Yeah, as a southeast asian person myself. I'm highly self aware of the agenda they trying to push on the TV shows.
but a vast majority of Thai people are not educated on it and not self aware so they fall prey to the toxic imagery the industry pushes (particularly towards women because they are the ones who buy beauty products mostly)
There are attractive women with brown skin that exist in Thailand but you'll quickly notice how they will never be hired in lead roles because it would help portray darker skin in a positive image and as desirable. They intentionally only hire unattractive Dark skin representation and always put them in Minstrel show roles. They do this because they want you to idolize the lighter skin lead female instead.
