Maybe you’re just watching the ML drama for the first time. His dramas is always like that, he’s so boring…
Oh, don't remind me... that was quite an error of judgement which he probably regretted afterwards. If everything else had been ok I wouldn't hold it against him but it confirms again his "picking roles for which he doesn't fit the job description" attitude.

Well, I wouldn't say that he cannot act, it's just that he cannot act very well in certain types of roles. He is best cast as a stoic, stoney-faced character who doesn't need to convey any complex emotions. I quite liked him in Under the Power. I really don't understand why he always picks roles that require what he doesn't have, like romantic leads or characters described as mesmerisingly beautiful with a toned body. He was one of the main reasons why I had to drop The Blue Whisper - he absolutely didn't do justice to the character he played.
Yes, she cried a bit in the first few episodes, but let's be honest: who of us wouldn't in such a situation? Crying…
Yes, it was funny in a strange way. In the scene in the bridal chamber I had trouble working out whether she was laying it on extra-thick to make him feel uncomfortable or she was really in distress. It only became clear in the later conversations that she really had a breakdown.
Just started this yesterday and went through 6 episodes in the blink of an eye. Not a boring moment so far. I like the strong FL and all the other female characters also behave like grown-ups. It's sad that I even have to mention this, but given the favourite stereotypes of some script-writers it seems necessary to point this out. The ML's acting is pretty good, too. He manages to find the perfect line to portray a character who is somewhat reckless, without coming across as being annoyingly childish. His forte lies in showing his sensitive side without having to resort to any grand or cheesy gestures. I had to check where I had seen this actor before and was happy to find that Gu Nanyi from The Rise of Phoenixes is now all grown up 😁
To those who just started this drama and was turned off by FL's crying nonsense. Don't give up. It is only at…

I just finished this series and I absolutely loved it!!
It has everything that is so badly missing so many of the recent dramas: brilliant acting, strong female characters, a solid and engaging plot and a decent ending. Truly, not a boring minute. This drama really shows what could be possible if some of the current dramas used real actors instead of idol-boys and infantilised female characters.
The only sore point and the reason why I cannot bring myself to give this a 10/10 rating is the abhorrent animal abuse in the battle scenes. As a horse rider I couldn't bear to watch horses rearing and falling over and over again and had to fast-forward some of those scenes. Those battle-scenes were make-believe for the actors, but even with the best training a horse cannot pretend such falls and their suffering was very real. For me this somewhat spoilt the fun of an otherwise perfect drama.
Don't like, don't watch. Simple rule in life that has served me well.We all have expectations but unless you are…
Well, you'd have to watch a bit first to know if you like it or not... 😉
Also, ranting doesn't necessarily mean hating (there seem to be a lot of people who cannot tell the difference...). Sometimes it is just disappointment at seeing an actor/actress who you like acting their guts out in a story that makes no sense or against a partner who isn't well matched.
Oh dear another teacher-student saga... I cannot say that I'm a fan of this trope. It brings back some unpleasant memories of another torturous drama with a similar storyline. I will give it a try for Xiao Zhan and I hope they did a better job this time with a less annoying FL.
Sounds interesting... I'm relieved to see that some people are still able to come up with a story line for a short-length series that doesn't have any transmigrated visitors from modern times to drive the plot.
He's an actor, why can't he do his job properly? It's ok if he doesn't like to do these scenes, that is his choice, but then why does he always have to take roles as the romantic lead? There are plenty of other roles around...
To me this is like a person who cannot speak French who wants to work as translator for a French magazine. Totally nonsensical.
Maybe they got scared of their own courage... if this drama is really based on the Bloody Romance web novel as…
Thanks for the clarification... Yeah, all that white-washing is annoying! Not even the villains are allowed to real unhinged mass-murderers... soon the only antagonists that are still allowed will be the delusional SFL that says "I will kill her" every five minutes 😂😂😂
did youku forget about this??? The world NEEDS a female assassin protagonist from Tang dynasty
Maybe they got scared of their own courage... if this drama is really based on the Bloody Romance web novel as has been suggested further down on this page, in the current climate it may be a bit too risky to air even if they thoroughly clean it up.
This drama made into the top 20 of the Maoyan Pro 2023 Top 20 Online Drama Hot List for the First Half of 2023 (ranked 13th) which should be good news in itself. However, the fact that JT's other drama for this year (the one that shall not be named) won 2nd position on this list makes me seriously question people's judgement.
Just read that this drama is ranked 2nd on the Maoyan Pro 2023 Top 20 Online Drama Hot List for the First Half of 2023 (first is TTEOTM). I really cannot understand why...
