Liu Yi Fei is very good, really gifted with talent for acting.
She managed to make us understand that love comes in many forms and is possible to love many times in a lifetime. She was in love with 3 (maybe 4) men in her life and she loved each of them in a different way. And after she is not with those men anymore, she still has feelings for all of them also in a different way. They remain with her forever, dead or alive.

Her life continues and I am sure she will fall in love again - but that man or men have to be really special to be able to make her admire and give herself away to them. At 40, Rose lived so intense and lived like for 3 lives already. I would be curious to know what is to come for her in the future. Which kind of man she would give her heart to, because Rose cannot live without love :) She must burn and give love away, this is her nature and she has unlimited amount of love to give to all around her.

I really like this drama. It's realistic and honest, good and bad shown without hypocrisy and (thinking that is a series made in China) without fear :) There is some hope.
A 9/10 from me.

And that was not enough. She asking for money all the time like nothing happened. The most disgusting creature.

Prodigy, an imense talent. Too much for him. He understood that he would have made her give up on it when he asked her to come to Paris, when he put his career above hers. And also understood why she left him then.
And then how much she loved Jia Ming.

And cut off that part of his body he "thinks" the most with.

I have also a son 15 years old, now is that time for his first exams in school. This week he has exams each day, today was maths written. Tomorrow is maths oral. Wednesday is Danish language - reading and spelling (has to correct a text with errors in grammar, punctuation and spelling). On Thursday is written Danish, to write an essay, topic at his choise. The combo teenager+nervosity is not the best :))

But I want to ask something. In my country, Susu's step father would be considered to be a pedophile, his last victim is only 6 years old. How is possible to ask for money in exchange for silence? Is that a normal situation in China to ask for money like that? And keeping silence, hiding under the carpet all that tragedy of the little girl?

Here it's against the law to hide a crime and rape is considered a grave kind of crime, especially when the victims are children. Those parents would have lost their parental rights over the girl. They are selling actually her sanity and future. Here the girl would have been given into a foster family in another area of the country, would start therapy with a psychologist, would have changed family name (not to be possible her schoolmates to find out what happened to her and be the subject of gossips), etc.
I saw also in K-dramas, C-dramas or Thai-dramas a lot of this kind of situations, after car accidents, accidental hits or parents paying for their children's mistakes or vice versa. Money is not the answer for everything. There should be a law, isn't it? Otherwise any beast with money and power would be free to rape whenever he wants, whoever he wants - he has money to pay and buy his freedom.

He won Susu's affection already before they slept together 1st time. Otherwise she wouldn't have initiated it. Maybe she is also "courageous" :)

Rose's brother didn't wait anything. They were enemies then friends then confidants then lovers. They slept together 1st time in ep. 14, when he even didn't know about her trauma. She told him about it later. They lived together without being married, first each in own house, later in the same - for some years before they got married (actually Su Su's accept). She will never surpass her trauma, nobody does that. Women with traumas like hers only learn to live with them. Every time her mother called or did something to get money, that trauma came again at the surface.

And remember his fishing with the other woman? And his worries that the boy is his?
Yes, "All's well that ends well", but they had a lot of bumps on their road, too.

I come with a completion:
1. "You" is not YOU. Don't take it personally.
2. Do not think you can know a person even if there are 20-30 years together. You could reach the conclusion that you lived with a person all your life and still have surprises.

I was married and divorced - we were together for 5 years (all our student years) we graduated and got married. After 1 year we divorced.
I got married again (after 9 years) to another man and I've been married for 21 years now and still going strong. I speak from personal experience. There are no rules. People change.

It's a pity that I have to explain.
In some people's eyes, it's ok that women are free to be pilots and drive a motorcycle - things that were related to men not so long time ago.
So, she is free to pilot an airplane, to ride a MC, but sexually she may not be free to chose the man, the moment and the conditions of a sexually encountrance. Not without being judged and labeled as "courageus" which it could be translated as "slutty".
After Jia Ming died, there were at least 5-6 years of loneliness. No man in her life. She said that thing with "threads": when she is with a man (even if he is dead!), no other men have place in her life. She is a very decent person and a very responsible mother.

Rose didn't take risks with any of the men in her life. She used a lot of time to marry (3 years) and to divorce that creepy man, she tried all she could to repair and behold her marriage. She endured for the sake of her daughter and for her own sake many years of abuses and lack of respect, just for having a clean conscience. To know she tried her best.

With Eric she gave all she had, she didn't jump in his bed without knowing him. She was 22 and she didn't know much about life and love.
With Jia Ming - she felt really offended when she saw that "Viagra" medicine he took. Is that looking like a "risky and courageous" woman? Lool...

She didn't have a sexual thing with the young pilot and said "Do not make any promises, there is 1 year, we meet a lot of people, etc" - is that coming from an "easy woman"?
A woman cannot be defined only by her career. That is only a fraction of her life.

Be sure she also thinks " Like, for me it is best to know first your partner before you go intimate with the person". Eric was a familiar person, she knew him inside out. Maybe better than he knew himself.

She didn't sleep with a man which she didn't have feelings for. Life is short, would you think she should wait 5-10 years before she made the decision to sleep with him? Are we in the 15th century and I don't know?

Rose is a modern woman. Not afraid to show what she feels or taking what she wants.
We are in 2024. Women portaited in these series must be virginal and innocent, even if they are already married or were married. It's so outdated and sometimes even pathetic. There are some reminiscence and anachronistic mentalities from the 15th century in many C-series.
A woman has also needs - what's the problem? :) She can have a pilot licence and drive a motorcycle - but she has to be virginal and pure :))))) At 40 years old ... :)))

Between Rosie and Eric is a very tight and special relationship, they will always have feelings for eachother. He is her first love and the first man in her life. She is his love, punctum. He's alone, not being able to fall in love again.
They are very aware that to be together again wouldn't be happiness for the none of them. There is nostalgia, tenderness, psysical attraction (and it seems they make a good pair from this point of view), friendship, understanding and familiarity - they know very well eachother and they are very comfortable in each other's company.
But Rosie wants to feel that passion, the love like a flame. Not with Eric anymore, that time is gone.

Ratings on MDL are ridiculous.
To blame an actor who did a great job, only because you cannot be objective ("not a fan") it's ridiculous. Why people take it personally when it's about actors? They see only an image, not the real person.

I think the most romcoms are like junk food. You enjoy the taste at the moment you eat it but there are only empty calories, nothing good for your brain and body remains after eating it, burned fast and feeling hungry soon again (and getting fat :)). There is very seldom you can see a memorable romcom, almost all are like watch it now and forget it tomorrow.
This series is great in every way. There were not that many at this level this year.

It's pity, because there is a lot to learn from this story. But they must have some neurons to get it.
It's a general issue, young people are not taught critical thinking anymore, they receive everything already "served on the plate" - the problem and the conclusions at the same time. Easier to manipulate in this way, tragically.

I think they are normal. This is how parents all over the world should be. I am afraid that normality is considered exception in some parts of the world...

Ratings on MDL are not to be trusted. A great, serious series/movie has low rating and a really stupid, soppy, pink cloud of cotton candy comedy can have huge rating only because is starring a popular actor or actress. Nobody would remember that comedy in 2-3 months, but those fans would kill you if you dare to say something.
About this series, I think there are a lot of teenagers that rate it low - what can you expect? Difficult to understand and value this beautiful series when you're 16 or even older a bit. "I stop watching because is about people with problems" :))) This comment made my day :))

Rosie changed. She loved 2 men who didn't deserve her. One obsessed with his career, the other obsessed with money. None of them really loved her, both pretended so but the truth is they loved more themselves and the things they wanted to have.
She avoided to behave with FXW in the same way she did with ZDG, she loved ZDG with passion and FXW in a more calm and steady way. I suppose she left Paris without a word because she still loved him desperately and she was afraid he would make her to stay. He would have just hugged her from behind, kissing her neck and telling her that he loves her ... and she couldn't resist and agree to stay. On the other hand, even if she would have explained him why she wants to leave, he wouldn't understand. He has never been able to understand her. He loves her in his selfish way because she is so special, artistic, beautiful, like a very rare piece of art. When I saw her riddle from the museum, that painting she made... she is really in her own class. Her imagination, talent, skills... Of course Eric saw all these and her potential and what did he? Asked her to give up on them and just being his.
In a way, FXW was more honest in his brutal way to ask her the same, even if Eric is more educated, mannered, sophisticated. Eric would have provided a cage of gold, FXW a cage of iron.

Eric had a revelation about how talented she actually is only when she started to paint on that wall. He didn't know much about Rosie because he wasn't interested to dig deeper in her soul and really know her. And it was a big blow for him when he came back and saw that painting erased. And even now, after so many years, he leaves her again for Paris even if he said he wants to woo her, he wants to learn how to behave with children, bla bla bla... words, words, words. Rosie has nothing to regret anymore, she knows she did the right choice when she left him many years ago.

This is how I see things.

The problem with ZDG is that he could very well make a career in China. Any time. But he was kept on a short leash by his mother, who didn't like Rose because she wasn't rich or having connections in their "high life society".
Rosie wanted to do something on her own. Become something by own means, talents and skills. She knew she had a huge potential to build her own career. Being with ZDG meant she had to give up on those dreams only to become his wife, hanging on him for life. No education degree, no career, nothing more than "Mrs. ZDG". Waiting patient for him to smile and shake hands under the cameras' lights, published in magazines, etc - she at home, housewife and that was all waiting there for her. And never good enough for his mother, his friends, his job, etc.
She was not careless - he never asked her what she thinks. He only delivered to her his decision of leaving to Paris and remaining there at least 3 years. He didn't ask her what is your dream? What do you want to be? In which direction do you want to take your life and work?
He was really selfish and only career driven, waiting from her to understand and accept.
She had that breakdown in his apartment because he left her alone for his career and promotions. He left her first, her feelings were not on 1st place but his career.

In ep. 28 she says "Congratulations. You got promoted again" and he thinks she makes fun on him because he knows his own mistakes.
Don't think he's a good guy. He says he will not leave Beijing again, he doesn't want to loose her again, only 1 word from you and bla bla bla.... He leaves again to Paris. He didn't take much to fight for her. After her experience with FXW, she wants some proof, words mean nothing to her anymore. ZDG didn't change, he is the same weak and selfish person.
He loved her but he loved himself and his career more.

This is too much for your brain. Take care not to short-circuit it with too much thinking.
It will explode.
