I’ve seen some pictures and clips and he looks absolutely delicious in the role as Zhang Ruipu. For some reason his role hasn’t been confirmed by the production team (and therefore couldn’t be updated on MDL). It is probably meant as a surprise cameo.
The variety show (老有意思旅行社 - English tittle: Forever Young) that Jeremy filmed in January this year has started airing in May. Episode 7, which is the first one he appears in, will be broadcast this Thursday (29/05/2025) at 12:00 on Mango TV.

Do you seriously think people waited a year to upload them? I don’t need to look up any of these dates on external sources as I have my own records from the time when it was filmed. Xu Zhengxi’s wrapping photo cause quite an uproar at the time. That’s how I clearly remember that it was in June last year.

He deserves better scripts and should really try to make his way into films.
Absolutely agree with you! He has done quite a few movies in the past, but sadly most of them weren’t good productions. Right now the problem with movies is that suddenly everyone wants to get into movies and that due to the economic pressure on budgets, producers are increasingly turning to traffic “actors” backed by strong capital to contribute to their project. So to get in, he would either have solid credentials as a serious actor, or have some powerful backers.
Just as an example, support roles in The Wandering Earth 3 were practically “sold” to people who would make a financial contribution to the tight budget.
It looks like Hidden Shadow will finally hit the screen on 07/05/2025. A new trailer was released today and the fantastic news is that Jeremy will keep his original voice! It may be a small guest role, but definitely worth watching!

Well, there are a lot of crazy people in C-entertainment. Watching from the sides I can only shake my head at some of these excesses. The worst of it is the need for so-called CP promotion. It is like telling the actors that they are unbelievable as a couple on screen if they don’t pretend to be a couple during drama promotion. 😂😂😂 I am therefore very happy that SLY will spare us this BS.

That is the case for so many novels/dramas, it isn’t an issue particular to SLY, even though some people may use this to create a negative buzz. I am a keen novel reader and there are so many plot lines that won’t make it through review, from actively toppling the emperor to keeping the FL as a courtesan, so much of it gets toned down beyond recognition. All we can do is live with it and hope that at least the scriptwriters can spare us the usual old tropes.

Yes, he started filming in February, just for a few days, and now again at the end of March, but it was never officially announced (neither by the production team, nor by himself). It is a guest role as Zhang Ruipu (the villain 😎).
