (period costume for me). I recently watched a few K-dramas and enjoyed them too.

Thanks. I have the same understanding. Under 8, doesn't forbid me from watching but it gives me an insight that something may be wrong, so I prepare myself mentally to downgrade my expectations.

Die-hard fans are tough cookies. I careless what they say or think. I care about open-minded people who can make a difference between bad casting, bad directing, bad chemistry, bad scripts, bad edits, and bad production without being biased and put anyone on a pedestal.
Everyone deserves to wear Channel, Versace etc. Not everyone can wear it and fit the clothes. Same with dramas. One actor or actress may be excellent but bad pairing equals bad chemistry, bad play and bad drama. The most talented actor will never save a drama with a bad script or directing. Some actors and actresses are just not meant for everything. It is very common to see flops from very famous actors and actresses.
