Many people were expecting a bromance or BL.type content (due to the way some marketing was done) and then vented their disappointment through the rating.
Just had a look at the first episode... I like the colours (dark red, bronze and gold seem to dominate...) and the way it was shot. Looking forward to watching this once there are subs 😃
In case you're looking for a synopsis, here's what Douban has to say:
The play tells the story of a Putian woodcarving family at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, which was famous in the industry for its superb skills, but experienced ups and downs due to the conspiracy of treacherous people and changing with the times.
Well shit. Nooo. I had to go down the rabbit hole to figure out why it is a sin that Chinese citizens can't go…
Yes, I hope so, too. He seems to be doing a lot of promotional (clothes, furniture, etc) and charity events. I haven't seen any mention of a new drama project. From what I've read somewhere money doesn't seem to be much of an issue, so hopefully he takes his time to chose the next roles carefully.
Why this hasn't got it's distribution license yet?I have a special interest in watching this drama as it's about…
If you have never seen this in a drama, you should watch House MD. One of the main characters in that series has Huntington's disease and the problems around this feature quite prominently in the later episodes of House MD. Knowing what this disease is, I guess there is no need to ask whether this one will be BE or HE...
Somehow all your reviews sound the same... everything is boring or stupid or (my favourite) unrealistic. Maybe these dramas are just not for you.. 😉 and a nice documentary would rather keep you from falling asleep.
China must truly be an blissful paradise where the government has no other problems than policing the entertainment…
Even though this may be prevalent in some communist countries, it is a global problem that governments are trying to get ever more control over their population. Over here they just disguise it a bit better and pretend they need all our data to "fight terrorism" or something equally abstract. With the latest push for digitalisation of health and ID we're sadly not far behind China when it comes to state control. They just haven't tightened the thumb screws yet...

Government officials? Interesting, I wouldn't know... But even if they are, that won't help him in case his co-star gets "cancelled" and the whole production gets canned. It evidently also doesn't seem to help him getting any better roles 😂 I just hope this storm blows over quickly without too much damage or yet more unfathomable rules about what actors aren't allowed to have for breakfast. I guess I will have to watch Legend of the Phoenix again...
Someone please explain this to me like I'm 5.So a guy made a joke the goverment didn't like. So...they paralized…
It's not about the rules, it's about the control. This is a common pattern in a certain type of government to have many rules that nobody really understands and that keep changing all the time. It will keep people's minds busy and put them in a permanent state of uncertainty. We had a similar thing in Europe with all the COVID rules, one day it was masks don't change anything, then must have masks, then special masks, then masks while sitting on a park bench, etc. None of it made much sense but it is a way to control people and make them snitch on others.
I had some hopes that his would be released later this year or early this year, but now, it seems that due to yet another C-ent crackdown, artists who went to Kpop concerts (like the FL for this one did...) may get investigated. Still just a rumour, but we all know what usually happens next... JT really has terrible luck when it comes to his female co-stars, either they can't act or they cause some other trouble (or both). 😭😭😭😭
Whoever are pursuing actors bec of what they say, or do out of the media spotlight are way off the point of putting…
The end result won't be a high moral society, but a highly hypocritical society. We have to return to some common sense and to a certain degree separate the artists' personality from their work and most importantly, keep our noses out of their private life! Is anyone really so naive to think that all those highly-regarded classic authors, composers or philosophers were all nice people who never did any wrong (yes, I'm looking at you, Confucius!). We simply know a lot less about their private lives.

Over here we have energy crisis, housing crisis, health crisis, inflation and environmental pollution to keep our governments busy...
