I hope this production will win some Golden Globes. It would deserve it, anyway, in my opinion. An enormous effort in every respect. Beautiful, mesmerizing, genuine, great craftsmanship in all details.
Don't know why you see that English perspective so bad. It's a book and a movie, created from the imagination…
You know what? If you can show me in this series a black actor or a non-Japanese actor playing a samurai or something that contradicts the originality and the Japanese language, spirit, history and culture, I will say "Yes, you and Nauriya are right". Until then .... Sayonara! The series is just aired and there are already a lot of ravens flying in circles in the sky... And what is more annoying is there are a lot of "voices" saying "I will not watch because is not Asian". I think it's plain stupid. How would you know if it's a bad series if you don't even try to watch? How would you judge over something you don't even know?
I suppose you talk here about "Bridgerton" and "Queen Charlotte". Are you able to make the difference between fantasy and reality? What "British Queen"? Are "Bridgerton" and "Queen Charlotte" based on true historical facts? NO. They are imaginary characters, living in an imaginary kingdom. In a fantasy everything is allowed. I don't think you ever saw a Queen Elisabeth played by a black actress or a King Henry/James/Charles whatever number played by an African, African-American or Asian actor in a movie based on true historical facts. Think a little before you speak.
Brainwashed. I lived in communism for the first 23 years of my life, being now able to recognize a brain so washed that it glows in the dark . It's sad to see this and worrying seeing more and more of the same. They are also fanatic in their "believes", being sure they hold the absolute truth. The world would look absolutely terrifing.
You probably know better than all the Japanese actors and staffs that participated in this production. How infatuated…
Foolish pride. And very dangerous, to despise other cultures and civilisations. Alarming to see more and more like this. I love and have a huge respect for the Japanese culture and history, but Japan is only a small part of this world. Every country and every culture/civilization deserve respect. We are not alone in the world, wherever we are. Earth became a little village :)
Don't know why you see that English perspective so bad. It's a book and a movie, created from the imagination…
Me too! His name is Uraga-noh-Tadamasa-san (Josef) and he becomes John Blackthorne's vassal, before he dies assassinated. He said "we spent 8 years on the way (to Rome) and back... I was 12 years old when I left". Would be great to see that :)
it is nor right to liat this seties as Asian. it is produced by 3 studios that are american and executive producers…
Don't know why you see that English perspective so bad. It's a book and a movie, created from the imagination of a genius English author. It smells of stupid arrogance: just because "it's not Asian". At least for me. It's worrying to see so much "superiority of race" in so many comments here.
I would love to see a movie or read a book about a Japanese sailed to England in that time. In the book there is something about some Japanese munks and samurai sent to Vatican and how much they hated the place, the European way of living at that time and how the Catholic Church was conducting it's business. But I want to see a stranded Japanese in Scotland, Cumbria or Cornwall in 1600. How an Asian subject would have survived in Europe at 1600, especially a Japanese :)) Anyway, he wouldn't have been boiled to death...
I am very grateful that James Clavell wrote his books. Not all are about Japan, he wrote a lot about China and Hongkong. You should be grateful, too. He opened our eyes and minds about the Japanese culture, the Asian universe in general. After the WWII, when Japan was not popular at all, his books changed a lot our perspective about that part of the world.
You can all cry about it. Ofc old people can love but I just don't want to watch an old man in a full romance…
In the first message you exposed your prejudices and obtuseness. In the last message you exposed your stupidity. You don't even deserve someone to waste their time texting you. You don't understand anything anyway. You managed to offend a lot of people on this page. I am 56. Married for 21 years and still in love with my husband. What should I do after your "thinking"? Dig a hole in the ground and hide there with him, trying to be "subtle"? My advise to you is to leave the TV and the laptop and better start reading some good books. Get a subscription to a library. Get some knowledge and understanding of the humans that live around you. Get yourself out of that cave you live in. And sweety, if you don't want to watch - just DON'T WATCH! You'd be doing us a favor...
You don't know what happens in Western countries. How many immigrants are in Western Europe and in USA, Canada etc. You think strictly to Japan. The problem is that you promote rasism here, not DEI. Yes, I have copy pasted because it's available to everyone to find if they are interested. You misunderstood everything and took it all upside down. Don't know if you do it by purpose or you're really only misguided. The biggest difference is that DEI is for people, everybody should have a chance while you think strictly in terms of profit. Take care with your way of thinking. You are sliding deeper and deeper in nationalism and racism there. Your way of speaking about other countries and other ideologies proves arrogance and is dangerous. Remember the history. Have a good afternoon and evening there. The day has just started here.
"Diversity, equity, and inclusion are three closely linked values held by many organizations that are working to be supportive of different groups of individuals, including people of different races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders, and sexual orientations."
"What is an example of DEI? Organizations can promote diversity and inclusion by changing their policies and procedures. This can include implementing action against discrimination and anti-harassment policies, creating family-friendly policies, and providing accommodations for employees with disabilities."
"Why is DEI so important? Diversity allows for new perspectives, equity creates a fair environment and can help to provide opportunities for individuals who need it, and inclusion helps employees feel a sense of belonging and understanding."
"How do you explain DEI to someone? DEI stands for diversity, equity and inclusion. It is based on the idea that recruiting and supporting workers of various backgrounds is integral to a company's success, and encompasses policies and initiatives designed to help all employees feel welcomed and equipped to perform their jobs at a high level."
"Is DEI a good thing? DEI is not only the right thing to do, it also makes good business sense. backgrounds, identities and experiences collectively and as individuals. It emphasizes the need for representation of communities that are systemically underrepresented and under resourced."
Somebody misunderstood and that is not me. I advice to read about it before post here all that nonsense.
I think for the biggest thing is that at 50 yr old it's better to have subtle romance rather than full romance.…
So you think people in their 50s should not love, have romance and live a full life? I suppose you're very young. Wait to reach your 50s and tell if you think the same. 50 years old it's not even OLD. People in their 80s fall in love and have romance. And I think people like you have no right to comment that. Heart has no age. Love has no age.
"Subtle and hinted romance" - what is that? People in their 50s should hide their life because people like you judge them? Who's making rules about this? What have wrinkles or gray hair to do with feelings? I love to see old couples walking hand in hand on the street. They give hope to younger couples that there real exist love lasting a lifetime. Or there is possible to find and feel love at any age.
Me too!I read the book when in high school, veeeeeery long time ago . I was a teenager living in a dark and opressed…
Thank you :) That story is from 40 years ago! I said it's a veeeeery long time ago :)) Life was generous with me, now living in Scandinavia, married for 21 years to a viking, a 15 years old son... But couldn't and wouldn't forget my roots, my birth country and all those things that made me who I am now. Past cannot be changed but I used it to learn and form my mentality. I am grateful for what I am and where I am now, never taking anything for granted. Maybe if I was born in another place and time didn't realise it. Wish you all the best from here :)
Me too! I read the book when in high school, veeeeeery long time ago . I was a teenager living in a dark and opressed communist country. "Shogun" was printed in a very short edition and the books were circulating like fire from hand to hand, I had a weekend to read 2 big volumes. I remember that I didn't sleep or eat, being afraid I would use time for those, not being able to leave the books from my hands :)) It was a huge eye opener, a whole new world for me, the Far East universe of which I didn't know anything at that time. We were living our sad and depressed lives under harsh conditions, trapped into own country, no contact to the rest of the world. Books were the only way to evade our reality. My first James Clavell book. Never forgot it. I've been thinking for long time now how great would be to see a new version of it, the 1980 one has disappointed me. After "The Last Samurai" (2003) started to wonder why a new version of "Shogun" was not made yet, because it's a great movie material. Well, I've waited for only 20 years :)) Have a great time watching it! There are only 3 weeks and 2 days to wait :) Maybe we can talk about it after we watch it.
Why are they calling it Helsin imstead of Helsinki? At first I thought it was bad subbing but both Viki and WeTV…
Funny, isn't it? I am only at ep. 2 and that thing with "this line has fewer people" (in the metro) it's ridiculous :) Fewer doesn't mean none. They would have stopped that line if no passengers :) There is a rich night life in Helsinki, actually. I thought at first that it was somewhere in Sweden but later understood it's Finland. Indications at the train station are in Finnish, Swedish and English.
I agree with you on some points and do not agree on others.Yes, it was also his fault that he didn't tell Moeun…
I would be really glad! :) Last evening/night sat and read 17 chapters of "A sign of affection" and stopped only because I was too tired, my eyes could not longer stay open. It was also 3 am local hour (Central European Time). Love them both, also Rin and Kyouya. I have already noticed Oushi ... A foolish way to be in love with a girl like Yuki :)
Itsuomi is such a hot green flag :) I expect that he has a kind of trauma, a tragic story somehow - his constant need to travel around comes from that (?). But when is about Yuki, he is great. I will look for you, thank you for your friendship and for your kindness :) Have a great Sunday!
I agree with you on some points and do not agree on others.Yes, it was also his fault that he didn't tell Moeun…
Thank you :) Now you made me curious to read the manga too :) Then it's true, in the next episodes we should expect some tough things she would do to Yuki :(
I've started to watch anime only 1 year ago. And discovered the world of manga too at the same time - it was a wow for me, a new whole universe. I love "The Apothecary's Diaries" the anime and I read its manga online to the current chapter, it's ongoing. Waiting and checking every day if there is a new chapter :) I have a 15 years old son, manga and anime are something to talk together :) He recommends me what I should watch, we have different tastes of course, but he knows what I like and asks me "Have you seen this new one ... ? It's something you would love" He never fails :)
I just saw the 3rd episode of A sign of affection ( anime), and it showed exactly what should you do when a girl…
I agree with you on some points and do not agree on others.
Yes, it was also his fault that he didn't tell Moeun about what happened in the past and didn't set a line with the ex, telling her "Stop! You go up to this line and nothing more". He was not ferm with her, undecided and weak. And that woman had no limits. Even if Moeun and Jin Woo were only friends, he didn't want Seo Kyung back, so he should have set boundaries to her. She was pushy and didn't care of people's feelings. Jin Woo knew that both women work at the same place. Some explanations to Moeun were absolutely necessary.
Moeun felt left outside every time she saw them using the sign language, because she could some but far away from their speed and nuances. She saw them talking in sign language many times - and she made steps back instead of showing up and stepping fermly in her own territory. She was now Jin Woo's girlfriend but she was so unsecure on herself. He should have told her more about his feelings for her and much earlier. Jin Woo didn't tell her anything about present, too. He met Seo Kyung many times without telling Moeun. He even let Seo Kyung inside his house, at night, not telling Moeun anything about that. He was deeply shocked when she told him what she saw that rainy night and only then he tried to explain. It was too late for her. And she started to change from that moment. Yes, Moeun was annoying and she went down in a spiral of selfinflicted feelings, becoming unhappy and hurting Jin Woo. He broke up with her because he couldn't watch her be unhappy in their relationship. That was a result of non-communication from both sides.
I've just watched ep. 3 of "A sign of affection" and I love it! Can't wait the next episode :)) And no, in my opinion Itsuomi should have told that girl "Go home! I have nothing for you. Never come here again. We can meet at the bar." Because now I can imagine that girl will try to make Yuki's life very hard.
Until then .... Sayonara!
