Watched 2 episodes and so far the story is interesting, even though it has some some very annoying cliches, like the spoilt little miss who keeps bullying the underdog FL and the omnipotent master who sees everything except the bullying that happens right under his nose. It’s ok for two or three episodes but if they are dragging this out it will be annoying. The FL is giving me some very unpleasant Yunxi flashbacks, same lethargic suffering facial expression, same brown shadows under her eyes. I definitely prefer my FLs a bit more dynamic. Not too impressed by the ML, he feels a bit bland when it comes to stage presence. Literally any other male character, including the demons, feels more like a leading man than him. Let’s see how this develops in the coming episodes…
What parts in particular do you think are missing? They pieced this together with elements from the three hypnotist…
Ok, now I understand what you mean, I don’t think that there is any connection between Bai YaXing and the small hypnotist. In the novels they appear in different volumes, it’s only for the drama version that they appear at the same time. I like the drama version because it was filmed so beautifully, but the story is much better in the novel. I just arrived at the bit where we learn about the event that turned Bai YaXing from a policeman into a vigilante and it is very good! I might put some of it into the ‘recent discussions’ section once I finished translating. It gives his character a lot more depth.
Regarding that rumor of Dylan Wang and Esther Yu cast as the main leads was trending #1 a few days ago and their…
I read somewhere that WHD or his fans had the FL replaced. If true, I can only congratulate them. It’s what Jeremy Tsui should have done as well before wasting his efforts on that fluff cotton ball in Chong Zi. I assume that sadly he lacks that bargaining power, though… I really don’t have any particular preference for the FL, but at least it should be someone who can act instead of just pout for 40 episodes.
I hope the drama will have fewer plot holes than the synopsis above…
If they can see the phoenix figure in the mirror for the group, why can’t they see it for the individual? It sounds like a willful complication of things just to have a story…

Bai YaXing used to be a police informant (in the novel he was even a police captain) who went undercover in the gang where the murderer of the ML’s mother was the cook. He helped the cook escape the police raid and was considered his benefactor. Given BYX’s character it can be assumed that he manipulates everyone he meets to obtain their secrets. This murder of a woman in a small community must have made some waves, so everyone would know about it. It would have been easy for him to put two and two together. This is my theory - in the novels the two of them never meet, because Bai YaXing features in volume 1 whereas Lu FengPing only appears in volume 3. I don’t understand what you mean by the small scale hypnotist…
WHEN? WHY nobody even cares to start fake rumours about the airing date of this drama, is it doomed?
I keep coming back to check, but nothing seems to be happening with this one. Maybe it’s because there aren’t any idol boys in the main cast that we don’t even get some rumours. I hope it just drops from the sky one day to surprise us.
Here is the synopsis (copied from Douban): The little snake demon under the Qingcheng Mountain - Xue Linglong, who had been working hard for thousands of years to cross the thunder disaster, faded the snake body and became a girl in the city. Under the guidance of Guanyin and Yue Lao, she went to the world to find the son of heaven, but the love was in the past. After a trip to the world, you can leave after going through ordinary things. However, in this process, Linglong met her sister Qingdai, and even met her beloved Lin Haoxuan. Is this the beginning of another love-hate entanglement in her previous life? Let's look forward to finding the answer in the play.
I’m confused by these badges, too. You receive them, but then what do you do with them? They don’t seem to…
That’s a bit of a double-edged sword. If people just comment without actually having anything to say/share it will be boring to wade through the sea of pointless comments.
I just came here after a few days after finishing, I was really hoping the rating would go up. But nothing happened…
Yes, his whole village was killed, but killing yet more people for his revenge won’t bring them back. I’m very much for giving them justice and punishing the culprits, but he has many totally innocent people killed because he is blinded by revenge.

Honestly, I’m on ep 13 and I find it a bit “chewy”… I’m really not into idol boys (who mostly can’t act) but I’m finding the ML so thoroughly unlikeable that I’ve kind of lost interest and watched something else in the meantime. I hate the way this guy plays with people’s lives and still expects everyone to trust and protect him. If he got beaten up I couldn’t even feel sorry for this manipulative egoist who puts his little revenge above everything else.
Watched one episode just to have a look. I liked the fact that they put a middle-aged woman in a kick-ass martial arts role, even if it’s just a support role. I don’t care much about the ML, something about him “feels off” - it’s probably his acting style…
Here’s the synopsis according to Douban: The play tells the story of Ye Fan, the head of the Department of the Three Laws, and He Lan, who was fired, who met and fell in love again and joined hands to solve the case.
Really good in the beginning then it started to have lots of areas that had holes in the middle. It was almost…

anyone else really disapionyed with ep 21, the reason behind his crimes is just so lame.
Yes, I posted a comment on episode 21 further down. Overall I’m not too happy with the “white-washed” villain (although, I have to say that the actor was an absolute pleasure to watch in this role). He is evil on a much grander scale in the novel. I guess this one can really be blamed on censorship rules that probably wouldn’t allow an ex-cop to have a 2nd career as mass murderer. He also had a much better reason for wanting revenge in the novel.
If romcom then New Life Begins is definitely good. The FL is a bit too matured in Destined tbh. But i read that…
You call her "too mature" I call her "grown-up". I'm sick 'n tired of these kids in lead roles trying to portray complex characters and (most of the time) failing miserably. A weak actress in the FL role ruins the drama for everyone!
