False. Channel 3 is hugely into whitewashing the thai population. 30% of their roster is eurasian, while the rest are light skinned chinese people.

Hardly any southeast asian representation can be seen in Channel 3's roster of actors. Let alone dark skin asians.

The unforgiveable drama Mae Krua Kon Mai proves that they rather paint an actress brown than give dark skin people decent representation or lead roles

and most of those shows i rated bad on purpose because i'm doing my part in Boycotting Channel 3 and other problematic networks for their use of Blackface/Minstrel show like tropes. Am i not justified in doing that to help the Colorism cause? I'm boycotting ALOT of Thai shows. That should show you i'm serious in changing things and spreading awareness.

Sorry but i think fighting colorism is more important than supporting the careers of a bunch of actor's who are complicit to what is going on. And quite honestly i would still do the same even if it starred my favorite actor.

i am mostly going after Thai media that indulges in blackface and smearing people with dark skin. I think theres improvement for other companies to hire more Blasians but right now, my focus is going after companies that are blatantly racist aka Channel 3. Did you know that 30% of their actors are eurasian? Thats a sign of a privileged minority being used to erase people. Eurasians represent less than 1% of the population there. We need more diverse stories centered around Thai ethnicities that have nothing to do with Chinese or Eurasian people.

Do not try to peddle a "colorism is everywhere, so you should do nothing" argument. Thats a gaslighting tactic.

They also frequently replace dark skin women with non-passing trans gag comedians. Jenny from GMMTV in particular is currently being used as a Minstrel Show by the Thai chinese upper class to paint dark skin women with a negative image + masculinizing them. ex. They intentionally hire unattractive ones for propaganda purposes!

They are not going to hire attractive dark skin women that would be considered competition/visually equal to the light skin main leads. They always gotta have something wrong about them, whether looks or personality.

A rich chinese person painting themselves brown while trying to portray a southeast asian native is still unexcuseable.

Dark skin people are ERASED in thai media and never given the spotlight and painting your skin brown to take away representation (and to MOCK them) is just as hurtful.

omg. i'm glad i'm not crazy. I'd see 1000 upvotes comments on youtube saying hes carrying both shows (Kinn and CutiePie) with his acting. I had to rip off my headphones and read the subtitles during his scenes 😅

His thai fluency would make him suitable for a foreign character. Which i'm fine with but even in that role, i can tell his acting is not great. Almost sounds like he does not mean what he is saying. There is no geniuneness behind his words in his scenes.

Eurasians in general are considered "shoo in's" for lead acting roles in Thailand because they can attract viewers and sponsors etc. So thats why directors are willing to hire someone like that regardless of their language skills.

You'll notice that if a novel/script calls for a dark skin character, they'd rather tan filter a chinese or eurasian person instead. Its an ugly side of the Thai entertainment industry.

Granted there are good eurasian actors like Mario Maurer and Bas Suradet. But the bad ones tend to shine a light on how much privilege people will get for their looks and class.

Perth seems like a really nice guy and hes handsome but i really wish the people in the comments would stop saying his acting is good. I can barely get through his scenes because of how awkward he sounds (even when he says his lines in english)

Usually people are supposed to work their way up with experience towards the directing role. Clearly he got this role based on "behind the scenes" connections . They are supposed to hire people who are qualified for the director role SMH

These are considered red flags when browsing dramas to watch. The same could also be said about actors who debut in a lead role.
