Yes, that was absolutely brilliant. I especially liked how totally unpredictable everything was. That was quite a wonderful change from the usual romance-heavy dramas.

Yes, it started great, that's why the rather cliched flash-back with the sweetness overload felt so jarring. I hope this was just a temporary fluke in an otherwise thrilling drama.

The subs for the introduction story are quite garbled, but if my interpretation is correct, it tells the story of some ancient fox king who sacrificed himself to banish some great evil under a mountain and this mountain still contains great magic today.

Watched it and found it incredibly boring, only made it to the end because of ZYC. The story is very predictable and cliched, the editing is bad and the acting of the two main leads was mediocre to say the least . The ending (I think it was an open one) was so shitty that I have completely forgotten about the details.

I didn't know any of the original material and still found the drama boring as hell, filled with bad acting. Zheng Yecheng was the only saving grace in this and the only reason that I made it to the shitty ending.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't have done the flashback, but they could have condensed it a bit more. The tone and the pace of the flashback was such a contrast to the first three episodes that it felt boring and no matter the length of each episode, 4/22 is definitely too much.

The first three or four episodes are free for everyone on Viki, no need to subscribe. For the following ones you just have to wait a bit longer than the subscribers. They usually unlock another episode once new episodes are available.

It started with a bang, but after 3 episodes 4 we're back in conventional drama-land with all the boring worn-out romance cliches. Four episodes of flash-back in a 22-episode drama is definitely too much. The little that happened in this flashback could easily have been condensed into 2 episodes.
Let's hope that there will be a bit more action now that we're back in the present.

Good! There is nothing worse than actors first accepting a role and then wanting to change the scope or direction of their role. Some of these traffic actors need some serious dressing down, especially the ones with big ego and little talent.

You may find it "troubling" - I find it realistic. In any physical confrontation, whether in old or modern times, those modern sensitivities of political correctness turn into smoke faster than you can blink.
Also, you cannot expect historical dramas to conform to the modern notion of politically correct behaviour, which frankly, borders on the ridiculous sometimes.

In this case they might stop airing new episodes at any moment (because some eps are being withheld by the production company).
