I see that Tencent are still promoting the drama on their Weibo, so things cannot be that bad...

I'm no particular fan of anyone in the drama, I just watched it because it's xianxia. There are many very talented actors and actresses who get cast in support roles for years before they manage to get a lead. It allows them to gather acting experience and improve themselves.
When someone with as little talent as YCY gets cast in leading roles from the get go it just makes me feel like some factors other than acting prowess have influenced that choice.

It's also not for you if you value good acting more than pretty faces, lovely costumes and high-quality CGI.

She's a calamity for any lead actor who is paired with her. Stage presence of a fluff cotton ball... It could be blamed on bad writing if it happened just once, but she was weak in every single drama that I've seen her in. Definitely not leading lady material.

There was a very nice Empress Dowager/Empress duo in Legend of the Phoenix, both with terrific acting.

Usually for these close-up shots they use a hobby-horse (with ears and a bit of fur...), but him not moving at all makes it look so fake.

Have you ever met people who actually fought in a hands-on bloody war (I'm not talking about pressing a button to release drones)? They all come back somewhat emotionally damaged. In this sense, I think the ML portrayal of the general is very believable.

I guess this was meant to indicate that that it is made-up history. For the Chinese censorship it is very important to distinguish historical facts from made-up historical characters, hence the "this is fiction" warning before each episode.
Other than the exaggerated medical and martial arts skills, I don't think there will be any "fantasy" elements.

True, but there are also some publicity hungry people who will distort the facts to stir up a fuss. Our initial reacting may be to believe that the woman is always the victim, but sometimes that may be the wrong assumption.
Just let the authorities investigate first before jumping to conclusions...

Arrgh, the fake horse riding in ep. 5 was absolutely cringeworthy!
I can understand that not every actor feels comfortable on a horse, but would it really be asked for too much to learn how to fake it properly? How can the FL move so much and the ML not at all while sitting on the same horse???

The "age gap" in Eternal Love of Dream was a whopping 70,000 years!
Fortunately, the ML didn't look his age 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I hope it will, because that may help break the spell of dramas filled with nothing but idol boys and give producers the courage to offer more opportunities to older actors who actually know what they're doing.
